Candela kept her eyes fixed on Vasily. Unlike the others there, he showed no signs of fatigue, while Beatriz struggled even to breathe. He strode fiercely through the environment, and the only one who could keep up with him was Killbit.
The newborn felt his power grow stronger with each step, his eyes vibrating like never before. He knew that if he spoke to himself, he could talk to Bernard, but he didn't want to. His focus was on Vasily, the loner. Killbit was still enchanted by the Homunculus's words.
His view of his first encounter with Candela was quite different from Vasily's with Sophie. He felt that their natures made them have a different view of the world. As a hunter, the first time he saw Candela, he saw her as a minor annoyance, a powerful being who could take away his favorite meat buyer.
As a researcher created to keep the cluster of scientists' intellects and knowledge alive, Vasily looked at Sophie and saw an equal, stuck in the middle of large, noisy machines that muffled the sound of his own heart beating. Only with time did Candela and Killbit get closer.
Killbit noticed Vasily staring at him, then hiding his eyes. The scarlet red of Killbit's eyes met the glowing black orbs of Vasily. With a nod, Vasily understood and smiled, opening his overcoat.
The young man sat on the floor. Vasily took his pistol out of its holster and placed it against Killbit's forehead. The metal, instead of being cold, emanated a pleasant warmth that soon increased with the shot. As Vasily recited a spell, the bullet became a form of energy that passed through Killbit's entire body.
"What an incredible composition; your body is very similar to a human's, along with some chemical characteristics similar to those of the beasts." He reloaded his pistol. "The sound of the trigger is a symphony to me. I'll need a few more bullets to discover you completely; it's going to start hurting."
He held the pistol, keeping it firm against his forehead. "That's okay; I've had limbs torn off. Bullets are a piece of cake. I wanted to ask you something." He arched his lips. "But aren't homunculi immune to magic created by humans?"
"You are correct, but this falls under another spectrum of magic. The source of power is not the circles, but the energy operating in the environment." The pistol emanated a blue light. "I use it to channel the environment's energy. Its name is Lagrange. It's made from the trumpet that Sophie always played in our loneliness."
He smiled. "Wow, you can even turn a trumpet into a weapon, that's terrifying." He managed to make Vasily laugh. "So you can laugh; I thought your focus wouldn't allow that to happen."
"How could I not laugh at such a unique specimen? Now get ready; it's going to hurt for real!" Killbit closed his eyes tightly. "I'm kidding. I do this because with each shot, I remember the notes that came from the trumpet and Sophie's beautiful voice."
He sighed in relief. "You're very dedicated. I think that's the difference between a genius and other people. I see that you have your own personality; I say this because I'm with one without a memory and the other is a troublemaker." He looked at Candela. "I'll be happy to be studied by you; your will is greater. Gluttons are nothing compared to you."
Even though both had very distinct appearances—scarlet red eyes demonstrating the nature of a hunter in front of black eyes hidden under a hat, demonstrating calmness; black skin like the night in front of white skin like a veil—they maintained a mutual smile.
Vasily closed his eyes, his shiny pistol with golden carvings began to glow intensely, a silent shot was fired, and then a great explosion began. The environment became similar to a large aquarium; the blue took over everything, and waves appeared in front of everyone.
Vasily explained to Killbit that what he was seeing was the world hidden from everyone's eyes. That blue was the mysterious energy that permeates the entire tower, which he calls Flamel's lines. This name was given in honor of a great alchemist who managed to create the philosopher's stone. For Vasily, the tower and Leviathan were the step after the creation of the philosopher's stone.
In that space, due to the flow of this energy, magic could be created, giving nothing in return and not needing a deep knowledge of it. It was just a matter of using it. It was used uniquely by the homunculi, giving rise to their powers, which Vasily named Tempus fulgut.
In contrast, beings like Sophie and Candela emanated a more raw form of this energy, demonstrated in the form of light. So what would be their connection to this energy? What did all this mean? It was something he wondered. Vasily quickly looked at Beatriz and refocused on Killbit.
Hearing this information, Candela fell into a trance of confusion again, wondering why she was there, and she became more and more certain that Bernard was hiding something very important.
"So if Candela emanates this energy, wouldn't it be a good idea to study it too? Go ahead and take your clothes off, Candela." Beatriz's eyes turned green. "I want to see your muscles up close!"
Killbit placed himself between Beatriz and Candela. "Calm down, Candela, don't do that... Candela? Did something happen to you?" She shook her head in denial. "So, okay, speaking of which, aren't you going to study Beatriz?"
"I don't need to. Bernard gave me the files for Beatriz's creation project; he stole them from the Beasts' Colosseum a few years ago. I already know almost everything about her, but I still have a few questions." He leaned against the wall. "Certain experiments only yield results after years of research and testing. Beatriz is out of the question."
He approached Vasily, his eyes returning to their purple color. "I'll take that as a high compliment. I'm glad I'm so unique that no amount of research can categorize me and place me so lowly."
"She answered you so calmly. I think you two will get along very well. I'm happy about that." He stepped forward. "Let's go. Vasily has me eager to learn more about the tower and Leviathan."
He snapped out of his trance. "We have very important information thanks to Vasily that we must use wisely. Let's go quickly! I feel Ascaris will give us many answers."
Vasily no longer felt alone.
The scarlet eyes shone so intensely.
Beatriz felt a pain in her chest.
A great sound echoed throughout Leviathan.
Beasts emerged, letting out a single Howl.
It wasn't Bernard, but Vergil.
