Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 – Lapis and Lazuli

"That's not your dad—that's Earth. Don't go around calling everyone 'dad,'" Ken said.

Broly: "…"

Broly gave up on trying to explain.

That's not what I meant.

I just don't know how to say it right…

Fwoosh!

The spaceship pierced through Earth's atmosphere, rapidly descending toward the planet's surface.

East City.

Western District.

As always, the people of the city were busy with their daily routines.

The bustling streets were full of people coming and going, life moving along like normal.

Two beautiful young women were sitting outside a café, casually sipping coffee and chatting.

"The weather's so nice today. Not a cloud in the sky!"

"What, trying to be a poet now?"

Just as they were joking around, a massive shadow suddenly loomed overhead, casting the entire block in gray.

The two women froze in shock and quickly looked up.

Suspended high above was a flat, disc-shaped spaceship, silently hovering in the sky.

Roughly 30 meters wide, it looked absolutely colossal from below—even though it was technically a "small-class" space vessel, it appeared massive in the middle of a city.

The two women stared, utterly dumbfounded, unable to speak.

"Is… is that a spaceship?" one of them stammered, her eyes wide with terror.

"Are… are those aliens?" the other muttered, spilling her coffee in her lap without even realizing it.

People all around started looking up in awe and panic.

Creak…

The spaceship's hatch opened.

Ken flew out of it, rising into the sky and hovering there like a god descending from the heavens.

Well—if gods were five-year-olds.

Because Ken was only five, he looked small and childlike. His tail swayed in the wind behind him, making the whole scene feel just a bit ridiculous.

Broly followed right behind, scratching his head as he floated up beside Ken. He stared down at the strange-looking humans and their weird buildings.

His face was full of confusion.

Where are we?

Why does everything look so weird?

And why do none of these people have tails?!

Down in the city, everyone was in stunned silence, their expressions grim and disbelieving.

A nearby six-year-old boy, oblivious to the tension, suddenly shouted, "Whoa, so cool! Are they aliens?!"

His sister stared up at Ken in awe too.

Their mom, however, looked terrified.

"Hey! Alien! Take me with you! I'm sick of doing homework!" the boy yelled at Ken.

"Hmph! You act like you have so much homework!" his sister snapped. "I do most of it for you anyway!"

"Take both of us with you!" the boy shouted.

Their mom quickly covered both kids' mouths and hugged them tight, pale with fear, as if the aliens were really going to snatch her children away.

Ken silently wiped his forehead.

Is this what kids are like in the Dragon Ball world?

These two didn't look more than six years old.

Do they really get that much homework?

Wait a second…

Why do these two look kinda familiar?

Ken narrowed his eyes, a thought forming.

"Hey kids, what are your names?" he asked, looking curiously at them.

"H-he… he talked!" the two women at the café trembled in fear, unable to move.

"I'm Lapis. My sister's Lazuli," the boy answered confidently.

Lapis? Lazuli?!

Ken blinked in surprise.

No wonder they looked familiar…

They were the future Android 17 and 18!

Now that he saw their faces clearly, the resemblance to their adult selves was undeniable.

"Do you get a lot of homework?" Ken asked.

"Hmph, I wouldn't, but I end up doing my brother's too!" Lazuli grumbled, clearly annoyed.

"Well, us aliens don't have homework. I'm about your age too—only five—and I'm already traveling through space. Isn't that cool?" Ken said with a grin.

Lapis and Lazuli immediately looked envious.

Only five years old and already touring other planets?

Aliens really do live the good life…

Meanwhile, they were stuck doing homework every day.

"Please take us with you! We want to travel too!" Lapis begged.

"Yeah, take me and my brother!" Lazuli pleaded, looking at Ken with big hopeful eyes.

"Um… Mr. Alien, sir… they're just joking! Please don't take it seriously!" their mom said, on the verge of tears.

"Can you fly?" Ken asked.

Both Lapis and Lazuli shook their heads.

"Then learn to fly first," Ken said with a smile.

The kids fell silent.

"Anyone know where West City is?" Ken asked, still floating high above.

"It's… over that way," one of the café girls nervously pointed.

"Hey lady, your pants are wet," Ken said, pointing at her.

"Ah!" The woman looked down and shrieked.

"Good luck, everyone," Ken waved and flew back into the spaceship.

Broly scratched his head and followed him in.

Fwoosh!

The spaceship shot back into the sky and vanished in an instant.

Everyone left behind stared in shock, looking up at the empty sky for a long time before snapping out of it.

Whap! Whap! Whap!

And then… came the beatings.

Lapis and Lazuli were promptly punished by their mom.

You're in first grade and already trying to drop out of school?!

And you're making your sister do your homework?!

The siblings bawled their eyes out.

"Waaaah! That alien's so mean!" Lapis sobbed.

"Hmph! Once I learn to fly, I won't let him off easy!" Lazuli pouted, wiping away tears…

West City – Capsule Corporation Headquarters

Ken's spaceship gently descended into the Capsule Corp courtyard.

A spaceship this size showing up at their home immediately drew the attention of Dr. Brief, Bulma's father.

He pedaled over on his bicycle, adjusted his glasses, and looked at the two figures stepping out of the spaceship—Ken and Broly.

"Well now… Are you two aliens?" Dr. Brief asked curiously.

"Hello, Doctor. I hear you're the most famous scientist on this planet, right?" Ken greeted him politely.

Broly stood behind him like a loyal shadow, curious about everything around him.
