Chapter 18
Zhao Yuxin's guard was instantly up. She said in a coquettish tone, "Brother Hao, you couldn't have fallen for her, could you?"
Chen Jiahao gave an awkward laugh. "I'm not that lecherous. I just genuinely want to thank her. I'm terrible with words and the worst at arguing."
"I'll handle this. Brother Hao, let's look at the menu first!!!"
Zhao Yuxin took over this task, afraid that the female manager would deliberately try to seduce the man she had her eyes on. After all, a customer who could casually drop two million was a rare treasure in a place like this.
She deliberately sat down next to Chen Jiahao, pressing her thigh against his as she opened the menu.
Meanwhile, at the other table, the appetizer for the set meal arrived. The sushi platter wasn't anything particularly special.
The plate was unique, and the presentation was exquisite, but there was very little to actually eat. It was the classic case of ripping off the rich, not the poor.
Zhao Kai watched Tian Tian take photos with an indulgent look on his face. When Tian Tian looked up and saw the two of them sitting together, she sneered, "What a tramp. She's practically glued to him."
"Brother Kai, she's going this far just to make you jealous. How can you say you can see through her?"
Zhao Kai turned to look, and he felt a surge of irritation as well. He said coldly, "Sweetie, what do we have to be angry about? She's so pathetic she's latched onto a simp like Chen Jiahao. She's the one making a fool of herself."
Tian Tian gave a charming smile. "You're right. But I bet Zhao Yuxin is the one paying for this meal."
"Why do you say that???" Zhao Kai asked, taken aback.
Tian Tian was smug inside, but she maintained a demure expression on her face. "You know Chen Jiahao is just a poor guy. sticking to me like gluel, so annoying."
"For my birthday this time, I heard he worked multiple jobs, even delivered food, and maxed out his credit card just to buy me that iPhone 16 as a birthday present."
"He tried that hard? Sweetie must have been so moved," Zhao Kai teased.
"Stop it. I just find him annoying," Tian Tian said with a giggle. "His pockets are cleaner than his face. How could he possibly afford to treat Zhao Yuxin to a meal here? A guy like that probably doesn't even have a high credit limit."
"So, Zhao Yuxin is paying out of her own pocket just to make you jealous, letting him be her kept man."
"The one who should be moved is you, Brother Kai..."
When a top-tier green tea girl and a master player cross swords, it's all soft spoken smiles, but every word is a hidden blade.
Hearing this, Zhao Kai couldn't help but feel smug, though he said, "Don't be jealous, Sweetie. I already told you, it's over between her and me. You're the only one in my heart now."
They were being lovey-dovey, but they kept glancing over at the other table.
"Brother Hao, do you prefer Boston lobster or Australian lobster???" Zhao Yuxin was practically clinging to Chen Jiahao, her breath warm and fragrant against his ear. He couldn't tell if it was perfume or her natural scent.
Chen Jiahao felt a little dizzy, both nervous and awkward. He said softly, "I'm not a picky eater. Order whatever you'd like."
"No, you order!!" Zhao Yuxin cooed. Chen Jiahao's legs went a little weak, while another part of him went a little hard.
Chen Jiahao took the menu and his eyes widened. Wow, the VIP private rooms really were something else. Here, lobster was treated like a common ingredient.
Every dish was photographed beautifully, with the cheapest ones costing a few hundred yuan and dishes over a thousand being commonplace.
In the past, Chen Jiahao would have felt dizzy just looking at it; these things were forever out of his reach.
But now that he had money and a beauty by his side, he couldn't lose face. He glanced at the cheaper dishes at the front, then flipped straight to the back to look at the most expensive signature dishes.
This move made Zhao Yuxin's eyes light up. As expected, he looked down on the kind of standard fare served at banquets.
At the City Garden Restaurant, the Japanese and Western set meals were the cheap options. If you wanted something truly impressive, it had to be top-tier Chinese cuisine.
"Two orders of Supreme Shark's Fin, one order of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, one order of Emperor Crab prepared two ways, two orders of Golden Thread Fish Maw Stew, and two three-head Abalone with Molten Yolk."
"That should be enough for the main courses, right!"
Zhao Yuxin was stunned. To say nothing of the other dishes, just one order of the fish maw stew cost 5,800 yuan.
The waiter reminded him, "Sir, a meal of only seafood can get a bit rich. Perhaps you'd like to order some other dishes to go with it?"
Chen Jiahao then flipped to the front of the menu. "Is that so? In that case, let's add the Black Garlic Snow Beef and a Pan-Seared Matsutake Mushroom!!!"
After noting it down, the waiter asked, "Sir, that should be enough. What would you like to drink???"
This was the moment Zhao Yuxin had been waiting for. She immediately opened the wine list and asked innocently, "Brother Hao, what should we drink?"
She pushed the beverage and juice menus to the side. The waiter eagerly suggested, "Sir, Madam, we provide a complimentary carafe of mango juice."
"No, I'm allergic to mangoes, and I don't want anything so cold," Zhao Yuxin said, then immediately felt she had misspoken. For a veteran player like her, the implications of a woman saying she can't drink cold things were crystal clear.
However, Chen Jiahao's expression remained unchanged. He said gently, "Then you should have more soup later. Soft drinks aren't healthy; it's better to drink less of them."
He's so pure, Zhao Yuxin thought, finding herself more and more smitten. She felt this rich young master was truly a piece of unpolished jade, well worth her time and effort.
Zhao Yuxin said with a playful smile, "It's my first time eating something so fancy. Of course, we should have some wine to set the mood."
"The mood, you say!!!" Chen Jiahao looked at the wine list. "Is it only foreign wines and red wine???"
"Not at all. We also have Maotai and the best Zui Qing Hua from Xinghua Village," the waiter quickly interjected.
Zhao Yuxin asked cautiously, "Brother Hao, you don't like red wine?"
"It would be a waste if I drank it. That stuff is like tea to me; no matter how expensive you say it is, it all tastes the same to me."
This was the absolute truth. In Chen Jiahao's life, foreign wines and red wine were distant concepts. High-proof liquor and beer were his staples.
But that's not how it sounded to Zhao Yuxin's ears...
Brother Hao must really be from a wealthy family, she thought. He's probably drunk so many famous wines and teas that he's no longer interested in them.
So low-key, yet so down-to-earth. The more time I spend with him, the more of his good points I discover.
