Du Shaofu saw the giant blue net flying toward him. Realizing that if he didn't react, he would surely be caught, he had no choice but to abandon his attack on Zhu Ziyang. Twisting his body sharply, he evaded Tang Ya's Blue Silver Net.
On the ground, Zhu Ziyang had already clashed with Lu Shaoyou. The Stillness Fate Ending Scythe collided with Lu Shaoyou's massive bear claws. The Earth Violent Bear was indeed worthy of its reputation for overwhelming strength among bear-type martial souls. Empowered by two soul skills, Lu Shaoyou was actually able to hold off Zhu Ziyang momentarily. Zhu Ziyang quickly pulled back the scythe, then immediately launched a second slash. Lu Shaoyou's bear claws met it head-on once more. The scythe and claws clashed again, and this time, Lu Shaoyou staggered back slightly.
Zhu Ziyang didn't let up. The Stillness Fate Ending Scythe swung out a third time. Lu Shaoyou once again chose to confront it head-on but was pushed back over a meter. His eyes widened in disbelief. His first soul skill could increase his strength by fifty percent, and Wang Shaowei's first soul skill added another ten percent. Even with that much enhancement, they couldn't withstand Zhu Ziyang's attacks. Was he really a Tool Soul Master? Lu Shaoyou couldn't make sense of it.
But there was no time to think.
Zhu Ziyang's fourth strike was already on its way. The scythe carried an unstoppable momentum. Lu Shaoyou instinctively realized he couldn't block it.
In a desperate move, he dove to the side, narrowly avoiding the fourth strike. The Stillness Fate Ending Scythe struck the ground, carving a three-meter-long gash in the floor.
"What the…" Lu Shaoyou's eyes bulged like copper bells.
Then, without warning, the scythe's shaft spun and slammed into him, sending him skimming along the ground for ten meters until Liu Xue caught him.
While Lu Shaoyou was being crushed by Zhu Ziyang, his two teammates weren't faring much better. Du Shaofu, as an agility-attack type soul master, was already disadvantaged against a control type like Tang Ya. With her vast array of hidden weapons, he couldn't defend himself properly and was quickly overwhelmed.
As for Wang Shaowei, a food system soul master—even though his second soul skill provided a speed boost, he was completely outmatched by Jiang Nannan. Once she closed the distance and grabbed him by the waist, he surrendered without hesitation.
"Match over. Class Four's Zhu Ziyang team wins!" Liu Xue declared after catching Lu Shaoyou and hearing the other two announce their surrender. Her face showed clear admiration.
"Not even ten minutes. That might be the fastest match so far!"
"Three minutes until the next match," she continued. "Freshman Class Five: Wang Hai, Luo Xiaoyi, Guan Tingting, versus Freshman Class Six: Tian Mufei, Yang Guang, Li Yushan. Please prepare."
The six students called out looked visibly tense. Meanwhile, the victorious trio of Zhu Ziyang, Tang Ya, and Jiang Nannan stepped down and went to rest in a corner.
It was clear this wouldn't be their only match of the afternoon.
Sure enough, they were called up again for the fourth match. This time their opponents were three one-ring Soul Masters. Zhu Ziyang's team took less than five minutes to secure an easy victory, claiming their second win.
By six in the evening, the twelfth testing arena had completed all nine scheduled matches. Zhu Ziyang's team led the group with a perfect 2–0 record.
"That's all for today. Everyone, report back to the testing field by six tomorrow morning," Liu Xue said with a cheerful smile before leaving.
Finally off duty.
Their arena was the first to finish all nine matches.
Zhu Ziyang's team was about to leave when Lu Shaoyou and his teammates approached.
"Zhu Ziyang, thank you for holding back," Lu Shaoyou said sincerely.
Their team had only fought one match and remained at zero points, but as one of only two all-Soul Grandmaster teams in the twelfth arena, they weren't worried about elimination. Their focus was on making it into the top sixty-four.
"No problem. It was just an assessment," Zhu Ziyang replied with a smile. He had indeed held back on the final hit—otherwise, Lu Shaoyou wouldn't have been sent flying so gently.
"Hope you guys take the championship!" the three of them said in admiration before taking their leave.
"Let's go," Zhu Ziyang said.
"Let's find Beibei. We might be able to scout their team's strength early," Tang Ya suggested.
"Is that really necessary?" Jiang Nannan asked confidently. "With big brother here, even if Beibei has the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul, he won't be a threat to us. Plus, he might not even be competing right now."
"It's definitely necessary! We know Beibei's strength, but not his teammates'. Knowing your enemy is key!" Tang Ya replied without hesitation. "They're in Arena Three. Let's go."
"Alright," Zhu Ziyang and Jiang Nannan agreed. Led by Tang Ya, they made their way to the third arena.
—
On the testing ground's main platform, Liu Xue, the proctor for Arena Twelve, walked over cheerfully.
"Where should I go tonight to relax?" she mused.
"Eh? Ah Xue, aren't you supposed to be proctoring? Why are you back so soon? Don't tell me you slacked off and didn't finish all nine matches?" Meng Fei, the Class Two homeroom teacher, spotted her and called out in surprise.
The other teachers looked over as well.
"Of course not! I finished all nine matches before coming here. I'm here to submit the results," Liu Xue said with a smile.
"All done? That fast?" the teachers asked, astonished.
Xia Yu looked thoughtful. "You were Arena Twelve's proctor, right?"
He remembered Zhu Ziyang's team was placed in that arena. He hadn't even considered the possibility that they might lose.
"That's right, Yu-ge," Liu Xue confirmed, handing the results to the gathered teachers. "Your student Zhu Ziyang's team is two wins and zero losses—and both matches ended very quickly."
"May I take a look?"
Before any of the teachers could reach for the report, a warm and gentle voice rang out behind them.
Everyone turned toward the voice.
Walking toward them was Du Weilun, the Head of the Martial Soul Department, respectfully trailing behind a white-robed elder.
That voice had come from the elder.
All the teachers straightened up instantly.
"Dean Yan!" they greeted in unison.
The white-robed elder was none other than Yan Shaozhe, current Dean of Shrek Academy, the 95th-level Super Douluo known as Bright Phoenix Douluo.
"No need to be so formal," Yan Shaozhe said with a kind smile, waving a hand at the group. Then he looked to Liu Xue.
"Teacher Liu Xue, may I take a look at your match report?"
"O-of course! Please!" Liu Xue stammered slightly, clearly excited, and handed over the report.
She had met Dean Yan many times, but his presence still made her nervous.
This was Dean Yan after all—a man whose very presence could shake the entire continent.
