The first thing that Lyra felt when she woke up was the rattling sound from the carriage and how it moved shakily.
She was in and out of consciousness several times while in the carriage, she didn't have the energy to wake up then.
When she woke up the carriage was moving.
Why was she in a carriage? She tried to sit, pulling herself up, she held her head, it was painful like there were strings pulling on it and her entire body was sore, like she had exercised or done a wholesome chores.
Probably, this was a dream. This must be a dream! She had never been to a carriage as grand as she was in. Yes her clothes were intact but just something was weird. The last time she remembered was being in the maids quarters being beaten by Rina and the other maids.
