The Moon God Shuttle came to a halt on the surface of the sea. The crystal shield enclosing the cabin opened, and Zhu Ziyang, Zhang Lexuan, and Er Shuang shot out from the vessel, hovering in the air.
Zhu Ziyang bore twin wings and held a white spear in hand, his gaze sharp as he stared at the enormous creatures surrounding them. Their appearances were now clearly reflected in his eyes.
These massive beasts, each over a hundred meters long, were whales. Every one of them was colossal, covered in dragon scales the size of half Zhu Ziyang's body. Atop their heads sat a pair of dragon horns, and long whiskers trailed from their mouths. They looked like oversized catfish, though much more aesthetically pleasing. Their eyes were distinctively dragon-like vertical pupils, and instead of normal whale tails, they bore furry dragon tails.
Their bodies gleamed with a bluish-purple sheen, making them less conspicuous in the dark sea. However, their golden dragon horns gleamed strikingly against the ocean's dusky backdrop.
"What kind of soul beasts are these?" Zhang Lexuan stuck close to Zhu Ziyang, her face filled with confusion as she asked.
"I'm not sure, but one thing's certain — they all carry dragon bloodlines!" Zhu Ziyang replied. His soul power silently transformed into the extreme of ice. Another pair of dragon wings appeared on his back, unleashing the pressure unique to a Dragon King.
As the Dragon King's aura emanated, the dragon whales immediately became restless, letting out uneasy cries. This reaction pleased Zhu Ziyang greatly — to think that just the pressure from his dragon wings could disturb these ten-thousand-year soul beasts. If he fully unleashed his draconic might, would they retreat?
Before he could test that theory, a much louder dragon's roar surged up from the ocean's depths, piercing the air and reaching Zhu Ziyang and Zhang Lexuan's ears. Both were stunned, then exchanged wry smiles. They were thinking the same thing — the real master had arrived!
Sure enough, following the dragon's roar, a creature even larger than all the dragon whales combined burst from the sea. Its thousand-meter-long body raised waves hundreds of meters high, then flipped midair and landed smoothly atop the ocean's surface, without even a ripple. Such terrifying water control made both Zhu Ziyang and Zhang Lexuan's hearts sink — they knew a tough battle was coming.
This thousand-meter-long behemoth could only be the Dragon King Heavenly Thunder Roaring Tiger had spoken of. It certainly lived up to the title — a dragon head and fish body, sleek form, scales of purple and gold, dorsal fins along its back — compared to the unknown dragon whales, its dragon bloodline was undoubtedly purer and more potent.
"You bear the bloodline of the Dragon King. Who are you?" The Dragon King locked eyes with Zhu Ziyang and asked — in a majestic female voice, no less.
"I am the current Ice Dragon King. And who are you?" Zhu Ziyang answered. At the same time, he released his Martial Soul True Body, transforming into a massive dragon radiating regal aura. His golden eyes shone with aloof dominance as he spoke.
"Ice Dragon King!" The Dragon King was clearly intimidated by Zhu Ziyang's aura and form. She instinctively lowered her head before replying, "I am the Azure Dragon Whale King, the Purple-Gold Chiwen — the Dijiu Ling."
Chiwen — the ninth son of the Dragon God — was said to be born of the Dragon God and a primordial blue whale. The dragon whale race's origin. Zhu Ziyang hadn't expected to encounter a living Chiwen here in the waters around Four Symbols Island. Judging by her appearance, she had likely evolved from an Azure Dragon Whale.
"Chiwen? Dijiu Ling?" Er Shuang grew excited upon hearing the name. She immediately revealed her true form — a massive dragon almost identical to Zhu Ziyang's, radiating the same Dragon King aura and extreme ice attribute. The confused Purple-Gold Chiwen instinctively retreated.
"You... you two?" she looked back and forth between Zhu Ziyang and Er Shuang in disbelief and confusion. Zhu Ziyang's Dragon King aura had already made her wary, causing her to ignore his actual strength and bow respectfully. But now that Er Shuang appeared and exhibited the same aura — with power equal to her own — fear began to take root in Chiwen's heart.
Though, as a Chiwen, she could resist some of the Dragon King's pressure, that only applied if there was just one Dragon King, and one not much stronger than her. In this era where the original Dragon Kings had all perished, the fact that she, a 600,000-year-old Chiwen, had suddenly encountered two Dragon King successors — one of whom was on par with her — felt like outright bullying.
"You and your kin stopped us. What's your intention?" Zhu Ziyang demanded, projecting the might of a Dragon King.
"I meant no offense, and neither did my clan," Dijiu Ling quickly replied. "We thought you and your companions were from Four Symbols Island. Now that the misunderstanding is cleared, we'll take our leave and won't delay your journey."
As soon as she spoke, she slapped her tail against the water. The dozen Azure Dragon Whales immediately dove into the depths. Dijiu Ling turned to leave as well. She wisely chose not to clash with Zhu Ziyang and his group. Originally, her blockade of Four Symbols Island had been a show of power against the four Beast Kings there. Seeing Zhu Ziyang's group wasn't from the island, there was no need to interfere.
She was flexible and pragmatic — a fine trait of hers — but Zhu Ziyang wasn't planning to let her go just yet.
"Wait!" Zhu Ziyang called out. "I have something I want to ask you."
"Huh?" Dijiu Ling felt a bit slighted. She'd already backed off — what more did this seemingly weak Ice Dragon King want? She decided to at least hear him out before reacting. "Ask away."
"Have you ever heard of the Eastern Continent? Or do you know where the nearest continent to these waters is?" Zhu Ziyang asked. Zhang Lexuan immediately understood his intention in calling the Chiwen back and let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Dijiu Ling, too, relaxed upon hearing his question. Oh — so he was just asking for directions. She thought for a moment before replying, "I do know of one continent, but whether it's the one you mean, I can't be sure."
"That's fine, just tell me what you know." Zhu Ziyang's eyes lit up. He hadn't expected an actual lead from such a casual inquiry.
"Roughly a thousand years ago, I encountered a Darkscale Swordfish King from the east. It was about 300,000 years in cultivation and claimed to have swum from coastal waters near a continent located northeast of Four Symbols Island. That might be the Eastern Continent you're referring to," said Dijiu Ling, reminiscing.
"Northeast? What about the distance?" Zhu Ziyang asked quickly.
"I don't know. I only heard it mentioned. That swordfish king tried to take my territory, so I killed it. I have no idea how long it swam to get here," Dijiu Ling replied, a hint of regret in her voice.
"I see… what a pity," Zhu Ziyang sighed. "Any other clues?"
"None," she answered crisply.
"Well then, thank you," Zhu Ziyang nodded. "You may go."
Dijiu Ling didn't hesitate — she dove beneath the sea and vanished. Zhu Ziyang retracted his Martial Soul True Body and returned to the Moon God Shuttle with Zhang Lexuan to discuss the new information.
"Brother, you were so cool just now. That Chiwen was completely awed by you!" Jiang Nannan looked at Zhu Ziyang with eyes full of admiration. The conversation with Dijiu Ling had been broadcast throughout the vessel, which is why she said so.
"That Chiwen mentioned that you and Shuang'er are Ice Dragon Kings. Why?" Qian Lingyi asked.
"Hehe, I'll explain later. Right now, let's talk about whether we should head toward that potential continent in the northeast," Zhu Ziyang smiled. "I think we should go — we don't have a clear goal at the moment, so it's worth a shot."
"I agree," Zhang Lexuan said. "We have plenty of supplies, so we don't need to worry about the journey."
"Then let's go!" Jiang Nannan and Qian Lingyi both voiced their approval.
The Moon God Shuttle adjusted its course on the sea and, like a bolt of lightning, shot off toward the unknown horizon!
