Yan Shaozhe took the battle record sheet and began reviewing it carefully.
After a moment, he asked, "Wei Lun, this Zhu Ziyang — he's the only Soul Elder among this year's new students, correct?"
Du Weilun stepped forward upon hearing the question, glanced at the record, and answered, "Yes, that's correct. He's from Anyang City in the Heaven Soul Empire. During the entrance exam, his soul power had already reached level 35."
"Eleven years old, and already at level 35? What a rare talent!" A flicker of amazement appeared in Yan Shaozhe's eyes.
The other teachers present couldn't help showing envy. Zhu Ziyang was certainly lucky — as of today, he had officially entered the sights of Shrek Academy's high-level faculty.
Ignoring their reactions, Yan Shaozhe showed a touch of confusion. "Martial soul: Stillness Fate Ending Scythe? What kind of martial soul is that?"
"Based on our investigation, it appears to be a mutated martial soul," Du Weilun explained after organizing his thoughts. "His father is a Soul Elder with a martial soul called Duskglow Scythe — a rather ordinary tool-type martial soul. His mother is also a Soul Elder, possessing a standard beast-type martial soul. Considering Zhu Ziyang awakened with innate full soul power, his martial soul should be a positive mutation — at least a high-grade martial soul."
"A mutated martial soul?" Yan Shaozhe's tone shifted slightly. "Do we know what its attributes are?"
"Our intelligence indicates that the Stillness Fate Ending Scythe is a light-attribute martial soul," Du Weilun replied, glancing toward Xia Yu.
"Light attribute?" Yan Shaozhe was slightly stunned before realization flickered through his eyes.
'Could it be that Teacher asked me to come to the outer court specifically for this student?'
An eleven-year-old Soul Elder with a light-attribute mutated martial soul… with this level of talent, not to mention becoming his disciple — even if he were to take the old teacher as his master, it would be more than justified. 'It seems Teacher really doesn't intend to take in any more disciples. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent me to observe Zhu Ziyang personally.' Yan Shaozhe thought silently.
"Dean Yan," Liu Xue suddenly spoke up. "I believe Zhu Ziyang's martial soul is a top-grade tool-type martial soul."
"Oh? Why do you say that?" Yan Shaozhe asked with a gentle tone, noticing Liu Xue's excitement.
"Because when he released his martial soul, mine felt a faint pressure," Liu Xue said seriously.
"Teacher Liu Xue's martial soul is the Autumn Water Sword," Du Weilun helpfully added.
"I see." Understanding dawned on Yan Shaozhe's face. "For a high-grade tool-type martial soul to feel pressure, there's no doubt that this is a top-tier tool martial soul."
His interest grew even stronger. In his heart, he decided that once the freshman assessment ended, he would take Zhu Ziyang as his disciple. And if the boy could win the championship — even better.
Top-grade tool martial soul. Light attribute. And at only eleven years old, already with level 35 soul power. This level of talent surpassed even Xiao Tao!
"This student, Jiang Nannan, seems quite talented as well. And this Tang Ya — if I'm not mistaken, she's from the Tang Sect?" Yan Shaozhe continued, noting their names on the list.
"Yes," Du Weilun nodded. As the head of the Martial Soul Department, he had already memorized all the students with outstanding talent. "Jiang Nannan, like Zhu Ziyang, is from Anyang City in the Heaven Soul Empire. The two of them appear to be childhood friends. Her soul power at registration was level 25. Her martial soul is a mutated Soft Bone Rabbit that awakened with the Bloodline of the Moon."
"A mutated Soft Bone Rabbit with the Moon Bloodline?!" Yan Shaozhe was clearly surprised. "I've never heard of that before. Childhood friend of Zhu Ziyang, eh? Sounds like Anyang City is quite the treasure trove."
Du Weilun remained silent but continued with Tang Ya's information. His tone turned slightly emotional. "Tang Ya had soul power of level 19 at registration. She obtained her second soul ring two months ago and should now be at level 22. Her martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Interestingly enough, she's the current leader of the Tang Sect."
"I see!" Yan Shaozhe looked both astonished and melancholic. "To think the former number one sect on the continent has declined to this point… The founders of the Tang Sect once had a deep relationship with Shrek Academy, but now…" He trailed off, not finishing the thought.
After staying at the testing area for over ten minutes and feeling that his goal had been achieved, Yan Shaozhe left quietly. Du Weilun and several other teachers respectfully remained behind.
—
Zhu Ziyang had no idea he had caught the attention of both Mu En and Yan Shaozhe. At that moment, he, Jiang Nannan, and Tang Ya had arrived at the third test arena where Yu Beibei was located.
By coincidence, the matches had just concluded as they arrived, and they spotted Yu Beibei and his teammates walking out.
"Beibei!" Tang Ya called out.
"Xiao Ya?" Yu Beibei was briefly stunned to see the three of them. "Your match ended this quickly? Then again, considering Ziyang's strength, wrapping up the battle quickly is to be expected."
"Hehe!" Tang Ya grinned proudly. "We were the first arena to finish all matches today! And we won both rounds flawlessly! How about you guys?"
"Very impressive. We only had one match so far — we managed to scrape a win," Yu Beibei said, nodding with a smile to Zhu Ziyang and Jiang Nannan. "Ziyang, Nannan, congrats to you both."
"Congratulations to you too," Zhu Ziyang replied politely.
"Aren't you going to introduce us?" asked a sturdy young man with bold eyebrows and tiger eyes, stepping up with a grin as he threw his arm around Yu Beibei's shoulder.
"This is Xu Sanshi — my roommate and a member of our team," Yu Beibei introduced while lightly brushing his arm aside.
"Hi there, I'm Xu Sanshi," the boy said to Zhu Ziyang's group.
'Another one?' Zhu Ziyang thought. This Xu Sanshi was also a character from Peerless Tang Sect — although his name had only briefly appeared in some of the memories.
"So you're Yu Beibei's roommate? Why are you so dark?" Tang Ya asked out of pure curiosity, exposing her social boldness. Her bluntness caused Xu Sanshi to break character immediately.
"Uh…" Xu Sanshi was at a loss for words. He wanted to retort but didn't know how. All he could say was, "It's not dark — it's bronze!"
"Hahaha!" Zhu Ziyang and the others burst into laughter.
"This is Xue Weiwei," Yu Beibei continued, introducing a delicate-looking girl. Though not as striking as Jiang Nannan or Tang Ya, she was still a charming young beauty.
"Hello," Xue Weiwei said softly, her voice as gentle as her appearance.
"Hi, I'm Tang Ya, Beibei's teacher," Tang Ya said cheerfully. Then she pointed to the others. "This is Zhu Ziyang, and she's Jiang Nannan."
"I've heard so much about you! You're the only Soul Elder among the freshmen!" Xu Sanshi said, his eyes full of battle intent.
"So you're Zhu Ziyang? You're so handsome! I hope we don't end up facing you later," Xue Weiwei said softly after glancing briefly at Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan, her eyes twinkling as they lingered on Zhu Ziyang.
"I don't think we'll meet during the ranking rounds," Zhu Ziyang replied, unfazed by her gaze. He was quite confident in his looks. "But in the elimination rounds? That's a different story."
"Exactly! Beibei, don't expect us to go easy on you," Tang Ya teased with a bright smile.
