Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: Sanctioning Hades with an Artifact?

"Alright, no need to be so formal. This isn't our world anymore."

Aaron believes in doing as the Romans do, after all, he's been in this world for many years. He vaguely remembered violently beating someone when he first arrived, but it wasn't important enough to remember the details.

He was thoroughly enjoying life here. There was no Athena, no Saints, and especially no Pegasus to constantly fight. Why waste such a good life?

Dalamandis, who had just awakened, naturally didn't know what his Lord was thinking. He hadn't fully recovered to his original level yet. Even with the power of his Surplice, he was only at a Sixth Sense level. For Dalamandis, one of the three commanders of the Underworld Army, this was not enough.

He was a man who swore eternal allegiance to Lord Hades, unlike some of the others in the army. Dalamandis's loyalty to his Lord was absolute.

"Hey! What are you thinking about?"

Aaron looked at the newly awakened Specter strangely. Something's wrong with this kid. He doesn't seem as sharp as he was in his previous life. How did he become one of the three commanders of my Underworld Army? Even if the twin gods, Hypnos and Thanatos, look down on you, I don't!

The current Aaron wasn't the ancient Hades of old. After being in this world for so long, he had picked up some human mannerisms and was tainted by its atmosphere.

"Huh? Ah! Lord Hades! I caught this thing for you!" Dalamandis, suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, grabbed the cyborg he was holding.

"What is this thing?" Aaron was genuinely unfamiliar with the device. He had encountered plenty of HYDRA agents, but this specific device had never appeared in his prophetic visions. It didn't seem to possess any great power.

"I don't know. I heard it's part of a snake. Could it be Medusa?"

"It's HYDRA," Aaron sighed, shaking his head. He's a modern Specter, yet he doesn't even know about HYDRA?

Aaron wasn't very interested in HYDRA itself. However, the existence of HYDRA's alleged "ancestors" — the gods they worshipped — did pique his interest. After all, life was too long; he needed to find some fun.

"That's right! Lord Hades..."

"Don't call me Lord Hades. Just call me Master Aaron. Hades is long dead in this world, and I'm not interested in that title anymore."

Aaron was referring to the gods of this world's Olympian pantheon. He didn't know if they were truly dead or not. Even if they weren't, there couldn't be two tigers on one mountain, and there couldn't be two Hades in this world. He didn't believe a planetary god could pose a serious threat to him anyway.

"Yes! Ha... no, Master Aaron."

Dalamandis wasn't stupid. He was one of the Big Three for a reason. Among the Underworld Army, the three commanders had the highest strength, equivalent to the Gold Saints. When boosted by Hades' enchantment, they could even surpass the power of a Gold Saint. It was a shame there were no Gold Saints in this world for Dalamandis, a fighting fanatic, to face.

"Come on, let's go inside. There are too many people out here."

"Yes, Master."

Dalamandis followed Aaron obediently into the gallery. They both knew there were many watchful eyes nearby: the agents of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Hell's Kitchen; S.H.I.E.L.D. agents; and military personnel. There were also those who secretly coveted Aaron's ability to foresee the future through his paintings. Everyone wanted to change their tragic fate or become wealthy.

After they entered the gallery, the atmosphere changed. Although it was broad daylight, Zola felt an overwhelming sense that his life was about to end.

"Zola?" a cold voice whispered in his ear.

Zola realized his thoughts were no longer his own.

"That's right, you actually transferred your conscious thoughts into a machine to achieve a different kind of immortality..."

Aaron looked at the mechanical life form with an appreciative gaze. The human mind truly had no limits. A calculating dimensional demon might steal energy to survive, but this one had found another way.

Interesting.

However, whether it was thoughts or consciousness, it was all tied to the soul on some level.

"Come on, let me see your filthy heart..."

Aaron snapped his fingers. Zola felt his consciousness being pulled out by an irresistible force.

"Oh? I didn't expect your heart to be so black!" Aaron said.

"Master, I think you'll like this person," Dalamandis said from the side.

"Tell me, what is HYDRA looking for, and why did you come to steal from me?" Aaron's eyes glowed with a faint blue light. This light was something no one, not even a soul, could resist.

"The Book of the Red Skull! The book records eight great artifacts that descended from the sky. We can use these artifacts to punish you, the devil!"
