Chapter 73: Bond in the River
Harriet's hands shook as she rushed down the corridor. Servants made suspicious expressions at the sight of her, startled by the frantic look on her face.
"You-" she pointed at two of them. "Go! Fetch the guards. Now!"
"My lady?" one of the servants stammered.
"Do not question me!" Harriet snapped, already breaking. "Your lord lies dead in his daughter's chamber. Victoria murdered him with her own hands."
The servants gasped, whispering among themselves. One ran immediately, while the other was too stunned to say anything.
Harriet clutched her skirts, breathing hard, before calling to another maid. "Send a messenger…write quickly. A letter to His Majesty. He must know what Victoria has done before she does something again."
The maid hesitated. "But, my lady, if this is true… should we not detain her first?"
"I intend to." Harriet's eyes hardened. "She will not slip through justice. Not this time."
