Chapter 99 - Is This the Level of a Super Agent? Cassius Is Onto Something! Crisis from a Malevolent Spirit!

Outside a detached villa in Westview, three cars slowly came to a stop.

"This is the place." Nick Fury opened the car door and carefully surveyed the villa, his hand casually resting on the weapon at his waist.

"Two days ago, we detected an abnormal energy fluctuation coming from the Skrulls' house," Hill immediately stood by his side and began to explain. The other agents quickly moved to stand in front of Cassius and the others, as their main job was to protect them.

"Okay," Wanda nodded nonchalantly, but she looked to Cassius. In a situation like this, she would naturally ask for Cassius's opinion first, as he would surely know what was going on inside.

"It's nothing major. Let's go in." Cassius said calmly. As soon as he got out of the car, he sensed the situation inside. He felt an invisible black mist covering the entire villa. The evil black mist radiated an evil chill, rolling around the villa like a storm cloud. However, with the naked eye, it was impossible to see that there was anything wrong. He could only confirm that this family was definitely in trouble.

Nick Fury frowned slightly when he heard what Cassius said. He didn't expect Wanda to trust a normal person's words so much. But since they were already here, they didn't have many other options.

Knock, knock, knock...

Nick Fury walked to the front door and knocked with a wary expression. They absolutely couldn't let their guard down until they knew what was going on. In a moment, the door opened, and a middle-aged couple appeared. The couple looked pale and exhausted.

"Agent Fury." Because they had been notified in advance, the Skrulls had been waiting. When they saw them, the Skrulls' faces were visibly relieved.

"Let me introduce you. This is Wanda," Nick Fury said, stepping aside to introduce Wanda, who was wearing a crimson outfit.

"You're the Scarlet Witch!" The Skrulls' faces showed a look of relief when they saw Wanda. They knew that the Scarlet Witch was an Avenger. With such a powerful hero here, nothing bad could happen.

Wanda keenly noticed that Nick Fury didn't introduce Cassius and the others. She didn't say anything, but she frowned slightly. She could see that Nick Fury didn't think much of them.

"Please, come in!" The Skrulls quickly opened the door and invited everyone inside.

After entering, Cassius immediately looked around. The interior of this detached villa was very different from others. The decor was very retro, even leaning toward an Indian style. The floor was covered with a rug made of animal fur, and on a shelf, there was a huge moose skull hanging. Various animal specimens were placed nearby, showing that the Skrulls had a hobby for hunting. Even the books casually tossed on the table were about hunting techniques.

"Mr. and Mrs. Skrulls, could you please tell us what happened again?" Nick Fury sat down and immediately asked about the current situation. Although they had already gathered information once, that information could change over time.

"Sigh, here's what happened..." The couple explained what had been going on recently.

Starting two days ago, every night when they were about to fall asleep, they would hear a mumbling whisper. The whispers sounded like an unknown incantation, but because the voice was intermittent and quiet, they couldn't hear what was being said. And it wasn't just the two of them who heard it.

Their young daughter could also hear the whispers very clearly. After asking her, their daughter told them that every night, someone would call her name and tell her to leave. Because of this, they became more and more afraid. Not only because of their daughter's condition, but also because the voices they heard became clearer every night, as if they were getting closer.

After they said all this, the couple even started to tremble with fear, their eyes filled with terror. If it weren't for their daughter, they would have run away long ago! But they had no other choice and could only grit their teeth and hold on.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Wanda said with a serious and calm expression. This matter was indeed very strange, but she was more inclined to believe it was magic, as many black magic spells were terrifying. But without a clear understanding of what was going on, she didn't know how to proceed.

"Then we'll leave it to you!" The couple looked as if they had seen their savior, as their biggest concern was the safety of their daughter.

"Where is your daughter? I want to see her." Wanda made a request. The problem seemed to be with their daughter. Only their daughter could clearly hear what the other party was saying, so they had to start with her.

"No problem, my daughter is on the second floor." The Skrulls quickly led everyone to the second floor. When they arrived outside a room, they took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open.

On a clean white bed in the center of the room lay a pale little girl. Although the room's decor was warm and cozy, it felt chilling at that moment. The little girl, Sarah, was lying flat on her back, looking as if she were a corpse about to be buried.

"Sarah hasn't been sleeping well lately, and her health has gotten much worse," Mrs. Skrulls quickly walked to her daughter's side, looking at her with a worried expression. Her daughter had been having nightmares and waking up in the middle of the night.

"Ah!" At that moment, the sleeping Sarah suddenly opened her eyes and sat up. "It's here!" The sudden movement startled everyone.

"What's wrong?" Wanda came to the little girl's side with a gentle smile and comforted her in a low voice. Under Wanda's comfort, Sarah groggily closed her eyes and fell back onto the bed.

"What just happened?" Mrs. Skrulls asked with a panicked voice. Why did she suddenly sit up and then go back to sleep?

"Don't worry. Sarah probably woke up from being scared for so long, so I used a little bit of magic to help her rest," Wanda said after carefully covering Sarah with a blanket. "Don't worry, she'll have a good night's sleep tonight!"

The Skrulls finally sighed in relief when they heard Wanda's guarantee. They could only put all their hope in Wanda now.

"Alright, you can leave for now. The energy fluctuation was mainly concentrated in Sarah's room," Nick Fury said. Because the energy fluctuation had appeared in Sarah's room before, they had already moved her to the next room. After the Skrulls left, the agents brought in their equipment and began to inspect the room's structure.

"What do you think of the situation?" Nick Fury looked at Wanda. They hadn't gotten many useful clues yet, so they could only put their hope in Wanda. Maybe she could give them a satisfactory answer.

"I could feel that Sarah's emotions were very unstable. Something is affecting her mind!" Wanda said, gritting her teeth and expressing her thoughts with a hint of confusion. That was all she could sense.

"It's a malevolent spirit," Cassius said calmly from the side. "And it's here for Sarah."

"A malevolent spirit?" Nick Fury and Hill were stunned.

"Are you kidding?" Hill looked at Cassius with a strange expression. A malevolent spirit? Wasn't that something from a legend? Although there were many rumors about malevolent spirits in this world, she was more inclined to explain it in a scientific way.

"Mr. Cassius, please don't give us the wrong idea!" Nick Fury looked at Cassius with an unfriendly expression. It was already a headache to bring him along, and now this guy was acting like he knew everything from the start. This was just making things more difficult and even affecting their emotions.

"Director, Cassius would not say something without a reason," Wanda said, not backing down. She believed that what Cassius said was absolutely correct.

Cassius's expression did not change in the face of Nick Fury's doubt. After all, they weren't from the same world, and he didn't want to explain to them. It would be a waste of breath. He firmly believed that you shouldn't talk to a fool because they would only bring the conversation down to their level, where they would have the advantage.

"The instrument is fluctuating!" At that moment, an agent said in a panicked voice. Everyone's eyes were on the instrument. The instrument was constantly fluctuating and even started to vibrate. At the same time, the light outside the window became even darker, as if a thin layer of fog had covered it.

"No! The energy fluctuation isn't in this room! It's next door!" Nick Fury immediately noticed that something was wrong. The next room was where Sarah was! This meant that the spirit was indeed after Sarah. In that instant, Nick Fury and Hill instinctively looked at Cassius.

"Why are you looking at me?" Cassius said, shrugging his shoulders with a helpless expression. "You should go check on Sarah in the next room!"

Upon hearing that, Nick Fury suddenly came to his senses. Their attention should indeed be on Sarah. They rushed to the next room. But as soon as they opened the door, they saw something that made their hair stand on end.

Sarah, in a white dress, was opening the window. The cold wind from outside blew her skirt.

"Stop!" Nick Fury shouted, but Sarah suddenly jumped out of the window. This action scared everyone, and they all rushed to the window and looked down.

Sarah wasn't hurt at all after jumping. Instead, she was running away very quickly, as if she were flying. The others didn't care about anything else and immediately chased after the little girl. No matter what, they absolutely could not let anything happen to her. Although the little girl was running fast, it was nothing to them.

An incredible scene came into view. Sarah was running with her eyes closed, as if she were sleepwalking. But her speed was much faster than any normal sleepwalker.

"Maybe the malevolent spirit is making her sleepwalk." Cassius said while running, looking at the little girl with interest.

"Should I use my webbing to tie her up?" Gwen asked, frowning. It would be very easy to control a little girl.

"Don't rush. I don't think this is that simple. Let's just follow her!" Nick Fury shook his head, refusing Gwen's suggestion.

His intuition told him that the little girl's destination was very clear. From what he could see, Sarah had not strayed from her path once. This meant she was definitely going somewhere.

The reason he was so sure was that a person who was sleepwalking with their eyes closed wouldn't be able to avoid obstacles. But from what they had seen so far, she hadn't run into anything. This meant that the situation was not as simple as they had thought.

They followed her to a forest outside Westview. Sarah skillfully moved through the forest and came to a house. It was a dilapidated church. When Sarah arrived, she stopped running and woodenly pushed the door open, slowly walking inside.

"Wait a moment. This church is a bit strange," Cassius said, stopping everyone just as they were about to rush in. He could feel from a distance that the energy here was not right. He sensed something different.

The church was surrounded by a dense black mist, and there were invisible figures moving around. Although everyone was impatient, Nick Fury rarely agreed to stop. He then looked at Hill, gesturing for her to check for anything.

"Nothing," Hill said, putting down her device and shaking her head.

"Believe it or not," Cassius said, spreading his hands and making a gesture for them to go in. "If you don't believe me, you can go check it out yourself!"

"Wanda, what do you think? Should we go in now?" Nick Fury hesitated on whether to follow them. After all, Wanda was the one who could make the decision now.

"I trust Cassius," Wanda said, looking at Cassius.

"Boss, if we don't follow her, Sarah might leave through the back door," an agent behind Nick Fury reminded him with a frown.

"I don't care anymore. We'll follow her first!" Nick Fury gritted his teeth. He couldn't hesitate now!

"I advise you not to go in," Cassius said, seeing Nick Fury about to lead his people inside.

"When does the world's strongest super-agent take advice from a young man?" Nick Fury said, leaving them behind and leading his people to the church.

Cassius stayed put, his hands in his pockets with a calm expression. Seeing this, Wanda, Gwen, and Lorna also decided to stay behind.

"It doesn't seem to be a problem!" Nick Fury walked into the church's yard, getting closer to the front door, but nothing happened. The instrument didn't detect anything abnormal. He breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed there was no problem.

Beep, beep, beep!

However, at that moment, the instrument suddenly started making a loud noise.

"This is bad!" Nick Fury and Hill felt a bad premonition when they saw the instrument's fluctuations.

At that moment, a dozen strange black shadows crawled out of the graveyard outside the church and rushed toward Nick Fury and the others like crazy. The black shadows were very strange. In an instant, they were in front of them.

"Damn it, don't shoot!" Nick Fury said in a low voice and pulled out his weapon. No one knew what was going on inside the church. Shooting might alert them. It wasn't until their clothes were almost torn to shreds by the black shadows that they finally managed to get rid of them.

Cassius walked over, clapping. "Impressive. Truly the level of a super-agent."

Nick Fury glared at Cassius, his face dark.
