Chapter 299 - Apocalypse—The World's First Mutant, a Being Comparable to a God!

For ordinary people, psychic abilities like telepathy and mental power were invisible and intangible, something from another dimension entirely.

Even Tony, the Playboy, found this to be the case.

The billionaire never imagined that such abilities could be blocked by some kind of device.

"If that's the case..."

Tony fell into deep thought, his eyes soon lighting up.

It seemed Professor X's psychic abilities were likely released and controlled through electromagnetic waves, or more specifically, brainwaves.

Of course! The device Professor X used to enhance his abilities was called "Cerebro"—the "Brainwave Amplifier"!

He should have realized this sooner!

And if it was something as tangible as brainwaves, then for Tony, it was no longer so untouchable.

Instead, it could be analyzed, studied, and even controlled or countered, just like Magneto did.

After all, brainwaves, from a physics perspective, weren't all that complex, especially for a super-scientist of Playboy's caliber.

"So *this* is the secret behind Professor X's telepathic abilities!" Playboy's eyes lit up with clarity.

Once he understood this, Professor X was instantly demystified in Tony's eyes. He was no longer the lofty, untouchable figure he had seemed. If someone could develop a helmet to counter Professor X's powers back in 1973, it would be child's play for Tony.

And what about Magneto, whose abilities rivaled Professor X's in scope, covering the entire globe? That would be even less of a challenge.

Magneto's power was simply controlling magnetic fields, and to Playboy, magnetic fields were as common as dirt. He could effortlessly generate and disrupt them, easily neutralizing Magneto's threat.

As for the diary mentioning Magneto's ability to completely neutralize him? Big Tony dismissed it as trivial.

Though his suits had always been "metal armors," was it truly difficult for someone of his caliber to develop a non-metallic one?

Not to mention, his Ultimate Armor was already non-metallic—it was a nanotech suit!

Therefore, considering everything, the two Fourth-Tier Mutants revealed in the diary posed no real threat to Tony.

"Two Professor Xs from different timelines joining forces?"

Pushing those random thoughts aside, Tony refocused on the spoilers and was immediately intrigued.

*Professor X is a telepath. How could he visit his future self from fifty years later?*

*Did the X-Men already possess time travel methods fifty years ago?*

*Or was it the future X-Men who accomplished this?*

*After all, the future X-Men had sent Wolverine back fifty years. They're certainly capable of such a feat.*

But if that were the case, it should have been Professor X from fifty years in the future visiting his fifty-year-old self, shouldn't it?

Isn't the order a bit reversed?

The tone of the diary clearly states that it was Professor X from fifty years ago who traveled through time!

What exactly was going on here? Without more information, it wasn't something Playboy could figure out anytime soon.

"Phew!"

Charles, standing before another diary, couldn't help but exhale in relief.

The weight on his heart, which had been hanging over him, finally eased slightly.

Although Erik had caused trouble with the Days of Future Past Project, thankfully Raven was safe.

The project itself hadn't been destroyed.

In fact, looking at the final outcome, there had even been an unexpected positive outcome!

Still, Charles wouldn't allow Erik to harm Raven.

He was still desperately thinking about how he had to stop Erik.

To do that, Charles needed to control his own abilities.

But how could he achieve that?

The diary provided an astonishing answer: travel to the distant future and meet his other self!

But how could he possibly do such a thing?

Charles couldn't help but frown slightly.

He had no idea how to travel through time and space!

*I just can't do it!*

Charles had specifically asked Wolverine about this. Wolverine explained that his ability to time-travel from fifty years in the future relied on a mutant named Shadowcat.

But in this era, Shadowcat hadn't even been born yet.

What was he to do?

Charles fell into deep contemplation.

There's one thing I still don't quite understand: Professor X only accessed Wolverine's memories from fifty years in the future, so how could he have directly conversed with his future self?

Could it be because Wolverine's time-travel isn't physical, but mental?

By projecting his consciousness onto his fifty-year-younger self, did he cause his consciousness to exist simultaneously in two timelines?

This psychic ability is truly astonishing, and his mental power is equally awe-inspiring.

In the entire world, apart from Phoenix, is there anyone who can match him?

Oh, right, and we can't forget Apocalypse.

Professor X once battled Apocalypse in the Mental Space and got utterly crushed.

*Wolverine is accessing his memories to talk to himself from fifty years in the future?*

*What kind of operation is this?*

Tony couldn't help but show a look of bewilderment and confusion.

For a moment, he couldn't figure out what was going on.

*Aren't memories just images? How can they involve the time dimension?*

*This makes no sense!*

*"Mental projection?"*

*"Wolverine is actually using this method for time travel!"*

The diary quickly provided the answer.

It turned out that Wolverine's memories did indeed involve the time dimension.

Or rather, his brainwaves were the key.

Because Wolverine's time travel wasn't conventional. He was projecting his consciousness onto his future self from fifty years later.

This resulted in his consciousness—and thus his brainwaves—existing simultaneously in two different time periods: fifty years in the past and fifty years in the future.

In other words, Wolverine's brainwaves were bridging the gap between two distinct timelines.

*So that's why two different versions of Professor X could communicate through Wolverine's brainwaves!*

Tony finally understood.

However, if Wolverine's time travel was through the *Mental Space*, then Wolverine's age would be quite interesting.

After all, a fifty-year span was a considerable amount of time.

Considering that Wolverine traveled through time to execute the *Days of Future Past Project*, it was clear that Wolverine couldn't have been too young fifty years ago.

Working backward from this, wouldn't Wolverine fifty years later be an old man?

"All I need to do is read Logan's memories?"

"It's that simple?"

Charles, standing before another notebook, raised his eyebrows in a mixture of surprise and delight.

He had been struggling to figure out how to travel through time just moments ago, and now the notebook had provided the answer.

And from a practical standpoint, there were no issues at all!

Charles just needed to wait for the effects of the drug he had injected to wear off. If he avoided injecting more, his suppressed abilities would reactivate.

Although he couldn't fully control them due to his severe psychological issues, reading memories was a minor task he could still manage.

Of course...

That was only from a technical perspective.

Emotionally, Charles truly didn't want to do this. He didn't want to regain his abilities.

But Raven was in danger.

When Raven's safety was at stake, Charles would have to steel himself and do it, no matter how reluctant.

For Raven!

Charles gritted his teeth, a determined expression hardening his face. *This is it!*

Once this wave of medication wore off, he would immediately find Wolverine and contact his other self to restore his powers!

Charles secretly made his decision.

"Apocalypse?"

His attention returned to the diary, and the name immediately captivated him.

The diary had mentioned Apocalypse before.

Though the descriptions were sparse, this mutant was a powerhouse who had beaten the X-Men to a pulp.

Combined with a name like "Apocalypse," Charles had a good idea of this being's true power level.

Now, the diary had revealed just the tip of the iceberg of Apocalypse's strength, and it was truly astonishing.

Not that Charles was arrogant, but to be fair, his mental power ranked among the top in the mutant world—at the very pinnacle of the pyramid.

He could accept not being as strong as Phoenix.

After all, the diary was officially certified: Phoenix was a Level 5 Mutant.

Apocalypse's ability to utterly crush Charles within the Mental Space was something Charles had never anticipated.

After all, Apocalypse had reduced an entire group of X-Men to utter submission, proving he wasn't a mental or psychic type.

Yet his mental power was also so overwhelming?

This Apocalypse was truly extraordinary!

Apocalypse—the world's first Mutant, existing for tens of thousands of years.

Apart from Phoenix, he is undoubtedly the world's strongest Mutant, a singular entity reigning supreme over all others!

Space manipulation, energy control, molecular manipulation, matter reorganization, telepathy, god-like regeneration, immortality...

He can even arbitrarily enhance the abilities of other Mutants.

He effortlessly transformed Magneto into Magneto and enabled Professor X to connect with all of humanity without Cerebro.

A bug-tier Super Mutant, revered as a god by the world.

Even Jehovah was merely one of his names across his cycles of rebirth!

"So this is Apocalypse!" Tony couldn't help but marvel inwardly.

*Could this Mutant named Apocalypse really be such a monstrous powerhouse?*

*The world's first Mutant... he's practically the progenitor of all Mutants!*

*I wonder if the X-Genes in later Mutants actually originated from Apocalypse's lineage?*

*This wasn't just idle speculation from Playboy.*

*While the term "Mutant" itself implies a product of genetic mutation, the human body contains thousands of gene pairs. The direction of mutation should be completely random and chaotic.*

*But what's the reality?*

*The diary made it clear: all Mutants carry the X-Gene!*

*Even a significant portion of ordinary humans carry this gene.*

*This couldn't be mere random mutation. How could mutation spontaneously generate the same specific gene?*

*So Playboy had every reason to suspect that the X-Gene—that crucial element—might indeed have been spread by Apocalypse.*

Of course, all of this was merely Tony's speculation.

The Playboy had no way of knowing if it was true.

Then there was Apocalypse's age.

That guy had lived for tens of thousands of years!

This was truly astonishing, making him sound like an ancient monster.

After all, even Thor, the God of Thunder, had only lived for 1,500 years.

And then there were Apocalypse's abilities. Good heavens.

He could control everything—physical, energy, and mental—leaving no blind spots in his 360-degree mastery.

Just looking at these abilities alone, he was clearly on a completely different level from the other Mutants mentioned in the diary.

According to the diary's spoilers, most Mutants possessed only a single ability.

While these Mutants were powerful, the Playboy had ways to counter them, as their abilities were singular in nature.

But Apocalypse?

He didn't have one ability; he had a multitude!

Apocalypse was virtually flawless, a true Hexagon Warrior with no discernible weaknesses.

Even more terrifying was his ability to remain immortal and indestructible.

The diary was right: he was truly a class apart, surpassing all other Mutants.

Compared to him, all other Mutants seemed like watered-down or incomplete versions, utterly incomparable.

It was hardly surprising that such a being would be worshipped as a god.

Frankly, given his powers and capabilities, he was worthy of the title.

After all, in the Marvel universe, gods were merely powerful aliens.

Apocalypse could certainly be deified.

Not only that, but Jehovah was also one of his names.

And what kind of being was Jehovah?

God!

The name was known throughout America, no, the entire world.

A true god.

And that was... Apocalypse's name?

Meaning that throughout his long life, Apocalypse had also "served" as God.

This was utterly ridiculous!

His sheer audacity was off the charts.

Yet, when considering that even this god-like being was instantly killed by Phoenix...

...it only further highlighted Phoenix's overwhelming power.

Truly worthy of being the only Level 5 Mutant "certified" in the diary.
