Why? Why are you doing this? Merphis asked the man he once called his best friend with a soft voice filled with sadness. Why? Because I wanted to of course why else.
The man responded with a sneer. Do you have any idea what it feels like to live in your shadow? All of my accomplishments undermined because they don't match up to the great Merphis.
His voice was filled with deep anger and hatred. Merphis coughed black blood, even his wounds were leaking black tainted blood. The man grinned.
You know what the most surprising thing was? That the great Merphis of flames didn't even figure out he was being poisoned for 200 hundred years.
He laughed, you have no idea how exhilarating it was watching you consume poison with a smile, hahahahaha, he laughed maniacally.
I see, Merphis said with a sad voice. He looked around at the enemies surrounding him, thousands of king realm expert laid around him dead, only a few hundreds were remaining.
Of those, 3 of them were sovereigns like he was, his so called best friend was amongst those sovereigns. Merphis looked down at the black cube in his hand, his eyes hardened with resolve.
The mans face changed, give that to me Merphis and might consider making your death less painful. Merphis smiled and in response a flame rune lit up on his chest.
NOOOOOOOO. Before any of them could stop him fire exploded from his body. A pillar of dense flames rose to the sky and spread outward.
The flame pillar went through the planet like a javelin shattering it into pieces but it did not stop there. The flames continued spreading through space faster than light for hundreds of light years.
When they died down, nothing was left except an empty void of space that bubbled like boiled water. Thousands of kilometres away from the blast radius three people appeared.
They were the three sovereigns, of the thousands of enemies that went to face one man, only the three of them remained but their bodies were covered in burnt marks.
NOOOOOOOO, screamed the leading man. Bell chimes reverberated across the universe, everybody felt a sense of loss they could not explain, heavy rains fell on most habitable planets.
The universe itself was weeping from the death of a sovereign. Somewhere in the universe there was a planet completely submerged in water, however three days ago this was not the case.
On this planet, a beautiful woman with blue hair with silver strands was standing on a mountain peak, that was the only place not fully submerged by water.
Upon closer look one would notice this was not a mountain at all but a corpse of a mountain range sized giant beast. The moment she heard the bell chimes, tears streamed down uncontrollably from her eyes.
She waved her hand and a blue trident covered in runes flew to her. Her body flickered and she disappeared from this world.
Multiple people across the universe were alarmed by the sorrowful mourns of the universe, ancient beings that haven't moved for hundreds and thousands of years moved, all because of the death of a single being, a being once worshipped as the strongest human in known history, the sovereign of fire, Merphis Zulu.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Merphis woke up groaning, his head felt like it was splitting apart. He crawled off the hard stone bed, he felt parched. He found a bucket of water and dived his entire face in.
The pain lessened, now that he can think clearly he realised something was wrong. I..I died, so where am I? Is this hell?, His voice was filled with confusion . He looked around the room he was in.
There was a stone bed, a table with a lot of papers, a book, a pen and a mirror. He read them and he was disappointed. The book was just a diary of the person who lived here, it had nothing he found interesting and the papers contained the details of his experiment.
Apparently he was trying to create a law potion without either a law essence or law stone. Merphis thought that was foolish, those things are the main ingredient for creating a law potion.
What baffled his though was why? He assumed a certain amount of time must've passed since his death but he doubted the law essence reserves would've ran so low that people would need to find alternative methods.
It either this person was the curious and experimental type, he was probably a manatech pathfinder, that path is filled with mad people or maybe something had gone wrong with the universe.
He went to the mirror and what he saw shocked him, a young dark skinned man with short disheveled hair, he looked exactly as he did in his past life, he looked like a 19 year old version of himself if a bit paler and sickly.
Reincarnation was not unknown in the universe, as long as somebody reaches a certain level they can reincarnate themselves under certain conditions like a complete soul.
But he was certain he destroyed his soul when he detonated his prime rune. Not only that, people can only reincarnate into a baby or possess the soul of a newly deceased, he had never heard of anybody reincarnating into a younger version of themselves.
He sighed and chose not think about it. His eyes were suddenly filled with sadness. I wonder if she's still alive, he whispered with a reminiscent look before going back to what he was doing. Firstly I need to figure out my situation, there were no dates on this diary which was strange, who write a diary like that? He wondered.
That meant he still does not know how much time had passed. I will have to figure that out later but for now I might have another problem.
He closed his eyes and tried to feel his power but there was nothing, he was a mortal without a single drop of mana. He sighed heavily, as somebody who had once reached the sovereign rank, he dreaded having to start over again, he knew how hard that path was.
Well then I better get back to it, now the only problem was choose which of the fove paths to walk this time. He reached the sovereign rank with the rune path before maybe he can do that again.
If only that artefact wasn't destroyed, if the diary he found was right about it then he wouldn't have to choose one path but three, he couldn't even imagine the power he could wield with three paths.
As soon as he thought that he felt his mind being pulled somewhere. The pull was so strong he couldn't stop nomatter how hard he tried.
He felt himself travelling through space, stars and planets streaked around around him like shooting stars but he could somehow tell they were illusory and so was this space.
Then BOOM, his body came to a sudden stop.
