Ivy's POV
Pizza in hand, we made our way back to the house. As soon as we stepped through the door, Faith flew past us like a tornado and disappeared outside. I shot my mother a questioning look, but she just shook her head, clearly not wanting to discuss whatever had happened.
After setting the food down, I headed to the laundry room to switch loads, making sure to use the descenting spray on the clothes. The rest of the laundry ended up in my bathtub just as a knock echoed through the house.
Following a brief silence, I heard footsteps approaching my door. "Here we are," my mother announced, ushering in two men carrying enormous cleaning machines. "Darling, they're here to clean your carpet."
I greeted them with a polite smile. "How long will this take?"
