"Everybody! I'm back!"
Mo Wang appeared in a flash of light, and was immediately tackled by a purple blur traveling at eighty miles an hour.
"Oof!"
Even the Demon God Pillars hadn't been able to scratch him, but he was no match for Chaldea's terrifying eggplant demon.
"Senpai! You're finally back!" Mash sobbed into his chest.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying? Who bullied you?" he asked, at a loss for words. Everyone else was staring at him like they had just seen a ghost. I've only been gone for a little while. Why are they acting like I died?
"Mo Wang, you're finally back," Romani said, rushing in. "Thank goodness you're alright."
"Doctor, you look terrible," Mo Wang said, noticing Romani's dark circles. "You look like a national treasure in my country. And your kidneys... you want some Liuwei Dihuang Wan?"
"It's all your fault!" Romani yelled, finally snapping. "You were gone for a week! I thought I'd lost you during the Rayshift!"
"A week? I was only gone for a few hours," Mo Wang said, confused.
"You really didn't know you were gone for a week? The entire Chaldea has been worried sick about you," Romani said, his anger dissipating as he saw Mo Wang's clueless expression.
Mo Wang had unknowingly become the most important person in Chaldea. When he had disappeared, the entire facility had nearly shut down. A week had felt like a year.
"I really didn't know. I was called away by Gaia and Alaya. Who knew it would take so long?"
"Gaia and Alaya? The Counter Force?!" Mash gasped.
"The Counter Force? So that's what happened," Romani said, relieved. If it was them, then it made sense. But he was still a little worried. They weren't exactly known for being reasonable. But then again, this was Mo Wang. He was probably fine.
"So, what did they want? Did they warn you about causing too much trouble in the singularity?"
"Something like that," Mo Wang said nonchalantly. "The power I used caused a little problem with the Root, so they asked me not to use it anymore."
"Cough, cough! You caused a problem with the Root?!" everyone, including the Servants, stared at him in horror.
The Root was the foundation of the Nasuverse. If something happened to it, the entire world would be destroyed.
"I knew he was a troublemaker, but I didn't think he could do something like this," Cu Chulainn muttered. This was even scarier than Goetia's Incineration of Human Order.
"So that's why," Archer said, rubbing his forehead. No wonder his bosses and Goetia were so concerned. This guy had nearly broken the world.
"So it was that power you used to turn the wyverns and zombies into those strange monsters," Romani said with a sigh. It was obvious that power wasn't from this world.
"By the way, that power you used in the first singularity is still affecting it. Can't you take it back?" he asked. The Honkai beasts were still there, and the Honkai energy was still spreading.
"Nope," Mo Wang said with a shrug.
"Then what are we going to do? We can't just leave it like that!"
"Don't worry, I have a plan," he said with a mysterious smile.
"What are you planning now?" Romani asked, his stomach already starting to hurt.
"Have you ever heard of... Honkai-mon?"
"I've heard of Pokémon. What's Honkai-mon?"
"Simple. I'm going to train the Honkai beasts and Dead Apostle-like creatures in the first singularity to be our allies, just like Servants."
Romani silently popped two stomach pills. Leaving a world-destroying power to run rampant in a singularity was a huge problem!
"Well, there's no other way," Mo Wang said with another shrug. "Since I've already opened a gate there, I might as well make use of it."
Besides, the amount of Honkai energy that could enter the world was very small now. The Honkai's will couldn't really enter this world. By the time they finished dealing with Goetia, the Honkai probably wouldn't have even covered all of France yet.
"Hah, I'm tired. I'll deal with it tomorrow," he said, and then turned to leave. "I've lost a week of my vacation. I need to rest."
"I think you'd better go explain yourself to the Director first," Romani said.
"Uh, no thanks. She'll just yell at me for hours," Mo Wang said, waving his hand dismissively.
"Is that so?" everyone said, looking at him with a strange expression.
"Yeah, so please, Romani, cover for me," he pleaded.
"I'd love to, but the Director is right behind you," Romani said with a wicked grin.
"Huh? You're lying again, Romani. There's no way—"
A pair of soft but strong hands grabbed his neck and twisted his head around. He came face to face with Olga Marie's dark, stormy expression. "Well, well, if it isn't our great hero," she said with a sweet, but menacing, smile. "Did you have fun on your week-long vacation?"
"D-Director! Let me explain—"
"Explain? Oh, we have plenty of time for you to 'explain'," she said, her knuckles cracking.
She grabbed him by the collar and dragged him out of the room.
"Help! Mash! Doctor! Don't just stand there!" he cried out, but to no avail.
"Good luck, Senpai," Mash said with a wave.
"Ahem, I have a report to finish," Romani said, turning away.
"My, what a beautiful sunset," Cu Chulainn said, whistling and looking at the ceiling.
"..." Archer silently pulled out a bag of sunflower seeds.
Mo Wang's screams echoed down the hallway. "I was wrong! Director! Please, be gentle! My ear is going to fall off!"
"It seems the only one who can control that little devil is the Director," Da Vinci said with a laugh.
"As they say," Romani said, his stomach ache suddenly gone, "'there's always someone who can put you in your place.'"
And at that moment, the Savior of Human Order, who was currently having his ear twisted off, finally understood: a berserk Director was the true "Evil of Humanity."
