"The road to destiny is rarely walked alone; sometimes it's trudged with friends who won't stop bickering, a healer with too many notes, and a shadow who never blinks. But even then, the bond pulls, reminding you where the storm waits."
Elias's POV
Leaving RoanRidge was like leaving behind an old lover, complicated, exhausting, and everyone had an opinion about it. The gates loomed wide as our caravan prepared, the cobblestone streets crowded with gawkers who clearly had nothing better to do than watch me pack my dignity into a trunk, and Juno, naturally, was orchestrating like a general.
"Move the crates to the second wagon, and for the love of moon and fur, do not mix Elias's books with the weapons. He cries when there is a scratch on the spines."
"I do not cry," I muttered. "I express profound emotional concern."
Juno smirked without turning. "Profound emotional concern that involves wailing into a pillow for three hours."
