Chapter 16 - The labyrinth exam part 1

"Mom, why is it that when we talked about the geography of the continent of the gods, especially the Kingdom of Chira, everyone looked at me as if I knew everything?"

Suddenly, Mom's face turned pale. She looked scared and nervous. That was a very rare feeling for her. The last time she was like this was when she told me about Tom. It was surely a secret. But what could it be? She had told me she had no secrets left to hide from me, so why was she afraid? Yet, I had a strong feeling this was something very important.

"As you know, Henray, your father is a prince. And he refused to remain a noble for a good reason. Have you ever wondered why he chose to live freely?" my mother asked me, sounding worried.

"No, never. But that has nothing to do with this discussion," I replied, intrigued.

"Your father gave up his title of prince and his noble status to protect me. Because, in truth, I am the Queen of Chira. Yes, your father was in love with me, even though we lived in rival clans. So, he abandoned his title to lessen the chances of me being killed. Yes… I am being targeted," Mom revealed nervously.

Worried and unsure of how to react, I asked her why she hadn't told me earlier. She replied that she had been afraid for me, and if she had told me sooner, I would have worried for nothing.

After that, we returned to the manor, since Mom and Dad were going to stay with me for a week. Once there, my parents began to explore the manor. They were astonished by the organization, the decoration, and the furnishings of the large house. Indeed, during my free time, I often went shopping to buy the necessary items and decorations for the manor. To be honest, I hate shopping, but when it comes to decorating my home, I don't waste a single second to buy the best items on the market. And after this day, every month mom and dad Come to visit me

Eight months passed, and the exams finally arrived..Only three days were left before the Labyrinth Trial began. It was the first test, but also the hardest—except for those with very particular skills. To participate, you had to join a group of ten, otherwise it would be much harder. So, during history class, the headmaster came to speak to us. It was about the groups. We could either choose to join one or create our own. I decided to create my own group with Aruna and Saru. First, because Aruna was my best friend, and second, because unlike my physical enhancement skill, hers could also boost her allies. As for Saru, I asked—or rather ordered—him to join, since first, he was my servant, and second, he had the ability of material detection, which would help us find what we needed inside the labyrinth.

The day of the trial finally arrived, and just like during the Eclipse, there was an examiner. After a long wait, he began to speak:

"Hello, dear students, and welcome to the Labyrinth Trial. As you know, the challenge consists of entering the labyrinth and finding treasures, resources, or even weapons. Each weapon collected is worth 10 points, enchanted weapons are worth 12 points. Resources such as arrows are worth 5 points, enchanted resources are worth 7 points, and treasures are worth 50 points. The only item worth more than a hundred points is the Scepter of the Spirit of Death. No one has ever found it before. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything!"

Then, a student asked him:

"Is it true that there's really an item worth 1000 points? Or is that just a myth?"

After a short pause, the examiner replied that yes, it was said to exist—but it was only a legend, since even a professional had never managed to find it.
