Chapter 10 - Mistake

"What do you want me to do for you, Lord Kael?" Lyron asked in his hard voice.

He knew that this was the dumbest question he had ever asked; he had asked it several times. It just so sulked that Kael seemed to be avoiding the question, but then, maybe he just didn't know what to say because now, as he touched his moustache massaging his hair in thought, Kael raised his head swiftly, facing him widely.

"I want you to eliminate Duke Sylas from the surface of the earth. He merits it so much that there is no way that I am ever going to accept the fact that he is better than me," Kael explained Coldly.

Lyron perfectly understood what that meant and as he glared at him, he deciphered what might be going through Kael's mind. Sighing, Lyron realized what was not going to be their fate if he didn't stand up to be a man. Fighting for, trying to build — it would all be brushed away in a tragic incidence. Like seriously, their squad was going to be destroyed, and everything he had been… well, he didn't find this the least funny, and he needed to do something about it.

"Alright, Lord Kael, this is not yet a promise, but I ensure you this: I will wipe out Xavier's existence before he has the time to even wait for the votes. He needs to die, and unless we kill him, such fear wouldn't be the order of the day any more," Lyron murmured again, and Kael's face brightened even more. Well, it was part of his plans; he had meant what he said, and as he glared at Lyron proudly, he sniffed, bringing out the staunch part of him.

Working for Kael, the only thing Lyron knew was that his culprit needed to be eliminated; there was no way the man was going to be alive and allow everything that Kael had worked for to crumble in front of his eyes. Kael didn't really care about the men. No — such things couldn't happen.

Pretending as if he was wiping his eyes with his hands, Kael brought out a cruel laughter behind his hand, not wanting Lyron to see it. Well, it didn't mean anything if Lyron had seen it or not; it didn't mean anything to Kael, and as he brushed his mind away from those stuff, it was kind of bizarre.

"Thank you so much, Lyron, for helping me. Like seriously, I do not know what I can ever do to you right now. You have been so good to me all the time," he mouthed, staring at Lyron with bright eyes. It was his normal routine to behave in that manner, so it didn't really cause him a problem, but then Kael saw it as a problem, like a weird one for that matter.

Lyron was kind of embarrassed to tell him about the fact that he was afraid of sylas; this was because he had grounds. Sylas was this super-rich businessman who had everything he needed in his life. Sylas had money, authority, and power, but now, the only thing he wanted more was power. Even though it would be limited to becoming the Duke of lyria, it didn't mean anything little to the young man.

Lyron kind of hated his guts for that reason because Sylas's reasons for entering the contest were clean and pure — to eliminate the mafias.

"Lord Kael?" Lyron called out to Kael boldly. This time, Kael was swift in tilting his head to stare at Lyron. Maybe he thought that Lyron was going to tell him something more enticing than what he was already doing because that would make him happy, like seriously. Staring at him with unnervingly bright eyes, Kael waited for him to speak up.

Lyron sensed that too, because he didn't waste Kael's time; instead, he went straight ahead to tell him his plans. "No offense, Lord Kael, I was wondering — how do I go about killing a person like Duke Sylas? I know it will be such a great challenge, but then, I wish to know your own idea about it," Lyron blurted out.

His question caused Kael to gasp; he didn't believe that his professional killer would make him feel so bad. "Lyron, you are the only person I know right now that can do this job for me clean and perfectly. That is why I am asking you to help me. Is that too much to ask?" he inquired, his voice suddenly becoming soft. The manner in which he spoke freaked Lyron in every sense of the word, and as he tried brushing his mind away from his master, he knew that his question had just been the dumbest it previously was.

"Fine, Lord Kael, I will do as you say. There is no way that I am going to do such a thing to you. In fact, you shouldn't be in this mood right now, and I will help you as much as I can," Lyron said to the man sitting in front of him. This was a good start to make Kael feel better, so he smiled brightly at him trying to make him feel comfortable.

Alright, now that this was settled, several questions bumped into Lyron's mind — he knew that this was the sole reason why he had come here, and he was even lucky to have been here; if not, Kael would have fallen into a fit. Alright, now that this was settled, several questions bumped into Lyron's mind; he knew this was the sole reason why he had come here, and he was even lucky to be here. Only thinking about it was a genuine reason not to give up on his instincts. Lyron's mind was saturated when Kael's question came filing into his mind.

"Now, tell me, Lyron, how long do you think I will have to wait until you eliminate duke sylas? I hope you know that he poses a threat to us, right? As if winning the Governor's office is not enough for him; he now wants to increase his post," Kael muttered in anger.

This was more than anything Lyron could possibly think of; the thoughts clouded his mind. He couldn't even believe that Kael had said such a thing; his mind was blown away, and he tried his best to maintain his sanity. Staring at Kael now, Lyron understood his biggest fears. Everyone has that enemy that each time he approaches her, it just frightens the hell out of her. And everything moved on smoothly because they had someone to back them up like the next duke planned by Kael all their hopes were on him; he was as much as a toy that everyone could manipulate at any time, so that was why they gladly took him along to be in their camp.

Sylas was wise; he advocated for the truth and stood against any illegal acts or activities that might destroy society. This was why they didn't want him to be a wall to them. But then, he seemed to always have his way around. It was frustrating to know that, especially when everything they did was so hard for him to comprehend. He couldn't possibly settle their differences in that manner; it ached their hearts so much.

Sylas had played it smart because he waited all these years underground, raising a great number of people to fight against the Ninth Flame Clan. He had perfectly understood the concept that one doesn't fight a cause; he was right about that. More than anything that could happen in his life right now. There is nothing like rallying the family of the deceased to stand by him. Duke sylas had played the loyal young man, always offering gifts and visiting the families of the people that were once killed. It was annoying to know that such a thing could happen with him being the leader of it all. But then, he didn't pose a threat to them, no.

Besides all these things, Lyron knew he was a bad person; he had killed so many people he didn't even remember. He always creased his forehead, not wanting the headache that shot through him to expand elsewhere.

"What are you thinking about?" Kael asked Lyron, breaking the silence.

He had not noticed that he had been kind of carried away by his thoughts; it was none of his intention to be like that, but it had happened to him right now, and there was barely anything he could do about it, especially when he had heard the question well. The only thing left right now was for him to answer the question. Shaking his head violently as if trying to reason out the question in his mind, Lyron thought of a better way to answer because the earlier he did so, the better it would be for him.

"Lord Kael, I was just thinking about how we should have terminated Sylas's life earlier. He is so annoying, like seriously," Lyron spat disgustingly.

He ended there because he knew that if he added further words to what he had just said, something might happen to him, considering Kael had not fully recovered from the double shock he had obtained that evening. Three years ago, when Sylas had started visiting relatives and friends of the people the Ninth Flame Clan had killed sympathizing with them, telling them how justice would someday come Lyron had walked up to Kael with the proposal to kill him.

The good thing with Lyron Smith was that his face was never revealed; once you saw him, he definitely had to kill you to age his image, therefore no one had had the opportunity to know who always kills. That is why when he had met Selene at the club that night, he had the urge to kill her, but some sympathy had showed up in his heart, causing him to leave her alive. But then, that had a price because he could not possibly leave her there; she might have revealed his secret, and killing her was never an option for him.

Lyron often enjoyed the several beatings he gave her; he enjoyed the fact that the lady was bound to him and only to him alone — that is why he made it difficult for her to forget those notions. If it meant that he had to beat her and tie her hands and feet, coupled with tape around her mouth for her to stay calm, Lyron was ready to do so. After two years, he had finally gotten what he wanted: a lady like none other who respected him as if her soul depended on it of course it did; that is why she wanted to always redeem herself in front of him, and that is what he wanted.

Sighing, Lyron swiftly removed his mind from those thoughts. Selene was such an annoying young lady that he couldn't keep hitting on her. He had made it in life; nothing more was more than that, and he acknowledged that fact. With Sylas, it had not been as easy as he thought, and when he had brought up the idea to kill the young man, all Kael had said that day was, "Lyron, let the young man be, his day will come. Believe me, Lyron, his day will come."
