Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: I am very angry, the consequences are serious

On the distant Brooklyn Bridge, several vehicles suddenly collided.

One sedan's hood burst into flames, and the chain reaction quickly brought traffic on the entire bridge to a standstill.

Through his enhanced vision, Maguire immediately saw the hulking figure weaving through the gridlocked cars—Dr. Connors, now fully transformed into the Lizard.

Beside him, George Stacy stared in shock.

"What the hell is that thing moving so fast?"

"Maguire, stay here for dinner. I need to get back to the precinct," George said sharply before rushing out the door.

Helen and Gwen emerged from the hallway a moment later.

"What happened? Where's my father going?" Gwen asked.

Maguire told them about the unknown creature sighted on the Brooklyn Bridge.

"Sorry, I've got something to take care of. I'll be going," he said, turning on his heel.

---

Soon, Maguire was striding down the street.

*Connors is a full-blown Lizard now—that definitely counts as a villain,* he thought. *Heh… here I come, Villain Points.*

He was about to head straight for the bridge when a black stretch limo came speeding down the street.

From the opposite direction, a man on a motorcycle suddenly hurled two throwing knives. Both struck targets inside the limo.

The out-of-control vehicle swerved and slammed into a parked car.

Gasps erupted from pedestrians.

"Those knives… that was insane! Who *is* that guy?"

"To hit moving targets in a speeding car… is he superhuman?"

"That's terrifying."

The rider dismounted in one fluid motion. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and a smug expression as he eyed the wrecked vehicle.

Then a man in a red bodysuit sprinted in from the side—Maguire recognized him instantly.

*Daredevil. Matt Murdock.*

Maguire's gaze returned to the hooded man. On his forehead was a target-shaped mark—not a tattoo, but an etched skin brand.

*Bullseye.*

A notorious contract killer, Bullseye was here under orders from Wilson Fisk—the Kingpin—to assassinate Senator Eisen.

Publicly, Eisen was a politician; secretly, he was Kingpin's business partner in New York's underworld. But when Eisen decided to cut ties, citing Kingpin's increasingly dangerous behavior, Fisk sent Bullseye to silence him.

---

Bullseye's lips curled into a sneer as he looked at Daredevil.

"A superhero in a tight suit? Boring."

With a flick of his wrist, a throwing knife sailed toward the blind vigilante.

But Daredevil's other senses were honed far beyond normal human limits. Guided by sound alone, he sidestepped effortlessly, the blade whistling past.

It was the first time Bullseye had missed a living target.

And it was a *blind man*.

The humiliation burned.

---

Spectators lining the street murmured in awe.

"Daredevil's incredible—this guy's attacks can't touch him."

"That's right. With Daredevil here, that assassin's got nothing."

But Maguire, watching from the crowd, was less impressed.

*So you're the reason I'm being delayed from collecting Villain Points? Fine. You can pay me back instead.*

As Bullseye prepared to launch another strike at Daredevil, a voice rang out from the crowd:

"Hey! You little nobody—you're wasting my time, you know that? I'm pissed. And that's a serious problem for you."

Heads turned toward a young man in a black suit—Maguire.

"Who *is* that? Is he insane? Does he have a death wish?"

"Big talk. Didn't he see how dangerous that guy's throwing knives are?"

Daredevil's head tilted slightly toward the voice.

*Oh no… it's that brutal kid. God help this assassin—crossing him is bad luck of the highest order.*

Bullseye's eyes narrowed as Maguire stepped forward from the crowd.

"What an idiot," Bullseye muttered. "Some punk looking to die."

A throwing knife flashed toward Maguire.

But to someone with Spider-Sense, it might as well have been tossed by a child. Maguire's reflexes were fifteen times faster than a normal human's.

Two fingers shot up and caught the blade mid-air.

He glanced at Bullseye with pure disdain.

Gasps rippled through the onlookers.

"He caught it—caught it in midair!"

"Oh my God, is he Superman?!"

Bullseye froze. As a master of projectiles, he knew exactly how impossible that feat was.

And just like that, his will to fight evaporated.

Now there was only one thought in his mind—*get as far away from this guy as possible*.
