Chapter 15 - Minerals

Konrad Curze, the Primarch of the Eighth Legion, descended upon a dim planet named Nostramo. How to describe this planet? It was as if the dying planetary mother, to compensate its inhabitants, had covered the entire world with a layer of dust, with everything else being adamantium.

So much so that when the Exterminatus was finally carried out on this planet, the Exterminatus weapon was directly inserted into the hole that Curze's amniotic pod had made when it crashed—a hole that reached directly to the mantle. Only then was the planet dealt with.

Therefore, even when Curze was tormented by various prophecies and unable to manage his Legion, with over 80% of the entire Legion consisting of various scoundrels and degenerates, the finances of the Eighth Legion, the Night Lords, still did not collapse. The adamantium reserves of one planet were enough for the Night Lords to squander for a very long time.

Compared to Nostramo, the current adamantium reserves on Lycaeus are not even a drop in the ocean.

"Alright, let's head out. Otherwise, everyone will have waited too long and will start to worry," Swain said, patting his full tool bag at his waist. A crisp sound of metal clashing came from the tool bag, like the sound of Throne Gelt, filling him with confidence and dispelling fears of future uncertainties.

"There's an estimated five meters of this black ore. The main task now is to mine these black ores! The mining of adamantium requires trustworthy people, and exchange is also a problem," Swain mused as he climbed out of the narrow mine shaft. Those damned greedy fellows would definitely keep raising the exchange ratio.

Even with the richest adamantium deposits, they wouldn't covet them. Can a cooked duck fly away? It's just ore that can be exchanged for some by-products of industrial production. Similarly, the rulers on Lycaeus aren't afraid of their supervisors embezzling, as transportation is controlled by them.

"Finally out..." Swain, laden with various equipment and the ore at his waist, laboriously walked outside. At this moment, most of his companions who had spread out to other mine shafts had also returned, but judging by their expressions, they had mostly found nothing.

"Swain, we didn't find anything on our side," Arendi said somewhat sheepishly. Before Swain returned, he had already asked around among the returned companions, but the results were very bad; everyone, including him, had failed to find their target. Now, except for the newly joined Corax and a few others who hadn't returned, it was basically a foregone conclusion, which made Arendi feel very ashamed.

"It's alright, look what this is?" Swain pulled out a tennis-ball-sized ore from his waist. The specks of golden light on it appeared so dazzling in the eyes of the miners.

"Swain, you found it!!!" Arendi excitedly took the raw adamantium from Swain's hand and carefully examined it.

"It's adamantium, it's adamantium. Looking at the compositional ratio of this raw ore, the adamantium content won't be low," Arendi confirmed after careful inspection.

"It seems Swain was a step faster than me," Corax's figure appeared silently beside everyone like a ghost. Corax's snow-white hand also held a piece of raw adamantium, though it was only the size of an egg. Unlike the disheveled miners here, other than some dust under his fingernails, his appearance was not as grimy as everyone else's.

The sudden voice startled everyone. Most of those present, except for Arendi , were seeing this handsome young boy for the first time.

"This, how did you do that?" Arendi asked, very surprised, seeing that he wasn't carrying any equipment that could assist in mining. It couldn't be that he picked it up from the ground, could it? But from his tone, it was clear that the mine shaft he chose also yielded results.

"I can just dig out this ore with my bare hands, can't you?" Corax asked back, somewhat puzzled.

"The texture of this metal is very tough; its toughness, hardness, and ductility are all perfect, but this is only raw ore. With a little effort, I can still dig it out," Corax explained the physical properties of this metal very thoughtfully. The miners looked at the raw adamantium in Corax's hand, then at the power picks in their own hands, and immediately fell silent.

Nonsense, who here doesn't know the physical properties of adamantium? But you just casually pulled out the raw ore embedded in the wall. No one can accept that!

"Good, very good."

"Let me introduce everyone, this is Corax, our new companion who just joined our camp. If anyone needs anything in the future, remember to help each other," Swain introduced him to everyone with great relief.

Especially many companions who came from the collapsed mine shaft, because they more or less knew the true reason for the collapse, there would inevitably be some repercussions within the camp. But now it's good, Corax himself found a mine shaft that might contain an adamantium vein, so the problem will be easy to solve now. Although it would be an extremely simple matter for a dignified Primarch to deal with the rumors in the camp, it's still good to save some effort.

"Corax, tell us how you discovered the adamantium," Swain was also very curious about the Primarch's experience.

"This..." The Primarch scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"It's very simple, I just walked all the way into the mine shaft I chose, then I knocked on the wall to feel it, and punched the weakest part of the rock layer, and the adamantium came out. There's no technical difficulty..." Corax said. This was also the reason he felt a bit embarrassed; although it was his first time encountering minerals, many pieces of knowledge about mining automatically appeared in his mind.

"Cheating, this is absolutely cheating, the Emperor, this dog, definitely favors his son!" Swain was already complaining wildly internally.

"Didn't you encounter this kind of ore?" Swain asked, pulling out a piece of pitch-black ore from another bag at his waist.

"No, the mine shaft I went into only had a thin layer of rock, and it opened up with one punch," Corax emphasized again the process of his discovery of the raw adamantium.

"Alright, Arendi , arrange for people to mine shafts marked 13 and 26. Also, store the black ore from mine shaft 13 separately," Swain said. Now that the vein has been found, the next focus is to reassign personnel to expand these two mine shafts. In the absence of large detection equipment, the reserves of the adamantium can only be determined by mining first.
