If this were any other camp, the best outcome for these severely wounded individuals would be direct execution, rather than wasting incredibly precious medicine on futile efforts. In this universe, everything is geared towards maximizing efficiency.
"Gather the Shadow Assassins! I will use their heads to pay tribute to our fallen brothers!" Swain, his face etched with frost, muttered to himself.
"Yes, sir," Nekser's cold reply came from the shadows. That voice carried no emotional fluctuations, only the pure intent of death.
Nekser, originally a notorious murderer from Lycaeus, was rescued by Swain through a twist of fate and eventually became his shadow. In the original history, he was the chief of the Dark Raven Guard's assassination elite during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, known as the Blood Raven in the Raven Guard's brutal shadow wars.
The Shadow Assassins, a secret assassination unit assembled by Swain, consisted of 100 members meticulously selected from a camp of thousands. They were specifically responsible for dealing with threats to the camp.
It was no wonder Corax chose to overthrow the rulers of the Technocracy on Lycaeus through guerrilla warfare, stealth, and assassination. Lycaeus simply lacked the conditions to establish a legion for frontal combat; backed by the industrial world of Kiavahr, the defenders on the mining world could easily wear down all rebels. Countless rebellions had occurred in the past, all ending in failure. Therefore, Swain assembled such a force, small in number, but valuable for its elite nature.
"Brother, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have run around," Ephrenia said somewhat nervously, looking at Swain, whose face seemed to freeze the air, with a somewhat bewildered Number 19 beside her. This silly girl still thought that her own willfulness had caused all this trouble.
"This is not your fault. You go back for now. Number 19, you can stay and live with us in our camp."
"Number 19 is too awkward to call you. I'll give you a name: Corvus Corax." Swain directly sent Ephrenia away, then turned all his attention to the young Primarch before him. This was his first time carefully observing this Primarch, who was currently only half his height.
Unlike the grown Primarch, who would have a melancholic yet handsome face, the current Corax had a fair face, with some chubby flesh on his small cheeks, unlike the sunken cheeks he would have later.
"I think... I might be able to help Brother Swain..." Although the Primarch had just arrived, his intelligence quickly allowed him to understand the source of the other's anger.
"What method do you have? The camp is currently short of various medicines. Without medicine, they can only rely on their physical quality and will to endure. In my opinion, this is completely left to chance!" Swain said with some annoyance.
"I don't know either, but suddenly many strange pieces of knowledge appeared in my mind. While I can't say they'll fully recover, at the very least, it should be able to save their lives," Corax said with some uncertainty.
"Are you talking about psychic powers?" Swain suddenly remembered something. As the pinnacle of the Emperor's most successful genetic engineering, the Primarchs had various kinds of knowledge embedded in their minds. Whether scientific knowledge or various engineering machinery, all resided within the Primarch's mind. As long as sufficient conditions triggered it, this embedded knowledge would automatically surface.
Clearly, the current situation happened to trigger Corax's memories of how to use psychic powers to heal injuries, but because his psychic powers were not specifically for healing, he didn't speak too confidently. Although Corax's psychic powers were primarily based on shadow energy, psychic power itself was a kind of versatile energy.
The Imperium's psychic system is divided into 24 positive and negative levels, and the five most common ability attributes are:
Biomancy: This is a very common psychic ability. Biomancy, as the name suggests, is the use of one's own psychic power to strengthen the body and heal injuries. Most powerful psykers will have this ability to some extent.
Pyromancy: The 'fire' here is not fire in the traditional sense, but a mental flame that can burn the enemy's mind. Similarly, this ability is also a relatively basic skill.
Telekinesis: This belongs to an ability with a considerably high upper limit. It involves moving objects with one's will. Powerful psykers can even stop a planet. Psykers with telekinetic abilities often have an advantage in combat.
Telepathy: In the 40K world, telepathic psykers are almost as important as Navigators. When the Imperium has no technological means to solve interstellar communication problems, it can only rely on the choruses of Astropaths to maintain contact. Telepathic psykers can open channels of communication on a mental level, allowing messages to cross the star sea and reach every corner of the Imperium.
Divination: This ability, even among psykers, is rare. Diviner psykers can perceive the elusive future through the currents of the Warp. Sometimes it might be a broken cup, sometimes it might be a fallen empire. Diviner psykers are always troubled by their own abilities and filled with worry about the world's future. Over time, this power can drive one's mind into madness. The most prominent example is Konrad Curze, also a Primarch, a pitiable being tormented into madness by his own powerful prophetic abilities.
"Good, this is simply excellent! Corax, hurry and get to work." After recalling the Primarchs' innate overpowered abilities, Swain immediately pulled him into the medical room. Every second was incredibly precious for the injured miners.
The young Primarch also unhesitatingly walked towards the miners who could only endure by relying on their physical constitution and willpower. The young Primarch's face showed a solemn expression, and a mass of pitch-black psychic energy began to coalesce on his fair, slender palm, covering the horrifying wound on Medan's chest.
Strands of psychic energy were carefully controlled by Corax, gently flowing into Medan's body. Almost visibly, Medan's formerly faint and somewhat erratic breathing became steady as Corax's psychic energy entered his body. Medan's body was like a lost wanderer desperately searching for water in a desert, frantically devouring every drop of psychic energy.
However, for Medan's burly physique, this amount was still too little.
"Phew, no problem now." Corax felt it, then let out a sigh of relief. Immediately, a much larger amount of psychic energy gathered in his hand and began to be injected into the other's body.
Clearly, Corax was doing this for the first time. His earlier caution was only to avoid harming these first-time companions. Even though it was his first time using psychic power and his first time healing others, the Primarch's demigod-level brain calculated the conclusion in a mere instant. His psychic power could indeed heal these companions; now he just needed to increase the psychic input to proceed with the treatment systematically.
