Chapter 15 - Interrogation

The Alpha, Beta, and Gamma shared a mindlink, a bond so natural it kept them connected at all times.

Message passed freely between them unless the Alpha chose to shut them out, which he did so often, Kross never liked being disturbed because if Ryan was given the chance, he could be a real nuisance.

Normally, an Alpha's link to his warriors was unbreakable, strong enough to reach them no matter the distance but obviously not too far. But ever since the curse fell upon Kross, that strength had faded. What was once a powerful thread tying them together now flickered weak, leaving gaps where there should have been unity.

Even the mindlink between Kross, Ryan and Noah only worked if they were a bit nearer, it never worked when they were too far.

Ryan was likely at his quarters which was on the down floor... or, well, fine he was with one of the warriors after a steamy night.

Noah on the other hand was surveying the perimeter near the omega's building, keeping watch like a warrior on duty, especially after Lyra's situation, he had to keep an eye on the maids incase one was the accomplice.

The two men were far from where the Alpha was and the mindlink worked. They were shocked hearing the sound of Kross' voice in their head. They thought he was nearby. Ryan almost shit himself.

His voice was angry like something pissed him real bad and no one wanted to feel his wrath. Ryan scrambled to pick his clothes and wear them as he ran and Noah shifted to his grey wolf and to the Alpha's chamber.

However the situation they found wasn't what any of them expected. The girl was awake.

"What is happening?" Ryan tried to look a little but decent.

The look was quite comical if one forgot the blood dripping from Lyra's neck. Lyra was in between two gigantic men, he leg hanging on air, they hold her by her arm.

"Help me!" She cried out.

Because of no word from the Alpha objecting, Zane and Axel continued dragging Lyra to where they were commanded to take her to.

Noah stretched his hand blocking them, "Where are you taking her?"

"The dungeon."

Lyra didn't even know what she had done to deserve being locked up in a dungeon. If anything, it was that beast that was supposed to be there.

"I swear," Tears came out of her eyes, she was scared, her neck was in pain, "I told you everything!"

"Put her down, she's bleeding," Noah told the guys. The Alpha was mad but it was good to interrogate her first.

Kross didn't object. He moved to sit like a regal he was to the couch.

They tossed her carelessly to the ground, dropping her as if she weighed nothing, like a sack. Without an ounce of sympathy or even respect. Not like they cared.

Lyra fell on her butt and her arm grazed the floor. She gasped in pain.

She wondered what she had done to deserve that. She didn't dare to look up, she wasn't that courageous and faced with five bulky men, she couldn't.

"You must be worried about your grandfather," Noah started.

Lyra's heart skipped, What did he just say? What does my grandfather have to do with this?

She looked up, her eyes wide. and for a moment Ryan and Noah stilled. Her emerald eyes caught the faint light in the dim room, glowing softly as if they held their own fire. The shadows only deepened their color, leaving the two men quietly amazed, unable to look away. They schooled their expression after a few seconds.

"He is missing, You have to find him right?" Noah continued, "So why don't you tell us what is your motive?"

Lyra gulped, her eyes glassy with fear. "I– I don't… I don't have, m-motive! I… I was locked… in there!" Her voice shook.

They could see the fear evident on her face and voice.

"Who gave you the bruises on your face?"

"No one," she didn't know how to lie, she had to avoid talking too much thus she gave everything away. Either way if she gave out Rina's name, she reasoned nothing big would happen to Rina since she was the one in trouble.

Her life with the other maids would be a living hell.

Lyra didn't know they could all sense her lies. She wasn't a good liar.

"If you're going to lie, at least learn how to do it properly," Ryan sneered. All eyes turned to him. He shrugged, "What? She should know we know she's lying!"

Her hands twisted in front of her, knuckles white as she shook her head too quickly. "I–I… no, that's not..." The words broke apart before she could finish, fear choking her voice.

"If that's the case, we'll just go after your grandfather." Noah threatened, "In the mean time, the dungeon will suit you best."
