Chapter 31 - Yummy Wolves

Lilith swallowed the Soul Core, and an immense amount of energy entered her body. It was quickly refined by her constitution and traveled through her pathways to heal her.

She sat on her butt, her back leaning on the corpse. A deep sigh was released from her mouth when the healing effect began showing.

She was utterly exhausted, and she lifted her hands to look at them. They were blackened, numb, and almost dead from the frost. They trembled a little, then her dead skin began peeling off, revealing a much clearer pale one.

Like that, her bad condition turned for the better, but she still had some time for the aftereffects of [Output Overload] to recede.

Lilith remembered the last time that she ate a Soul Core, and she concentrated inside her being and willed the access energy to be expelled by her body or be used for healing—she didn't have a Calming Core after all, it would only cause her pain.

"Oh my, you've already forgotten about your brother. How ungrateful..."

Lilith looked up, and she saw Noah sitting casually on the corpse of one of the Rank 2, wearing his irritating smile. She wondered what was the retard talking about, then suddenly remembered something.

With a single thought, she dismissed her spear that was stuck in the block of ice, and a torrent of navy blue sparks reached her and entered her body.

"Here, happy?"

She asked him, sarcasm evident in her voice.

"Well, I sure am happy that my suicidal sister didn't turn into an ice cube." He scoffed, reprimanding her a little.

Lilith shrugged her shoulders.

"I had full control of the battle, well, except for the last segment..."

She was always able to retreat if the situation proved to be unfavorable for her, but the last attack by the wolf leader made it far from easy. If she hadn't cornered it, it wouldn't have gone into such extremes.

But nevertheless, she had her hidden cards.

Noah shook his head helplessly, but there were important things they had to discuss.

"How many times can you use [Eye of the Storm] and [Soul Flash] simultaneously?"

Under normal circumstances, she can't use both spells due to her limited energy output. However, [Output Overload] allowed her to.

When she got hit by the energy beam, Lilith had used both spells to trick the wolf. Her presence was almost impossible to sense, and she used her agility spell to sneak near the wolf unseen.

Lilith thought for a bit, then sighed.

"I guess I can only use it about three times in my peak condition before I reach my limit on [Output Overload]..."

A powerful and complex attack like that demanded a lot from her.

However, it was still impressive considering her current level and her status as a newborn Calamity.

The wolf pack wasn't weak. Their combined last attack was enough to threaten the life of a Late Stage Rank 2 and to injure a Peak Stage Rank 2.

And Lilith still ended up as the one on top.

Due to her condition, she was effectively equal to an Early Stage Category 1 or a Peak Stage Category 0.

She had jumped many Stages and Ranks to earn her win.

Noah contemplated her answer for a moment, then asked an important question:

"Have you decided which Innate Spell you are going to create? Or do you want to wait until you get a Calamity Core?"

Lilith frowned at his words, her mind deep in thought.

Innate Spells were spells that could be integrated into the soul of the Heavenly Ascender and be used all the time without any drawback on their reserves or output.

Only one such spell was possible to integrate for each Rank or Category.

And Lilith could create one as well.

But, usually, Heavenly Ascenders wait until they are closer to ascending to a higher Rank, choosing to be cautious since only one spell in each Rank is allowed. It would be a big loss if they chose a bad spell.

Lilith initially wanted to wait and search for more options, but her fight with the wolf pack made her change her decision.

She looked deeply at her brother, meeting his red eyes seriously.

"I'm going to modify [Eye of the Storm] and make it my first Innate Spell."

The combination of [Soul Flash] and [Eye of the Storm] was truly lethal. Theoretically, she could've ended the fight in a dozen or so seconds in the beginning if she had gone all out.

She was confident that a powerful stealth spell was the best to use as her first Innate Spell.

Most importantly, she could easily reach her enemies and touch their souls, ending the fight in an instant.

Noah, as well, didn't disagree with her.

"Well, it isn't a bad choice. Furthermore, you need as much power as you can get."

Waiting till she had her Calamity Core wasn't caution, but just foolishness.

So, she was going to create her first Innate Spell as soon as possible.

But before that...

"Anyways, that's for later. I'm hungry."

Lilith stood up, her exhaustion had lessened, and she was in a much better shape.

Licking her lips and feeling her mouth water, she split the tough abdomen of the alpha wolf and started filling her mouth with its warm flesh and blood. She greedily devoured the meat, blushing a little in satisfaction.

"Mnm! Tgus wof tase good!"

She exclaimed incoherently, it had a far better taste than the eagle.

Noah watched her with a deadpan expression from the back, feeling lost at her utter lack of decorum.

After ten minutes of her ravenous rampage, she lay on her back with a satisfied smile. A huge hole was left on the side of the wolf instead of its meat.

Despite her apparent carelessness, Lilith had cast both [Eye of the Storm] and [The Primordial Sense] to stay hidden and hide herself from any danger.

After a few moments of watching Lilith feeling herself, Noah said:

"It shouldn't be hard for you to convert the spell into an Innate Spell, you're great at spell making after all..."

He paused for a moment, then continued:

"Lily, back on Earth, there were people who had special talents and abilities like you. Do you know what we called them?"

She turned her head and eyed him curiously, oblivious to his ploy.

"Hmm? What do you call them?"

Noah's smile turned a shade more mischievous, but she unfortunately didn't catch it.

"We call them autistic."

Lilith blinked a couple of times, then smiled widely.

"Heh, I guess that makes me autistic as fuck..."
