Chapter 33: The Burning Bond
Nadeira floated lazily in the water between Orrisian and Nyxmaris, her hair rippled around her face. For a short while, she thought she could stay like this forever.
But then something changed…
Her chest felt like it was getting sucked from the inside, the glow under her skin flared too hot and way too fast. Her smile faded, and eyes blurred, ruining her vision.
"I… I don't feel-" Her words broke as dizziness slammed into her.
"Nadeira?" Orrisian caught her arm, alarmed. "What's wrong?"
Her head rolled back. A sudden heat poured out of her body as if she were on fire inside. Her lips moved soundlessly before her body went limp.
She collapsed into the water.
"Nadeira!" both brothers shouted at once.
Orrisian lunged, pulling her into his arms as her head sank under the surface. He lifted her easily, but then felt her skin burning against his chest.
"She's too hot!" he gasped.
Nyxmaris's eyes widened. "She's burning alive-"
