Chapter 312 - Chapter 312: Adeptus Mechanicus Daily Life

After piloting the Psyker Warmaster back to the Imperial lines, Alex deactivated the fear field projected by the massive war machine.

In fact, it was only then that he realized this thing was useless against the Necrons and, instead, significantly impacted his own side.

After all, the Necrons were a soulless mechanical horde, completely unaffected by psychic fear, whereas his own allies were unable to cooperate with the Psyker Warmaster's assault due to the fear field's influence.

Otherwise, Alex could have saved one Lightning Storm and expanded the battle's gains with the accompaniment of allied forces.

However, the current situation wasn't problematic; having allies charge along would inevitably incur some casualties. Now, merely throwing one more Lightning Storm cleared out enemy forces within a fifty-kilometer radius, while only a few timid Astra Militarum soldiers wet their pants from fright, which was quite a good deal.

Moreover, after deactivating the fear field, Alex could clearly feel that the Astra Militarum grunts looked at the Psyker Warmaster as if it were a deity.

In fact, for these grunts, a War Master-Class Titan was indeed no different from a god.

This strategic superweapon, capable of single-handedly overturning an entire battlefield, was astonishingly powerful; its raw destructive might was enough for ordinary Astra Militarum soldiers to worship it as a god.

And in the doctrines of both the Ecclesiarchy and the Adeptus Mechanicus, a Titan was inherently an embodiment of divine power.

It was just that one believed it to be the Emperor's wrath, while the other believed it to be the power of the god of machines.

Alex had no direct experience with the former, but the latter…

After he brought this colossal divine machine to a halt, the red-robed Tech-Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus rushed to Alex's feet at an almost sprinting pace, kowtowing, chanting, and performing a mass before the still-moving steel behemoth.

Using the Psyker Warmaster's augur arrays and targeting arrays, Alex could clearly see that Cawl and the other Archmagos he knew were among those kneeling and kowtowing at the very front.

Facing a divine machine of this caliber, even lower-ranking Tech-Priests likely didn't have the qualifications to come and kowtow.

Just as Alex was wondering if he should switch his consciousness back to the Governor's body, the Psyker Warmaster's crew suddenly received a communication request from these Tech-Priests.

The Psyker Warmaster's crew was essentially just decoration and batteries; they didn't possess much autonomy, so this communication was effectively routed to Alex.

After a moment's hesitation, he connected the communication.

"Praise the god of machines! Praise the omnissiah! god of machines above, please allow this noble divine machine to move; there is no suitable place here to provide maintenance and blessings for the divine machine!" Cawl's excited voice came through the communication, his tone slightly respectful amidst the excitement.

Of course, this respect was not for the crew, but for the Psyker Warmaster Titan itself.

After all, this thing was truly rare, so rare that there was only this one unique example in the entire galaxy.

In response, Alex simply performed a system self-check, confirmed there were no issues, and then spoke: "The machine is intact, no maintenance needed. Blessings, here is fine."

He did not reply through the communication but directly used the Psyker Warmaster Titan's broadcast system.

Titans all had such a system, generally used for announcements or playing hymns, but using it to converse with others presented no other problems besides being loud.

This, in turn, nearly caused the red-robed figures on the ground to have their data-wafers overload with excitement, because they all heard that it was not the crew speaking, but the divine machine itself conversing with them!

"Praise the god of machines! Respected divine machine, are you speaking?" Cawl almost humbly sent the communication. The reason he didn't shout at the Psyker Warmaster Titan was primarily because Cawl felt it was too impolite to yell at the machine spirit of such an incredibly rare and noble divine machine.

Moreover, in Adeptus Mechanicus etiquette, simply transmitting information through air vibrations was a highly inefficient and backward practice; the Adeptus Mechanicus only did so when communicating with outsiders who did not understand binary language.

As for within the Adeptus Mechanicus? Everyone transmitted binary information; who would shout at the top of their lungs? That would be considered an impolite barbarian act.

Alex noticed this and replied in the communication channel: "It is I. I do not require maintenance."

This reply almost instantly caused Cawl's data-wafers to overheat, and his logical processing module nearly overloaded, while many lower-ranking Tech-Priests behind him actually fainted, smoke rising from their bodies.

"Cooked?" Alex intentionally asked in curiosity.

"No, they are just too excited! Great divine machine, you can actually communicate!" Cawl hastily explained, and sent a data packet to the Psyker Warmaster Titan, detailing how precious and noble a War Master-Class Titan was, how rare a machine spirit that could communicate so clearly and directly was, and… how truly uncommon a psyker titan was.

As if fearing that the machine spirit of the divine machine before him wouldn't understand, he also "briefly" attached a glossary of terms and an explanation of the Adeptus Mechanicus's reverence for divine machines, fearing to leave any bad impression on the Psyker Warmaster Titan's machine spirit.

Alex quickly read through it and couldn't help but smile.

He had to admit, these Tech-Priests were quite adorable at times.

However, this had no impact on him. He merely spoke through the Psyker Warmaster Titan's broadcast system: "Governor, blessed, I need to rest."

After speaking, he shut down the Titan's main reactor and reduced the secondary reactor's output to standby, putting the entire machine into a dormant state.

Alex's own consciousness had already switched back to the Governor's body.

Although Alex had switched characters, the Tech-Priests remaining on site dared not show any slack. Seeing that the divine machine intended to rest right there, the Tech-Priests immediately began to busy themselves.

Several Archmagos frantically shouted at the fleet in orbit and also called their forge ships, urging them to quickly transport resources down to construct a sheltered hangar for this incredibly precious, indeed unique, divine machine in the entire Imperium and galaxy.

Their level of importance for this was almost unimaginable; even Cawl and several Archmagos personally got involved, installing all sorts of equipment, both familiar and unfamiliar.

As for the divine machine being enclosed, while they were utterly respectful, they also activated all their detection and scanning equipment, seemingly intent on thoroughly examining this rare marvel.
