Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The talk

After Isaac sat down and settled next to Saif, they just both sat there in silence, both of them looking at the ground, and the only noise that was heard was from Leo still hyping everyone up in the background. Isaac was about to say something but Saif quickly interrupted him and said, "I- I am sorry for the outburst I did." Isaac, stunned by his quick response, quickly says, "No, no, Saif, don't apologize about that. You didn't do anything wrong here." He pauses for a moment then says, "I am not here for you to apologise, I am here to check up on you. I just… I just never thought you would react like that."

Isaac lets out a deep sigh and continues, "You were just always the one going head on into impossible things and come out on top, and lead us all through it. We all just genuinely thought you would be able to go inside with no problems, and for a moment there, it looked like you would." He adds with a little bit of humour, "Honestly, Sally even thought you were able to move on from it all because we all left you alone for so long with almost zero contact and yet you didn't complain or tried to reach out when we said we needed 'space'."

Isaac then stopped looking at the ground and finally looked at Saif, and the face Saif had on was of pure emptiness that cut Isaac deep as he was in anguish seeing his best friend in so much pain. Saif was looking back, but it was like he was looking through him, looking at something completely different. Saif then looks at the ground, with a dead voice, "I never used to get completely on top. Look how many still died Isaac." Isaac quickly protests and says, "But look at the ones that lived." He then gestures with his hand to the others who are still standing there waiting for both of them while still trying desperately to distract themselves by still moving around like Leo said, but even he looks anxious.

Isaac then adds, "And yes, we have lost… ." His voice then becomes one in pain, "We have lost too many to that God forsaken place yes." His voice becomes determined again, "But you have to remember how much you did. You made us, even the ones we have lost survive so many levels, Floors and Worlds Saif. We all did. We all fought. And we choose you to lead us because we knew you were the only one who could. The only one who could possibly ever get us out of that place."

He knew he was wrong when saying it, but his darkness still made him say it

Saif looks at Isaac, the darkness in his eyes mostly now alleviated from his words. He already knew all of this, yet, the darkness that grow in him made him say otherwise. He strucks back to Isaac and says with a little bit of humour in his voice, "How long did you practice this speech." Isaac chuckles and then says, "Long enough that it came out decent." They both chuckle at that, and the atmosphere between them becomes better. Saif then adds, "Thanks for knowing exactly what to say Isaac. You always knew what to tell me at the right time." Isaac smiles and says, "Well, the only things that truly ever faze you are apparently not monasteries entities or horrific horrors no human should ever see. But the only things that do are the people you care about." Saif laughs but his laugh quickly turns dry and quiets down.

Saif puts his hands on the sides of his head and rests his head on them. He then says with his now dry voice, "I just remembered everything at once when I saw the inside of that place again." He gloomily pauses and then adds, "Just all of it at once hit me like a train, and I just… I just couldn't take it." Isaac, gets a saddened look as he also remembers all the deaths he bore witness to too. All of them were horrible deaths no human should suffer. Some were quick, some weren't. But all weren't something anyone should have to happen to them, or for someone to see it happen.

Saif speaks again after a while and snaps Isaac back to reality as he was also falling into the abyss of horrid memories and he says, "When I was walking to that door, with each step, one by one I saw all their deaths again. Every last one of them. I just could never forget. I don't want to forget. I want to remember." Saif continues, but Isaac says with him at the same time, "To keep this proof of love." Saif looks at him, and then a smile forms on his face.

"Hey man, what you say we end this?" Isaac says while extending his hand out to Saif. Saif looks at his hand then back at Isaac. He doesn't put out his hand, and just says, "I just need more time bro. Just a bit more." Isaac quickly then responds, "And you will never have enough. Just trust me bro and take my hand and let's do this." He pushes his hand out closer to Saif, gesturing his urgency. Saif, still hesitant, tells him, "Bro, I need more time. Trust me, when I am good on time I will tell you."

Isaac, surprised that Saif didn't take his hand, slowly pulls it back, but before pulling it back fully, he forms it into a determined fist. He then said determinedly, "No, come on Saif, come on let's go!" Isaac grabbed Saif's shoulder and started to tug on him to get up. "Isaac no! I need more time!" Saif said annoyedly as Isaac was still pulling on him. Isaac then said while still tugging and hyping, "No, you are coming with me and you are going to go inside as you had enough of a break by now." Saif, now really frustrated and angry, says while pulling back more aggressively, "Isaac, I said I need time!" Isaac, taken aback by his unusual response, as in the past, Isaac used to always push Saif to do things he was hesitant about. What Isaac failed to realise was that this situation was different.

"No! I said you had enough rest and you are going to go inside now!" Isaac says, fighting back against Saif, and pulling even harder on him while getting louder and more frustrated. That then gets the full attention of the others as they freeze after hearing them in anticipation. Saif is now fully pulling back on Isaac and furiously says, "I said I am not going to go inside right now!! I am not ready yet Isaac!!" Isaac, now also fully committed to pulling Saif, also furiously says, "Even if you aren't ready, you need to come now!! And you need to do this whether you like it or not as you need this Saif!! You need to go inside to finally put an end to all of this!! To that damn dark past!! To all these horrible memories!!" What Saif failed to realise at this moment was that he should have gotten up and pushed himself to go inside after hearing what be said.

Saif, now fuming, says, "I won't go inside!! Whether YOU like it or not!!" Saif then in a swift and quick motion struck Isaac's hand in a way that would loosen his grip, allowing Saif to get away. As Saif takes a few quick back steps, Isaac is surprised Saif got so far so quickly and realises the seriousness of the situation. When the others saw this happening, they quickly started to rush towards them, but Isaac raised a hand up, gesturing for them to leave it to him. He realised that Saif wasn't trying to run away, but wasn't going to go inside any time soon, which if he stays like this longer, he might delay it for too long, which will only make his desire to not go inside even greater. He knows the longer he is out, the darker his thoughts will become, and he doesn't want that. He doesn't want to see Saif experience that anymore. Isaac wanted a stop to Saif pain and anguish. Isaac didn't want his friend to forever feel this way.

When Saif got away from Isaac and was about to run around the hall to get away from the others when he saw them running up to them, he then noticed Isaac raised up his hand to stop them, gesturing that he will be the only one who would do this alone. Saif didn't want to go inside right now. He wanted time to think more. To process his new reality longer. But, right now, the biggest reason to why he is still being precestant is because he doesn't want Isaac to destroy himself after he realised what he was doing, and how pushy he was when Saif was willing to go inside, and he didn't let him have his time of peace. He will then know this, and will then see how much he hurt him by trying to drag him inside, which will in Isaac's eyes would hurt Saif so much and would think that he now made him even more afraid of the Purgatory, and that he made healing for Saif even harder, as now he was the one who inflicted the wound. Saif didn't want his friend to forever feel this way.

They both were in the right and in the wrong. One who pushed too hard and one who should have taken the helping hand. One who wants his friend to hurt himself and one who doesn't want to see his friend hurting anymore.
