Chapter 1 - The First Dungeon Break

Two thousand years ago, a man wielding one singular sword traveled across untamed land. He cut through monsters, and eventually made it into a massive valley. His sword, seemingly identical to Excalibur, was always by his side. Its bright glow forced every low-level monster to flee on sight, leaving the man to deal with nothing but powerful foes. After walking until nightfall, the man made it to a small clearing in the forest. Within the center of this clearing, was a cylindrical stone with a magic circle drawn on it. The circle had a cut slashed through it, making it incomplete. "Ahh, that's why…" The man began speaking, "...With an incomplete magic circle, some of the monsters are bound to escape. This should be a simple fix though." He placed his hand on the circle and channeled mana through it. Just then, the circle began to glow, and he put his hand down, "All done..." The man started walking away, "...Now, time for the big guy."

After walking for a few more hours, he made it to a desert-like area. Crumbled rock, and thick sand covered the ground, with dust blocking anything's view. Dead trees were scattered across the area, leaving no greenery in sight. The man drew his sword and gazed in front of him. Suddenly, a demonic creature with horns and a black stubby body rushed at him. TNG! The two of them clashed, but the man's body began fuzzy, and he swung downwards. Suddenly, black goop spurted out from the monster, and it dissipated into the ground like a liquid. "These monsters… they're small but strong. Was this dungeon Emperor tier? How careless of us to let it get this bad." Suddenly, two more demonic monsters lunged at him. The man jumped up, twisting his body and skewering one of the monsters while evading the other. He pulled his sword out of the monster, and pulled a stance. The remaining monster jumped at him, but he redirected the attack, forcing it to the ground and stabbing it. DM, DM, DM! Loud thudding came rolling in. Another monster appeared. This time, it was much larger, nearly two and a half meters tall. It held a muscular build, and two horns that spiraled evenly across from each other. Its eyes were dark red that glared down at the man. The man smiled, and raised his left arm, "With this offering, I behold unto thee my power…" Suddenly, frost covered the ground, and the air grew much colder, "...Temp Glacier." Suddenly, a massive block of ice slammed into the ground, squashing the monster into black liquid. The man's expression remained unchanged as he continued walking. After another moment, he snapped his fingers, and a large gust of wind pushed the dust higher into the sky, revealing the rest of the desert. The man's eyes widened. Hundreds -if not thousands- of demonic-looking monsters covered the area. Each one of them held a slight dark red aura around it, making them seem slightly menacing. The man took a step back, and darted away before they could notice his presence.

After retreating into the forest, the man set down his sword and lit a fire for the night. "This is much worse than I thought. I expected an Emperor tier dungeon to be tough, but this is completely different. Something like this is beyond the level of dungeons as a whole. This is some sort of Godly authority…" He let out a sigh, "...Alright… I'll rest for the night and go back tomorrow. I cannot let this threat spread beyond this point." He cast a spell, forming a small rock hut around him, and nestled down, closing his eyes for the night.

Once morning came, he released his spell and stretched. After grabbing his sword, the man started walking over to the desert. He made it past the valley's mountains and made it to the desert without encountering a single monster. The dust was covering his view, so he raised his arm, preparing to blow it away. But before he could, someone placed their hand on his shoulder, and whispered, "Don't do that." It was a feminine voice. The man looked behind him. A woman was standing there in adventurer's attire. By her left hip was a sword with a curved hilt. The man whispered back at her, "Why? I need to see the monsters to kill them? And who are you anyways?" The woman smiled, "My name's Vumma. I'm also here to investigate the dungeon outbreak, and stop it. So I guess we're allies on this mission. And to answer your first question… We can't alert them yet. I've estimated about ten thousand of them out there. Each one of them is at least Saint tier. Some of them even Emperors. If you think you can handle that kind of power, be my guest. But let me escape before you do that." The man flicked his tongue, "Crap, that's a lot more than I had expected. Perhaps we'll need to retreat and find more backup. If we come back with an army, this'll be a lot more doable." The woman shook her head, "Unfortunately, there isn't gonna be anyone else arriving for a longggg time." "W-why?" "Well… word of the outbreak has already spread across more of the southern parts of the world. People are avoiding coming here at all costs. And that includes warriors. We've got nobody but the two of us for a while." "Then what do you suggest we do?" The woman began thinking for a few moments, "Oh, I've got it. We'll pick em off in groups. I can separate a couple hundred of them from the rest, but it'll only last a minute at most." The man nodded, "That's all the time we need. After that, the two of us retreat back here, got it…?" The woman nodded. "...Oh, by the way… what's your ranking?" The woman smirked happily, "Well, if you must know I'm a God tier mage from Vraldeen." "What type of magic are you a God tier on though?" The woman's smile grew even larger, showing her teeth and bright cheeks, "Hehe, all of 'em." The man looked surprised for a moment before running into the desert. The woman tapped her hand on the ground, pushing herself up with a massive pillar of stone. She began channeling mana through herself, and raised both her hands, "Allow me to call upon your strength. Bring forth the might of this world, and create a tremor unknown to man!" Just then, a massive wall of rock began pushing up from the ground in the desert. It cut off their portion of the desert from the rest, allowing the man to push away the dust without alerting thousands of monsters, but rather a few hundred. He stopped in his tracks, and pulled his right hand in front of him with his palm facing the monsters. He began channeling mana through it, and closed his eyes, "Set forth my strength. O' God Of Magic, I call unto you to grant me this wish..." Ice particles began to form from above the desert, spanning across every inch of the secluded area, "...Icicle Bombardment!" The ice particles quickly formed into hundreds of spikes that shot into the ground, cutting through countless demonic monsters. The man pulled his arm back and drew his sword, readying for battle.

As multiple large demonic monsters attacked him, the man evaded each swing from their pitch black arms and countered with smooth and swift slices. He cut through two monsters simultaneously, ripping them clean in two. But he let his guard down, and another appeared behind him, swinging downwards. DMM! The man flew backwards, skipping across the ground. Blood began pouring from his back, as he stumbled back up. The monster was about to charge towards him again, when a massive spike of rock plunged straight through its head. "Phew… Looks like that's all of 'em from this area…" Vumma walked past the monster's corpse, as it fell to the ground, "...I'll heal you, then let's get going, okay?" The man let out a sigh, and walked over to her, "Y-yeah, sure. Just remember that things are about to get harder and harder from here on out…" Vumma began healing him, "...Don't even think about leaving me here to die if things get too tough for you. I'll be able to bail you out, but only if you're close enough to me." Vumma nodded, "Don't worry. I have no intention of leaving you here..." Her face looked slightly worried. She let out a quick, soft sigh, "...Alright dude, sorry for asking but I gotta know… What's your name?" The man turned around to look at her. His face held a slightly surprised expression on it, "O-oh… I'm sorry about that, Vumma. I forgot to properly introduce myself. Haha… Well it's nice to meet you for real this time, Miss Vumma. My name's Calafir…" The man began to smile warmly, "...Calafir Monfril, of The Thirteen Kingdoms."
