Chapter 38 - Guardians of Order

Evening light bathed the streets of Tokyo in soft gold. Akito stood in front of a white door on a yellow building, holding his breath in his palm. There were few cars, fewer people. He placed his hand on the handle. Click — the door opened.

"They're probably still waiting for Hana," he thought and stepped inside.

A quiet hallway. Only his footsteps echoed against the walls. He reached the last door and knocked.

At that moment, in the basement of the building, sat Miyuki and Han.

"She's late," Han grumbled.

"I'll get the door," said Miyuki, walking over.

But just then, the door blasted inward with a thunderous crash, smashing into the wall. Miyuki barely dodged.

Standing in the doorway was Akito. One by one, Arden, Kenshi, Elian, Targus, and Aurelia appeared beside him.

"So… this is the famous 'organization,'" Akito said coldly.

Han jumped up.

"Miyuki, run! I'll hold them off!"

From his unbandaged arm burst steel wires — like veins and tendons reinforced with metal. They shot toward the intruders, but Akito caught them in a flash, yanked — and pulled Han off balance. Before he could react, Kenshi's strike slammed into his gut, sending him flying into the corner.

Miyuki tried to escape, but Arden appeared in front of her and delivered a powerful kick to the head. She managed to block, flew into the wall, but remained conscious.

Struggling to stand, Han shouted,

"Miss Miyu—!"

But his cry was cut off by a sharp strike with a sword's scabbard.

"Hey, steel freak," Kenshi said, "your opponent's me."

Skill Activated: [Seishin no Dōjō – Duel of Spirits]

The world around them vanished — replaced by absolute darkness.

Han panicked.

"What the hell… I can't see anything!"

He began swinging his metal rods wildly. Ripping off his bandages, he revealed a metallic arm, transforming it into a shield. But in the next instant, Kenshi appeared right in front of him.

Skill Activated: [Hakuyonshō Rendan – 144-Strike Combo]

One blow — and the shield trembled.

"He's we—" Han started.

He didn't finish.

The next 143 hits exploded across his body — sparks, flashes, slicing impacts, blood.

When the skill ended, they returned to the basement. Kenshi stood calmly. Han was barely standing, completely wrecked. The final blade sliced through the air — and plunged into Han's skull.

Akito barely glanced at the notification before dodging Miyuki's attack.

"Why are you doing all this?" he asked.

"Shut up, insect! I will rule this world, and you won't stop me!" she hissed.

Arden's fist answered. Miyuki flew into the wall. Targus stepped forward, grabbing her by the neck. She tried to counter, morphing her bloody arm into a blade — but Targus snapped it with one twist, then slammed her face into the ground.

"How many people have you killed for your ambitions, you pathetic hypocrite?" Akito asked, towering over her.

"If only you had drunk the coffee with my blood that day… you'd already be my slave," she sneered with a twisted smile.

"How dare you say that about the Jarl?!" Targus roared — and smashed her head into the concrete again.

Her face turned to bloody pulp. Akito raised a hand.

"That's enough. Aurelia, heal her."

Moments later, Miyuki's face was fully restored.

"Now wipe her memory," Akito added. "And implant a command — she obeys only me."

"So be it," Aurelia nodded.

Kenshi smirked.

"Now that's a woman. She's mine now."

"Even like this, she's out of your league," Arden shot back.

They laughed — all except Akito. He stood silent, watching Miyuki rise. Her clothes were torn, but her body — perfectly healed. She knelt before him.

"Greetings, Master Akito," she said with reverence.

System windows began to appear before his eyes:

[You defeated: Miyuki Aoba]

[Reward: 5,500 enni | Bonus Points: 10]

[You have reached Level 300]

[System Gift: Twin Blades of Chaos | 150,000 enni | Bonus Points: 100]

"Not a bad gift," he muttered. "Chaos Blades…"

He tapped the description:

Damage: 820

Durability: ♾️

Bonus Effects:

– Pierces any defense on first contact by each blade (2 charges per battle)

– Unleashes Chaos on the battlefield, distorting perception, attack direction, and magic accuracy.

"Holy crap… now that's a weapon," Akito whispered.

He turned to Targus.

"Activate your shield. I need to test them."

"Understood, Jarl."

The Brunhild Shield activated, covering Targus in a glowing dome. In Akito's hands, the twin blades materialized — sparking with red, white, and black light. Strange patterns flowed across their surface — living, warped, hypnotic.

In a blink, Akito stood before Targus. One slash.

The shield shattered like glass.

"It works," Akito said calmly. "One charge left."

He returned the blades to his inventory.

"We're done here. Let's go."

The Guardians vanished in a swirl of light.

Meanwhile…

In the Creator's Dimension — inside a palace crowned with a golden dome — several figures gathered around a massive oval table. They wore white cloaks with red stripes — a mark of their status as Guardians of Order.

Silence reigned, until one of them — his cloak bearing the broadest stripe and faint black energy — finally spoke:

"This is beyond absurd. First the Creator gives power to some kid. Then Zalgroom breaks the ancient ban by using his second form. Now Kronoran does whatever he wants… This must end."

"You're going too far, Karmas," said one of the elder guardians. "Yes, you're strong — but still just a guardian like the rest of us. Don't forget who gave you that mantle. The Creator's will is not to be questioned."

"Fool," Karmas growled, fists clenched. "You're all cowards. Sitting here waiting for orders while the world crumbles. I will restore order. Even if I must do it alone."

He slammed the table — the marble cracked.

His cloak tore from his shoulders as he vanished in a vortex of fire and black light.

"…He's lost himself," one guardian said quietly.

"Or maybe he's found what he's meant to become," another replied.
