Chapter 52 - Saving A Life

"Run! Someone has returned."

The boys were scared out of their wits when they heard the sound of someone walking toward them; they were worried that they would be caught and thrown into prison. They didn't want to be arrested! If they got a bad remark while they were still in school, then they were worried that they would be ruined for good. No factory would be willing to accept them and forget about getting a job; their school would kick them out.

If that happened, then their parents would be disappointed in them. Neither of them had a good family; if they got rusticated, then they would be in grave trouble. Thus, these young men turned around their feet and left without caring about Han Jianyou, who was still holding the courtyard wall. Because the boy underneath him turned around and left in a hurry, he was left with nowhere to go.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Han Jianyou shouted when he saw that his friends had all run away without taking him with them. Didn't they swear that they were good friends and they were not going to leave him alone? Why was it that they ran away the second they saw that they were going to be in trouble? What was he supposed to do now? If he jumped now, then he was worried that he would twist his leg.

Han Jianyou looked at his friends who were running away without paying attention to him, and then gritted his teeth and looked down. When he saw that the distance between him and the ground was a bit too high, he was scared. Was he really going to be caught today? What would happen to him if he were sent to prison? Was he going to be executed over some petty theft?

Earlier, Han Jianyou was not scared, but now he was suddenly really scared. What was going to happen to him now? He didn't want to be killed for a theft that he didn't even commit.

"It seems like you are in a pinch."

A familiar voice spoke to him, and he snapped his head down to see who it was.

"You—"

"Me," Han Ruochen looked at her stupid brother and didn't know what to make of him. He was so foolish that he fell for the lies of those young boys and agreed to jump inside the mansion to steal. He was lucky that he met her and not someone else, or he would have surely been expelled from the school. It was bad enough that his grades were not good, but it was another thing for him to be thrown out of the school. If he were expelled, then his life would be ruined for good. He knew this, and yet he still did it.

"Han Ruochen, what are you doing? Why are you trying to scare me off? What do you even want to do?" said Han Jianyou angrily. He glared at his second sister and wondered why this woman was even trying to cause trouble for no reason. What was she even trying to do by scaring him and his friends like that?

Han Ruochen was so angry that she laughed. She raised the stick that she had brought with her and smacked Han Jianyou on the butt.

"What am I doing? What do you think you are doing? You actually dared to steal? Have you lost your mind, Han Jianyou? Do you think that your father is the mayor of the city and can help you get away after stealing? Do you even know that you will be expelled after getting caught!?" Han Ruochen questioned as she continued to hit the boy on the bottom. Even now she remembered how Han Ziyan told her that this foolish boy was pushed to take the blame for someone else.

He followed the wrong kind of people and ended up taking the blame for someone who did the crime and then pushed him to the front. And Han Jianyou, this fool, thought that the boy would help him in the end.

The result? This brat was executed, and his dead body was thrown into the mass grave.

Han Ruochen was filled with anger and helplessness when she realized that this brother of hers, despite being too honest and loyal, trusted the wrong people, and lastly, he was executed. The more she thought about it, the more Han Ruochen felt her heart ache. In the end, she couldn't help but raise her hand to smack Han Jianyou a few more times. "When did we teach you how to steal? We sent you to the school because we wanted to make sure that you would learn something good, and this is what you learned?"

Han Ruochen was not at all light-handed. She knew too well that for someone like Han Jianyou, this beating was necessary. Even though this brother of hers didn't do anything to the young woman, he still watched his boss hurt that girl. He was just as bad as the rest. Since this boy was so eager to walk down the path of crime, she was going to cripple him and make sure that he would never be able to walk down that path.

Let's see how he would commit crimes when his legs were crippled.

"Han Ruochen! Han Ruochen! Ah, second sister…second sister…" Han Jianyou screamed in pain as he tried to escape from Han Ruochen's beating, but in the end, he didn't escape the hits and ended up landing on his butt. The impact was so loud that Han Jianyou screamed, and his eyes started to burn with tears. He wanted to say something, but the pain made him swallow his tongue, and he couldn't even say a word; he could only inhale and exhale.

When he regained some of his speech, he raised his head and glared at the woman in front of him. He said angrily, "Just what are you doing? How can you beat me like this? What was I supposed to do? You guys haven't paid my fees for more than six months."
