Chapter 315 - Chapter 315: Rust Blade Legion

The Adeptus Mechanicus was truly dedicated to this Psyker Warmaster Titan. In just one month, a Titan Legion with fifty war engines was transferred to the Rostov Sub-Sector and deployed in the Kharkov campaign.

This arriving Legion did not have a resounding name; it was a new Legion established less than a thousand years ago, created by the Adeptus Mechanicus as a garrison Legion when they were establishing new Forge Worlds to open up the Imperial frontier.

This Titan Legion, known as Rust Blade, was a Class III Legion by Mars' military standards. The entire Legion possessed eighty war engines, and this deployment meant they had committed most of their assets.

In addition to a Warlord-Class Titan serving as the Legion's flagship, they also had three Warbringer-class and five Reaver-class Titans, all of which were brought this time. The rest were various models of Warlord-Class Titans.

It could be said that the Adeptus Mechanicus truly spared no expense in this matter.

Alex, in accordance with his agreement with Cawl, allowed them to withdraw the Psyker Warmaster Titan from the planet after the Titan Legion arrived in Kharkov and entered the battlefield.

The Adeptus Mechanicus was naturally overjoyed, and Cawl even personally transported it on his Forge Ark.

They had good reason to be so serious. Before the Rust Blade Legion arrived, the Necrons had launched several attacks over the past month. Alex had activated the Psyker Warmaster Titan three times to stabilize the front line, each time making the Tech-Priests' hearts pound.

Especially the last time, the Necrons also seemed intent on destroying this important Imperial war engine, so they deployed a Doomsday Monolith formation consisting of several Doomsday Monoliths, attempting to destroy the Psyker Warmaster Titan.

Not only that, but to restrict the psyker titan's psychic power, they specifically deployed four Blackstone Obelisks to seal and isolate the psyker titan's power.

This was also the most dangerous battle Alex had encountered while controlling the psyker titan. The power of the Blackstone Obelisks was indeed strong; the Psyker Warmaster Titan's power was suppressed, and powerful psychic spells could barely be cast.

The Necron units fighting the Psyker Warmaster had their shields specially reinforced. While gravity cannons were not ineffective, it was difficult to destroy them quickly.

And the power of the Doomsday Monolith was also very strong; even the War Master-Class Titan's seven layers of Void Shield were overloaded, and four of the twelve Void Shield generators were damaged during the engagement.

The Adeptus Mechanicus sages observing the battle nearly had heart attacks, almost calling for a fleet orbital bombardment to reclaim this precious divine machine.

However, Alex remained unhurried, simply activating the Psyker Annihilation Cannon installed on the Psyker Warmaster's left arm.

This was an ancient and powerful weapon from the Dark Age of Technology. Its operating principle was to draw power from the Psykers confined within the psyker titan, then focus and amplify it to tear open the veil of the real world, thereby creating a rift leading to the Warp.

Although the suppression from the Blackstone Obelisks prevented the Psyker Warmaster Titan from casting high-power psychic spells, it did not completely sever its connection to the Warp.

So when Alex activated this weapon, it only took a little longer to charge, and a little more power was drawn from the Psykers.

It eventually activated.

A terrifying Warp rift appeared directly in front of one of the Doomsday Monoliths, sucking it in within the blink of an eye.

Immediately, this rift continuously expanded, pulling in several other Doomsday Monoliths within a few hundred meters.

Several Blackstone Obelisks attempted to suppress and seal the Warp rift, but how could Alex let go of this valuable opportunity?

Because the Warp rift was torn open, Warp energy quickly became abundant again. So Alex directly condensed a powerful psychic force and pulled up several surrounding Blackstone Obelisks, throwing them into the Warp rift.

This wasn't some powerful combat psychic ability; any awakened Psyker whose psychic level wasn't too low to manifest it could perform this trick.

However, the weakest could only move small objects like cups or cigarettes, average ones could drag a leman russ, and only those as strong as Ma Xiangye could move planets.

But Alex didn't need to move planets; he just needed to throw these Blackstone Obelisks into the Warp rift.

With the power of the Psyker Warmaster Titan, this was an easy task.

Ultimately, the Necrons' ambush ended with all the Doomsday Monoliths and Blackstone Obelisks being thrown into the Warp rift.

After Alex controlled the Psyker Warmaster Titan back to their own lines, the Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priests almost rushed over as if their mothers had died, kowtowing to this divine Titan machine. Countless amounts of incense were burned; they almost used censers to fumigate the entire Titan.

The damaged Void Shield emitters were immediately dismantled for repair, with Cawl personally overseeing the work. Only those with at least a sage title in a relevant field could assist in the repairs.

Sages not in the relevant field could only stand by and watch, and those without a sage title were directly sent to kowtow.

With such an unsparing investment, the four Void Shields were quickly repaired and reinstalled in a grand ceremony.

And after repairing the Psyker Warmaster Titan's Void Shields, the Adeptus Mechanicus almost immediately rushed to Alex's office, banging on his desk and demanding that this precious divine machine no longer be sent to the battlefield.

For the Adeptus Mechanicus, Alex sending the Psyker Warmaster Titan to the battlefield was like using the Imperial Seal to crack walnuts—it was truly a waste of precious resources!

Of course, Alex couldn't agree to their demands. Anyway, for him, even if the Psyker Warmaster Titan was destroyed on the battlefield, it could be repaired. He truly didn't feel bad if it broke; he would only consider how long it would take for it to self-repair and what he would need to fill the combat power gap during its self-repair period.

After all, a unit worth several thousand points—its points alone would be enough for Alex to accumulate an Astartes Chapter.

As for whether an Astartes Chapter or a War Master-Class Titan is more effective, that is a matter of opinion.

In a direct confrontation, a fully equipped Astartes Chapter might not be less effective than a Titan, but when facing some particularly tough targets, a Titan is undoubtedly more useful than an Astartes Chapter.

What to use specifically is a great test for a Commander, requiring him to allocate resources reasonably according to different battlefield situations.

However, normally, Imperial Commanders do not have such happy troubles; they usually have neither this nor that, and can only fill the lines with Astra Militarum cannon fodder.
