Kross' expression did not change.
As if Ryan's words were nothing out of the ordinary.
"We'll stop for the night," he said flatly.
Ryan and Kross brought their horses to a halt. The rest of the group slowed down and stopped as well. Ryan told them that they would rest for the night and continue with the journey early in the morning the next day.
Lyra felt the carriage slow and finally come to a stop. Whatever Ryan had said or done, she was grateful they stopped. She stepped out of the carriage, the cool night air brushing against her face. Around her, the others were busy setting up camp, too preoccupied to notice her slip quietly away to take care of her needs.
Lyra felt the carriage slow down then it stopped. Whatever Ryan said or did, Lyra was grateful. She got out of the carriage. She looked around and everyone was minding their business. No one paid attention to her. She slipped and went and to do her business.
