The genesis remnant mountain cluster was characterized by massive, densely clustered and nearly- impenetrable mountain formations formed by towering, majestic mountains with steep slopes. The sheer heights of these mountains coupled with the narrow spaces between them gave rise to very deep and mostly narrow valleys. Most of these valleys were death traps as they contained flora and fauna that could serve the cold dish of death to an unlucky trespasser instantly and in many, different ways, or contained strange phenomena that made a violent death seem like a more preferable option.. The combination of these factors made the genesis remnant mountain cluster as inhospitable and generally non-commutable as it was dangerous .
From a bird eye view of the whole place , one could see that there was a thick curtain of tangible, seemingly impenetrable darkness that appeared to be made from the same substance as the thick dark skies of the mountain cluster , surrounding the extremes of the genesis remnant mountain range. This curtain of blackness prevented entrance into and exit from the genesis remnant mountain range.
Located in the far northern extremes of this mountain cluster, was an isolated group of three majestic, almost totally cylindrical, rocky hills. These hills had totally vertical slopes and an absurdly flat summit. Even if they could, most creatures that called the Genesis remnant mountain cluster home, had little or no incentive to scale these hills since it supported almost no life. The only creatures that had any use for the totally flat summit of these hills were the powerful ones of the avian species found in the genesis remnant mountain cluster who used it as breeding grounds all year round. For almost all other non-avian species , the smooth, slippery slopes of these hills made the practicability of scaling these heights nonexistent..
....most but not all,that is….
Elts were creatures known to defy the natural order of things, and Ma'chil, the kingpin of the group that had initiated an extermination campaign soon after just soon after arriving on this planet, was doing just that
Scaling the height of the second of these hills was no small task. Throughout his climb, he had to endure the potent force of the unnatural winds that constantly washed down the totally vertical slopes of this hill while simultaneously searching for the next point he could gain a foothold without falling off the slippery slopes. While the climb lasted, his muscles burned in protest against the sheer strain they were being subjected to. He even had to employ one of his Derived abilities to aid his climb, the very thing he was hoping to avoid giving the magnitude of the task before him.
What made it worse was that he was still a mortal, level zero being, a result of a well thought choice he had previously made. Thus, while he was climbing up the mountain, desperately clinging unto the unnatural clefts he made in the otherwise smooth and slippery surface of the hill's slope, he had no more advantage than a mortal trying to climb up an unnaturally tall cubic glacier without using any equipment.
" so much draw backs for having so much power at my disposal."
Now, standing on the summit of the hill, with the achievement of once again doing what was otherwise impossible under his belt, his sclera turned pitch black as he looked at the totally flat, five hundred square meter expanse before him scanning it inch by inch with the aid of one of his Derived abilities.
When Ma'chil awoke up naked in one of the relatively hospitable places of the genesis remnant mountain range he thought that his sudden inter reality transference was as a result of an advance central Government attack on the forces of the allied resistance army of the Degg camp base which he headed back in his home world. And though he knew nothing about the truth of what had happened that night even until now, he resorted to , making optimal use of the phenomena. So when the disembodied voice began to talk about an assessment and listed out some strange terms, he was careful to pay special attention to it after which he had set his mind to figuring them out.
His plans advanced in leaps and bounds when he discovered other relatively intelligent minion material…..ehh…..relatively intelligent people with whom he agreed to form an alliance.
But thing became dicey for their newly formed team when a power imbalance brought about by other members of his alliance discovering things that could grant them supernatural powers, fragments as they called it, was created. And even when they tried to assure him that they still saw him as an equal, he never bought that. After all, his experience as a veteran general had taught him that one could only truly rely on their personal power, or the power at their immediate disposal without being disappointed. Thus when he discovered something called a piece that could grant him supernatural powers through an Inverted Aspect Image, he did not second guess his decision of taking it. As it turned out, the piece brought about potent supernatural powers at an equally non trivial cost; he could not absorb another fragment or piece that would grant him personal supernatural powers or allow him to gain levels lest he risk degrading the power of the Inverse Aspect Image he now possessed. But, to him, that cost was manageable.
On the other hand if he kept feeding his Inverse Aspect Image, it would grow in power ,thus increasing the levels of power he could access.
" those fools will never get to understand the real reason why I pushed for the acquisition of slaves. "
These powers were so potent that, to him who was a level zero being, it was enough to successfully carry out the mission he was here for…..
... to hunt a creature at level 100 .
" ....talk about being over powered."
