The stranger stood still, the dim light from Ethan's flashlight flickering across his face. His uniform looked like it belonged to an old staff member, but Talia knew every person who worked in the estate, and this man wasn't one of them.
Ethan's voice cut through the thick silence. "Who are you?"
The man didn't flinch. Instead, he slowly turned the phone around, revealing the screen.
Vanessa.
Her smile was venomous, her blonde hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail, lips painted in blood red. "Well, well, isn't this cozy?" she purred.
"Vanessa," Ethan growled. "You've crossed a line."
"I was never one to color inside the lines," she replied sweetly. "And now that my dear Strathmore has shown me just how rotten the Wolfe empire is… I'm done playing nice."
Talia stepped forward, shielding Luna in her arms. "If you think threatening my children will scare me.."
