Chapter 88 - Chapter 88 – The Amethyst Mountains

Sadius' Second True Body had been created.

But it did not result in the fourfold soul mutation he had hoped for.

It wasn't that the Extreme Intent Fiend's research theory was a failure—rather, the outcome of his Second True Body was… unusual.

It actually needed to incubate like an egg before it could truly be born.

Right now, Sadius could sense that the separated portion of his soul had fallen into slumber, he could only faintly perceive its existence.

Wanting that split soul to immediately return to his original body was clearly impossible.

But how was he supposed to hatch this Azure Dragon egg?

Would it somehow incubate on its own?

And how long would it take?

Sadius had no idea.

And if that split soul could never return,

then Sadius could never progress from a threefold soul mutation to a fourfold soul mutation.

There was another issue—Sadius realized his innate divine ability had vanished.

His main body could no longer use Azure Dragon Transformation!

This was something he hadn't anticipated—he never thought that creating a Second True Body would actually strip him of his Divine Beast identity.

The only explanation he could think of…was that his innate divine ability had been carried away by the separated soul.

Sadius couldn't help but sigh.

He had lost one of his trump cards.

Azure Dragon Transformation wasn't just a second divine body for him—it was also the key to unleashing his Dragon Roar.

Without it, if someone ever tried to soul-search his memories in the future, his soul would have no natural way to resist.

Still, since he was already a God, as long as he didn't willingly allow someone to soul-search,

his secrets should remain safe.

Just then, a powerful divine sense swept over the hotel from outside.

"Who dares recklessly unleash a soul attack within Blackcloud City?!"

Sadius heard the cold divine sense transmission—it was clearly directed at him.

He immediately sent back a respectful divine sense reply:

"Apologies, I was cultivating just now and accidentally triggered a soul fluctuation."

"Hmph. I'll overlook it this time. The attack harmed no one. But if it happens again, you'll be executed without mercy!"

The divine sense vanished.

Sadius let out a small breath.

"Well… maybe it's better that the innate ability is gone for now. Otherwise, the Dragon Roar would trigger automatically every time. It's almost time to head for the Amethyst Mountains anyway. I should start preparing."

A few days later, someone from the hotel came to notify Sadius and Dylin.

They gathered their belongings and followed the messenger to the mission assembly point.

Soon, outside the city, a large group of Midgods had gathered.

Sadius and Dylin handed in their mission proof.

"Welcome, you two. We'll be departing shortly."

This mission's destination was the Carte Family—one of the Eight Families around the outer region of the Amethyst Mountains.

The mission required one Highgod Fiend and six Midgod Fiends to escort goods.

The journey was over a hundred million kilometers, and bandits could appear along the way, so having a Highgod seated as protection was necessary. If a fight broke out, the Midgod Fiends were expected to join as well.

Before long, all participating Fiends arrived.

The cargo owner brought out a metal lifeform, which transformed into a massive metallic giant ram.

The Highgod Fiend entered first, followed by Sadius and the six other Midgods.

Inside the metal lifeform, the cargo owner and the Highgod Fiend sat in a separate compartment,

while the six Midgod Fiends sat in the rear cabin.

Clearly, the cargo owner valued the Highgod far more.

Blackcloud City was still hundreds of millions of kilometers from the Amethyst Mountains.

Even traveling by metal lifeform would take quite some time.

Everyone began cultivating during the journey.

Sadius, too, immersed himself in training.

His main body and his Earth God clone both continued to comprehend Earth Pulsation and Gravitational Space.

These two profound mysteries had long found their point of resonance—

it was just a matter of time to fully merge them.

With steady progress, he estimated that within about a century, he could completely merge the two.

These two were high-tier Earth Elemental profound mysteries.

In the original story, Linley had also spent several hundred years in the Amethyst Mountains, using the Earth Elemental Mysteries to merge these two.

But Sadius was more fortunate; since he had already found their resonance point, merging them was simply a matter of time.

Thinking of this, Sadius calculated silently.

Right now, it was still less than two hundred years before Linley's birth in the original timeline.

In the story, Linley had learned Blackstone Prison thanks to guidance from Reisgem.

The power of Blackstone Prison was undeniable—even as a three-fusion Midgod, Linley could fight against seven-star Fiend-level experts and even slay one.

It showed just how terrifying that move was. Of course, Linley also had the advantage of his strong body and the Coiling Dragon Ring.

Sadius very much wanted to master that technique as well.

But such opportunities were a matter of luck, not force.

Realistically, he'd have to wait two or three hundred years until the Amethyst Fog Sea Riot occurred and Reisgem appeared.

Besides, in the original, the Amethyst Lord only let Reisgem help Linley because the Lord owed the Four Divine Beasts a favor.

For most intruders, Reisgem would simply lead the amethyst beasts to kill them.

And honestly, Sadius didn't plan to stay too long in the Amethyst Mountains.

His priority was hatching his Second True Body.

As long as he achieved a fourfold soul mutation, he could gain a Will-type ability.

With Power of Will, he would truly roam the Coiling Dragon Universe without fear.

Of course, Sadius wasn't entirely sure how powerful Will really was.

Back in his past life when he read the novel, there had been debates—some said Will simply amplified your strength, like one Will gave a tenfold boost, and fourfold soul mutation would multiply by dozens of times.

So even with Midgod-level fourfold soul mutation, a thousandfold fusion boost combined with a few dozen fold Will boost was at best tens of thousands of times amplification.

And that still couldn't overpower a normal single-Law Paragon.

Others argued Will contained authority, independent of raw combat power,

able to easily banish even Paragon-level Highgods—maybe not kill them, but banishing was trivial.

Sadius stopped overthinking.

Once all four Laws reached the Highgod level, wouldn't he easily surpass a Paragon anyway?

Everyone focused on their cultivation.

A few days later, the convoy really did encounter bandits.

But the Highgod Fiend simply released his divine power.

The bandits, upon sensing a Highgod, immediately retreated.

This was exactly why escort missions always hired a Highgod.

Most bandits couldn't distinguish a Highgod Fiend's true power just from their aura and badge.

So generally, bandits didn't dare rob metal lifeforms with Highgod Fiends aboard.

After all, if they ran into a six-star or seven-star Fiend, they'd never return alive.

Bandits valued their lives, too.

After scaring off the bandits once, the metal lifeform continued on its journey.

Blackcloud City was over hundreds of millions of kilometers from the Amethyst Mountains.

Even a metal lifeform traveled less than a million kilometers per day, so the journey took several months.

During that time, they ran into one or two more groups of bandits every month.

Each time, the Highgod Fiend's mere presence was enough to drive them away.

So the journey was uneventful, if a bit tense.

Several months later, the convoy finally saw a vast range of mountains in the distance.

"Is that… the Amethyst Mountains?"

The Amethyst Mountains were immense, larger than the entire Yulan Continent many times over.

They were shrouded in endless mist, making it impossible to see the true terrain.

This was the heart of the Amethyst Continent, and also the birthplace of the Amethyst Chief Sovereign.

Soon, the metal lifeform descended toward a castle.

This was the Carte Family's stronghold at the outer region of the Amethyst Mountains.

This was the end point of their mission.

The cargo owner was delivering supplies to the Carte Family.

When the metal lifeform landed outside the castle, the mission officially ended.

"Thank you, everyone, for your help this time. The mission rewards have been distributed. If this is your first time at the Amethyst Mountains, you can enter and try your luck collecting amethysts. Finding even a few can earn you quite a bit of income!"

The cargo owner smiled slyly.

As a member of the Carte Family, he always "accidentally" mentioned the amethysts inside the mountains, a subtle way to advertise his family's business.

Someone asked, "Can anyone just freely mine amethysts?"

"Not exactly. The Amethyst Mountains are jointly managed by the Eight Families. They do allow outsiders to enter and collect amethysts. But if you want to leave, you must either present the token you purchased from the Eight Families when entering, or pay three amethysts."

"How much is a token?"

"One token costs five thousand blackstone coins."

Everyone drew in a sharp breath—not because the token was expensive, but because the Eight Families were blatant extortionists.

If you didn't buy a token, you'd have to pay three amethysts to leave.

Do you know how much that was?

A single amethyst sold for ten thousand blackstones at Amethyst Castle, even the buy-back price was seven thousand.

So three amethysts would cost over twenty-one thousand blackstones!

"Where can we buy a token?"

"Please follow me," the cargo owner said with a smile.

He could get a commission for referring people to buy tokens, so of course he was happy.

Sadius and Dylin followed along.

Soon, the cargo owner led the six Midgods to a special entrance.

There, they purchased their token badges, then one by one flew into the mountain range.

"Dylin, remember—never enter the misty areas. Even if you see amethysts inside, don't take the risk. The Amethyst Mountains' mist is terrifying; even Highgods get lost in it."

Dylin nodded.

Both of them had read books about the Amethyst Mountains and knew they must never venture into the mist.

Still, Sadius reminded him again—because wandering into the mist meant almost certain death.

It was said the entire Amethyst Mountains might actually be a giant amethyst spatial construct released by the Amethyst Chief Sovereign.

Without her help, you could never escape.

Sadius and Dylin entered the Amethyst Mountains but didn't stay with the other Midgods.

Inside, the mountains were filled with many figures, all flying along the outer edge of the mist.

Unlike ordinary mining, amethysts here were acquired purely by luck.

From time to time, an amethyst would fly out of the mist—whoever snatched it first would own it.

If someone happened to grab a large cluster, it could even spark fights among the Midgods nearby.

After all, even a small pile of amethysts could be thousands of pieces, and a slightly larger cluster might contain tens of thousands, worth tens of millions of blackstones—who wouldn't be tempted?

Right after entering the mountains, Sadius discovered an unexpected advantage.

His threefold soul mutation divine sense could actually penetrate a bit deeper into the mist than others.

 He hadn't expected that.

But even such a small edge meant he could see amethysts earlier than everyone else, and grab them before others even reacted.

Immediately, Sadius released his divine sense to scan.

Before long, he sensed an amethyst flying out of the mist.

It was headed straight toward another Midgod.

 Sadius didn't hesitate.

He flew forward swiftly, and before that Midgod even realized what was happening, Sadius had already caught the amethyst and vanished.

The Midgod stared blankly, utterly confused by what just happened.

Sadius looked at the amethyst in his hand and immediately used the Coiling Dragon Ring to refine it.

Inside the ring, Doehring Cowart absorbed the pure soul energy and continued his cultivation.

Over the next stretch of time, Sadius repeatedly got to amethysts ahead of others, but since it was always only one or two pieces at a time, no one noticed anything strange.

Meanwhile, deep in the Amethyst Mountains…a young amethyst beast lay lazily dozing.

The Amethyst Fog Sea Riot wouldn't happen for several hundred more years.

For now, it had nowhere to go and could only nap in boredom.

Suddenly, on a massive amethyst wall nearby, a giant face appeared.

"Reisgem, want to go out and play?"

 Reisgem's eyes immediately lit up.

"Mother, I can go out early?!"

"Ahem… not to play. I have a task for you."

The Amethyst Chief Sovereign smiled.

"No… I don't want to. If I can't actually go have fun, what's the point?"

Reisgem was a bit dejected.

Mother rarely let him leave the Amethyst Mountains—except during the Amethyst Fog Sea Riot every hundred million years, or the Planar War every trillion years.

Otherwise, he hardly ever got to have any real fun.

But this time, the Fog Sea Riot and the Planar War were both approaching, so he was finally about to get a chance to really play.

"Fine. If you handle this for me, I'll let you go out early to play. How about that?"

 Reisgem instantly perked up.

"Really?! Then what's the task? I'll do it!"

"Bring back a certain Midgod safely. He must be unharmed—and bring the azure-colored egg he carries as well. Make sure there are absolutely no accidents."

 "A Midgod? …An egg?"

Reisgem tilted his head, curious.

Just what kind of Midgod would Mother personally ask him to fetch?

And the important thing was… clearly the egg.

But what kind of egg was it?

The Amethyst Chief Sovereign's giant face faded.

 Reisgem immediately stood up.

"Little ones! Come with me! Time to kill!"

Mother had only said to bring back the Midgod and the egg—she hadn't said he couldn't do other things along the way.

So of course Reisgem was going to have some fun first.

The mountain outskirts had plenty of weak little Midgods—perfect for continuing the throwing-stones game he hadn't finished last time.

Then, Reisgem leapt onto the head of a massive amethyst beast, and led the amethyst beast army charging south from the mountain's core.
