"Of course!"
Faced with Alaric's question, Gwen didn't hesitate.
How could she watch her good friend die before her eyes, especially because of her!?
That was something that absolutely must not happen!
Gwen stood up, grabbed Alaric's hand, and looked at him tensely.
"Can you really save Peter!?"
"I can, but you must understand that what Peter did is enough to land him in prison."
Alaric reminded her.
"Then I'll arrest him myself if I have to! But I can't just watch him die!"
Gwen didn't hesitate for a second.
"I understand."
Alaric nodded and approached Peter.
Gwen watched nervously and hopefully.
Alaric raised his hand and activated the [Reincarnation] magic.
Thick black death energy enveloped Peter's body, and then, under the effect of Alaric's magic, the color slowly began to change, white life force started to heal his body.
Soon, Peter's nearly stopped heart began to beat again.
The injuries he had just sustained, as well as the damage the genetic potion had done to his body, began to rapidly repair.
Gwen clearly felt Peter's breathing becoming more even, and his face regaining color.
Overcome with joy, she burst into tears!
The magic was soon complete, and Peter was brought back to life.
"This is… wasn't I dead?"
Peter opened his eyes, looked at the night sky, then raised his hand.
"Peter!"
Gwen looked at the awakened Peter with excitement.
"Gwen?"
"I'm not dead?"
Peter asked in disbelief.
"Yes, the magic sorcerer Alaric saved you!"
At Gwen's words, Peter finally noticed someone else was there, and immediately recognized Alaric.
Because Peter admired superheroes, he wanted to be a hero himself.
He admired Iron Man, adored Alaric, and wanted to be like Gwen, to have superpowers.
"Why did you save me, when I've done so many bad things, even killed…"
Peter lowered his head, full of guilt.
"Because Gwen asked me to."
Alaric replied.
"Peter, you know I couldn't stand by and watch you die in front of me."
Seeing that her identity was revealed, Gwen simply took off her mask.
"I'm sorry, Gwen, it's all my fault!"
Peter said sincerely.
"Peter…"
Gwen shook her head.
"You don't need to feel so guilty. Even though you used the potion to turn into a monster, I still understand your revenge."
Alaric looked at Peter and said.
"Huh?!"
Peter looked up, stunned.
Gwen also looked at Alaric, confused.
"Aren't you a superhero?! How can you support the fact that I killed!?"
"Even though I'm a superhero, I'm still human. If someone hurt my friends, family, or loved ones, I'd seek revenge too."
Alaric calmly explained.
"So, don't cling too much to the past. Look forward. You just 'died' in that past, now you have a chance to decide what kind of person you want to be from here on out."
"I… I don't want to be a bad person. I don't want to be a monster, really…"
Peter looked at his hands and spoke seriously.
"Then, if you choose to be a good person, leave the past behind. After all, no one but us knows who you were. But if you do something bad again, I'm sure Gwen will personally throw you in jail, right, Gwen?"
Alaric turned his head toward Gwen, who was momentarily stunned.
"Huh? Yes, exactly! That's right, Peter! If you become a monster again, I won't spare you!"
Gwen composed herself and quickly said.
"Gwen, can you forgive me?" Peter looked at her pleadingly.
"Of course!"
Gwen nodded.
To her, he was a friend. If there was any way, she didn't want anything bad to happen to Peter.
And when she realized that the Lizard was actually Peter, she quickly connected the dots about why he killed Flash.
Gwen was somewhat aware of the bullying Peter suffered and had helped him, but Flash and his crew kept tormenting him behind her back, and Gwen couldn't always protect him.
So she understood why Peter snapped.
Even though Gwen didn't approve of the way he resolved it, nor the fact that he killed Flash…
But what could she do now?
Drag Peter to prison with her own hands?
If so, how would that be different from her, as Spider-Woman, letting her own father the cop personally arrest her?
The question is: could her father even bring himself to lay a hand on her?
"Peter, promise me from now on, you'll never do anything to hurt others again!"
Gwen looked at him seriously.
"I promise! I promise you, Gwen! If I ever do something like that again, I'll turn myself in to the police!"
Peter gave his word just as seriously.
He had already dealt with Flash, his biggest obsession; he had no more reason to be a monster.
Especially now that Gwen knew the truth.
He didn't want to put her through something like this again because of him.
"I believe you, Peter!" Gwen smiled through her tears.
"So now there are no more secrets between us~"
"Don't worry, Gwen, I won't tell anyone."
"Thank you~"
"All right, for now this matter is settled. As long as Peter doesn't inject the genetic potion again, he won't turn into the Lizard again. Besides, Peter, it's possible that you've retained something."
Alaric cut into their conversation.
"Retained? What exactly?"
Peter looked at his body in confusion, but didn't notice anything special.
Gwen was also curious.
"Want to try punching the wall?"
"The wall?"
Peter obeyed, approached the wall and clenched his fist.
At that moment, he felt like his whole body's strength suddenly surged!
It surprised and thrilled him.
Then he punched the wall with all his might, boom and punched straight through it!
"What is this!? But I'm not under the potion now!?"
Peter turned to Alaric in shock.
"Is it possible that Peter's genes have changed!?" Gwen exclaimed.
"That's right. When I healed Peter with magic, the remaining potion in his body completely merged with his genes.
The result is that Peter now possesses part of the abilities he had as the Lizard: greater strength, better endurance, and regeneration.
Even though he's not as strong as in his full form, Peter's current physical fitness is probably not any weaker than Captain America after the super-soldier serum."
Alaric explained.
"Really!? I can become a superhero!? Like Steve Rogers!!"
Peter suddenly got excited, looking at Alaric with hope.
Since he was little, Steve Rogers was his idol!
Especially since he himself was skinny, often bullied, so he dreamed of having such a body and strength, so no one could trample him again!
"More or less."
Alaric nodded.
"Awesome, Peter!"
Gwen was genuinely happy for him.
"Yes!! Gwen, I want to become a superhero like you!!"
Peter shouted excitedly.
"Peter, you're better with brains than muscles. Don't waste that talent."
Alaric reminded him.
"Understood, Mr. Alaric! I won't let you down!!"
