Chapter 143 - Chapter 143 – Lina’s Group of Five Undertakes the Fiend Mission

Sadius had finally comprehended portions of the fifth and sixth profound mysteries of the Edicts of Destruction.

The Redbud Sovereign and Sadius both ceased their battle.

"I greet you, Lord Sovereign," Sadius bowed respectfully to Uhtred.

"So, you're called Sadius?" Uhtred asked calmly.

"Yes, my lord." Despite his own strength, Sadius was still quite respectful in front of Uhtred—after all, this Sovereign's power was simply terrifying.

"If you weren't already the Emissary of Redbud, I truly would've liked to ask if you'd be willing to become my Emissary."

Sadius responded with a courteous smile.

"Zijing, the Planar War is about to begin. The first match is the Underworld versus the Divine Light Realm. Do you intend to send anyone?" Uhtred inquired.

This upcoming Planar War between the Underworld and the Light Realm was not expected to be overly fierce.

What truly mattered was the war between Infernal Realm and the Heaven Realm. If Heaven emerged victorious, the Edicts of Fate would receive another Will reward from the Overgod. That would allow the Fate Sovereign, Orloff, to increase his power by another tenfold—pulling far ahead of the other three Sovereigns.

Even the two Intermediate Sovereigns of Fate would be able to step into the ranks of Ruler; essentially the rank of a Chief Sovereign. Though Chief Sovereigns had differing strengths they were still the strongest within their respective Edicts due to the strength of the Sovereign Spark.

Thus, Uhtred had been making preparations constantly.

"Reporting to Lord Sovereign, if nothing unexpected happens, I plan to send Reisgem and Reihon. As for Sadius, I intend to save him for the final battle."

Uhtred nodded. "That arrangement is reasonable."

Afterward, the three went their separate ways. Uhtred returned to the Infernal Realm through a spatial rift, while Sadius, under the guidance of the Redbud Sovereign, returned to the Amethyst Mountain Range.

From here on, Sadius' only focus was to fully comprehend the two newly gained profound mysteries of destruction.

Thus, he entered seclusion in the Amethyst Mountains to cultivate.

Time flashed by—a hundred years passed.

Infernal Realm – Redbud Continent – Ziyang Prefecture.

Lina, along with Reyna, the blue-haired Eunice, and her two sons, participated in a Fiend Fortress mission.

Over the past century, all five of them had experienced considerable growth in strength.

Lina's talent was even more astonishing than that of her son Linley.

After all, in the original story, Lina had been transformed into a Twelve-Winged Angel through the Angel Rebirth Pool, giving her a soul of extremely high purity.

In just a hundred years, she had advanced from a Mid to Highgod, and even completed a Five-Star Fiend mission, officially becoming a powerful Five-Star Fiend.

At present, Linley had already become a Midgod in Earth, Water, and Wind, and had just become a God in Fire.

Reyna and Luoshen had slightly inferior talents. Both had only just recently reached the level of Midgod.

However, Reyna had unexpectedly become a God in the Laws of Light, which was a pleasant surprise.

As for Eunice, although still just a Lowgod, she possessed a full set of Highgod defensive divine artifacts and had long passed the Fiend Trials.

That day, the five of them accepted a new mission together.

The mission was to kill a Six-Star Fiend and the many guards in his fortress. Therefore, quite a few other Fiends had also been invited.

Lina, as a powerful Five-Star Fiend, was one of only four Five-Star Fiends participating in this mission.

The group, under the guidance of the task proctor, boarded a metallic lifeform and flew northward from the former Extreme Intent City.

"Reyna, Linley, Luoshen, Eunice," Lina turned to the other four, "this mission won't be easy. Make sure to protect yourselves."

All four nodded. Each of them wore a full set of defensive divine artifacts granted by Sadius. Unless they encountered a Seven-Star Fiend, they should be perfectly safe.

"Everyone, the mission site is just ahead," the proctor announced. "You will need to enter that fortress and eliminate the guards inside. Collect their badges. The more badges you obtain, the higher your reward."

This mission was not a formal assessment and would be rewarded in inkstones.

These words were directed at the Midgod Fiends, most of whom were Two-Star or Three-Star Fiends with decent experience.

Then, the proctor gave separate instructions to the five Highgod Five-Star Fiends.

"You five must join forces to kill a Six-Star Fiend. If you succeed, you will all be promoted to Six-Star Fiends."

For the four Five-Star Fiends, this mission was an assessment. Completion would result in their promotion.

In terms of law comprehension alone, Lina was only comparable to a dual-fusion Highgod.

However, thanks to her secret techniques, her overall combat strength had already reached the level of a Six-Star Fiend. That's why she had accepted this mission—to earn her promotion early.

As the mission began, the five Five-Star Fiends each led a squad of Midgod Fiends to infiltrate the fortress.

Naturally, Lina kept Reyna, Linley, Luoshen, and Eunice at her side to protect them personally.

Lina led a ten-man Midgod Fiend team inside the castle. Their first task was to eliminate the Midgod guards. Otherwise, once the fight against the Six-Star Fiend began, a combined assault from these guards could pose serious trouble even for the Five-Star Fiends.

Their plan had already been laid out prior to infiltration. Lina and her group scouted the corridors for patrolling guards.

As a practitioner of the Laws of Death, Lina had learned some soul-manipulation techniques.

When they encountered their first patrol squad, Lina immediately used a charm technique to seize control of one of the Midgod and extract valuable information.

"Everyone," she reported, "the intel we had was wrong. There are actually five Highgods stationed in this fortress. The mission just got much harder."

Upon hearing this, the other Highgod Fiends began to waver.

Four extra Highgods meant four more deadly threats.

With only five Highgods among the invading force, if they got split up, they would be picked off one by one—even the Six-Star Fiend could take advantage of it.

"Mother, I think I can hold off one Highgod," Linley stepped forward confidently.

"We'll be fine too. If things go south, we'll use that," Reyna said via divine sense.

What she meant, of course, was the Sovereign's Might.

To ensure their safety, Sadius had given each of them a single drop of Sovereign's Might.

He didn't give them more because he didn't want them to become dependent on it.

One drop was enough. If one drop couldn't save them, then they should simply retreat.

"Alright. If that's the case, we still have a shot at completing the mission."

The group continued to stealthily infiltrate deeper into the fortress.

Soon after, chaos erupted within the castle.

Clearly, the other teams had encountered unexpected problems.

"Kill!" With the situation deteriorating, Lina's group no longer held back. They charged straight at a patrolling guard unit nearby.

The battle broke out instantly.

Fights broke out across the fortress.

Under Lina's leadership, their team had already eliminated three patrol squads, each made up of five Midgods.

The Midgod Fiends in the squad had effectively completed their portion of the mission.

But there were still many patrols left in the fortress—they had to continue the sweep.

Just then, the fortress lord took notice of the situation and dispatched four Highgods along with additional patrols to clear out the intruders.

And as for the fortress lord himself, after observing that Lina's group was more dangerous than the rest, he decided to intervene personally.

"I had hoped to bide my time here in Ziyang Prefecture, slowly gathering strength until I could challenge a Seven-Star Fiend and become a city lord. But it seems…I'll have to reveal myself earlier than planned."

With a sigh, the man rose to enter the battlefield.
