Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: It’s good to have a little brother

The blond man from earlier appeared behind Maguire, flanked by a few small-time thugs.

He stared at Maguire's back with open disdain.

Maguire, in a good mood, had initially planned to let them walk away alive—

But unfortunately for them, they seemed to be in a hurry to meet their God.

He decided he might as well send these small fries on their way to the afterlife.

Just then, another voice rang out.

"You'd better get on your knees right now and apologize to our boss," it said coldly.

"Otherwise, I can guarantee tonight's trash bin will be your grave."

Hearing this sudden voice behind him, the blond man turned with an arrogant expression—

Only to find several burly men in black suits standing before him.

His face shifted from arrogance to fear, with a hint of confusion.

He quickly plastered on a sycophantic smile.

"So it's Boss Jason… what brings you out here?"

Inside, he was panicking.

*Who the hell is this kid? Why would the boss of this bar, Johnson, call him "boss"?*

*Isn't Johnson under that terrifying guy Kingpin?*

*Could this kid be connected to Kingpin himself?*

*I've kicked the iron plate this time…*

One of the burly men, a bald giant, stepped forward.

"No need for small talk," Jason said coldly.

"You've offended our boss. Kneel down and apologize."

Maguire realized these were probably Little Jin's men.

*Man… having subordinates feels great,* he thought.

Looking into Jason's uncompromising gaze, the blond man hesitated, then asked nervously,

"I don't know… who exactly is this gentleman?"

He didn't get to finish. Jason's brows furrowed—

And the blond man immediately dropped to his knees before Maguire.

"It's all my fault! I apologize!"

Just then, Maguire spotted a familiar figure dart past in the distance.

He waved his hand, signaling the men to let the blond man go, and walked off toward a nearby alley.

After Maguire left, Jason misunderstood the gesture.

He gave a subtle nod to his men.

"Take him away. Finish it."

Terror filled the blond man's eyes as the thugs closed in and dragged him away.

Soon, Maguire stepped into a shadowy alley.

There, the stunning red-haired woman stood facing a man in a brown leather jacket.

His arrival caught both their attention.

Swaggering toward them, Maguire noticed the man's wary stance—he had already assumed a fighting position.

The redhead quickly intervened.

"Relax. He's just a passerby."

Maguire smirked.

"Need a hand, gorgeous?"

She turned to him and said softly,

"You should leave. This isn't a place for you."

From the man's appearance and outfit, Maguire instantly recognized who he was—

and was puzzled.

*What's he doing here? This isn't even his universe.*

The man in the leather jacket spoke coldly,

"I'm not interested in what you're offering.

Whatever tricks you have, use them.

I won't be sticking around."

With that, he turned and left.

The redhead's expression softened into a trace of helplessness.

She turned back to Maguire, walking toward him with a teasing smile.

"Little brother, you just messed up my plans. You'll have to buy me a late-night snack to make up for it."

Maguire grinned.

"No problem at all."

She gave him a sultry look, then slipped her arm through his.

Together, they walked out of the alley.

Near the entrance, the valet stood by the Bentley, scanning the street for Maguire.

Maguire approached with the redhead on his arm.

The valet quickly handed him the keys and bowed deeply.

Maguire glanced at her with a smile.

"Get in. What do you want to eat?"

Eyeing the Bentley, she smirked.

"Didn't expect you to be a rich boy."

Maguire just smiled and opened the door for her.

In the valet's envious gaze, Maguire sped off into the night with the red-haired beauty beside him.

PS: You all know who she is by now, right? The Avengers' social butterfly.
