Ivy's POV
Eric moved purposefully to the rear of the classroom, settling himself on the edge of his desk with a casualness that belied the seriousness of what he was about to discuss.
"This isn't how I typically start a class," he admitted, scanning the faces before him, "but there are certain matters we need to address." His voice carried throughout the room with natural authority. "Our wolf hierarchy exists for one fundamental purpose: the strong protect the weak. The higher your rank, the more lives you're responsible for."
He paused, dragging a hand across his face, feeling the weight of his own words.
Before he could continue, James, a confident male student near the front, interjected, "Alphas should understand there are better approaches to gathering information, though."
A derisive snort came from the side of the room. It was from one of his most promising students.
"Really?" she challenged. "Then enlighten us on how you would have handled it."
