Episode 5
As soon as they pushed the door open, a chilling sight met their eyes. To the left, a zombie crouched low, hunched over a boy. The teacher froze in shock, a scream tearing from her throat. The sound immediately drew the creature's attention.
In an instant, the zombie lunged at her. Heart hammering, she stumbled back into the classroom, narrowly avoiding its strike. But the creature did not stop—it sank its teeth into the shoulder of the boy before it. Within seconds, it jerked its head upward, tearing away a shred of cloth and flesh. Gasps of terror rippled through the students. The chaos grew worse when the zombie pounced on a girl next, dragging her down.
"Run! Save yourselves!" the teacher shouted, bracing herself at the door as the students rushed out in panic.
Hasnain darted to Sana, seizing her hand and pulling her into motion. Sana quickly clasped Afra's hand, and together with Hasnain's three friends, they escaped into the hallway. Only when the last of them had fled did the teacher follow, sprinting up the staircase toward the second floor.
But halfway up, she collided with another zombie and fell against the wall. It lunged for her—
And then, suddenly, a twelfth-grade boy appeared. He swung a hockey stick with all his strength, striking the creature's head. It collapsed to the ground. The boy quickly helped the terrified teacher to her feet, and together they slipped into a nearby classroom, shutting the door firmly behind them.
Meanwhile, Hasnain and his group had rushed down to the ground floor. The corridors were in chaos, filled with screams and infected figures attacking others mercilessly.
They reached the men's washroom. Hasnain rattled the door handle, but it was locked.
A zombie turned toward Afra. One of Hasnain's friends leapt forward and kicked it hard, sending it stumbling backward. Afra stood frozen, staring in shock. Hasnain banged on the door, shouting with urgency:
"If anyone's inside—open up now!"
Inside, a boy sat trembling by the sinks, frozen in fear. At the familiar voice, his eyes widened.
"…Hasnain?" he whispered, stunned. Gathering his courage, he rushed to the door and unlocked it.
The group hurried in—Hasnain, Sana, Afra, and the rest—slamming the door behind them.
When they saw who had opened it, all of them exclaimed in unison:
"Ghanni?!"
Without a word, Ghanni threw his arms around Hasnain. At that moment, Sana realized her hand was still locked in Hasnain's. She quickly pulled it away, her face tightening with unease. Sameer wasted no time locking the washroom door from inside.
Hasnain's gaze lingered on Sana, intense and unreadable. But Sana looked back at him with nothing but cold resentment. Before the silence could deepen, Afra called her over. Sana hurried to her side.
Together, they stared out of the large glass window overlooking the school grounds. One by one, the others gathered. Outside, the courtyard was chaos—students were being attacked, and some were beginning to change before their eyes.
"What's happening to them?" Ghanni whispered, horrified. "They're turning into wild animals… one after another."
Sameer replied grimly, "I think it's a virus. I saw something like this in a movie once. People got infected, then started attacking each other. The infected… were called zombies."
A heavy silence fell over the washroom. They pressed closer to the window, helplessly watching the nightmare unfold outside.
The glass was strong, reinforced—but it was open slightly for air. Suddenly, a figure slammed against it.
Its clothes were stained red, its body trembling.
The group screamed in fright. They tried to force the window shut, but the figure wedged its foot between the hinges, holding it open. Panic surged as they pushed with all their strength, desperate to seal themselves in while the nightmare outside clawed for entry.
