Chapter 30: The Choice
The question dropped into the pond like a massive stone.
"When can we three mate and completely seal our bond?"
For a second, Nadeira couldn't come up with a normal reaction or reply to his question. Then, she laughed.
It was like a real laugh that startled even her. Nadeira moved her head back, covering her mouth as her shoulders shook.
"You can't be serious," she finally said between chuckles.
But when she looked at them, none of them were laughing. Orrisian's face was carved from stone, Nyxmaris was grinning but with too much sharpness, and Caspian's eyes were dead serious.
"Oh my gods," Nadeira muttered, her laughter faded into nervous breaths. "You are serious."
Nyxmaris bent, and leaned forward on his knees, smirking like the devil. "Of course we're serious. Did you think Caspian gets to keep all the fun? Not fair, darling."
Her mouth fell open. "Fun? This is not… this is not a game!"
