Chapter 50 - Chapter 50

"Even if Luca is not with us anymore, so what? You are still a part of us, because you were the most important part of Luca..." Dane smiled at me, all of them were smiling at me.

"Luca was the youngest amongst us, and so from now on you are going to become our youngest member, on the behalf of Luca."

" So from now on we are your other family, and we promise we will make sure that we try to protect you just like Luca did, and make sure you don't feel hurt by remembering Luca, so? Do you want to become our youngest sister?"

A smile covere my lips, a smile that brought tears with it.

I nodded with tears in my eyes.

And I don't know why...but that was the moment when I for the first time, after Luca's death felt his need the most, why? Because he would've been so happy for me...for us.

I looked at Xavier who was also smiling at me, and gave me a small nod.

After that, all of them stayed with me, to make me feel less lonely, and it did helped.

All three of them, Diana, Ravena and Lilly talked to me, gave me their numbers.

Xavier, Alex, Harris and Dane all four of them showed me the brotherly love, and support I think I did needed.

Talking, telling me things about Luca that I think I never knew.

His habit of hard working, passion for arts, his past that I was always curious about knowing.

Especially his childhood, a rough childhood.

He hid from me.

"He was a resilient kid, I was four years older than him and was his neighbour...since the day he was born I was living in the house opposite to his, after his parents were both murdered and his uncle shifted in that house with his family, I remember playing outside with his uncle's kids while he worked, I remember how torn his clothes used to be, while his cousins used to be wearing the most expensive clothing in the whole area."

Alex's teeth were gritted together, with his fist balled up against the hand rest of the couch.

"He suffered a lot in his childhood, he worked hard, and then made a life for himself...made his own name, created his worth... And in that whole process, he forgot himself until we all heard him talking about a girl... about you!"

Harris continued.

"The way he talked, he thought, everything changed and it was a matter of few days and he was changed completely...all because of you."

" At first we didn't understand why he was changing, for whom he was changing and then we got to know, it was all because of you...as much as we hated you for our past, we can't hate the person who made Luca laugh, made him genuinely happy."

Everything we talked about, everything we did it was all about Luca...his childhood...him growing up, his dream about being a doctor...how he worked part-time jobs despite being sick.

All we talked about was about Luca and soon everyone left, except for Xavier.

He was standing there, looking hopeless.

"Luca was really the happy, the day he asked you out, because after having dinner with you, he called me...for the first time ever he talked with me for more than 30 minutes, like an innocent kid."

He had a smile on his face, remembering the day as he talked about it.

" Well...I should be going too, take care Laurel and if you need anything...make cure to contact me, anything you need and I'll be there for you..."

He said before walking to the door before stopped and then turned around.

" And Laurel... Luca hated it when the person close to him harmed themselves...not because he thought the person who harmed himself was weak...but because he used to think that he failed to give enough comfort to that person that she couldn't share anything with him...so I'll be your that friend...and if not me...talk to someone else...or else...it won't be some drops the next time..."

Pointing to the couch, he went to the door, and walked out of the appartment, I rushed behind him and saw him standing with Kalix and Cassian.

Xavier shook hands with both of them and then left, Kalix amd Cassian both came in, as Kalix caressed my head looking down at me with tender eyes.

"How are you feeling?" He asked as he caressed my hair.

I shrug my shoulders.

"How can I feel? I thought I wanted to be alone but in actual I didn't...they all were here... talking about Luca, and I didn't even realise how fast time passed."

"That's good, after I came here, I went to Cecily's apartment...and then it had been more than an hour, so that's why I came here with him to check on you."

He smiled at me, caressing my head.

"I'll order something for you, then you should take rest after taking your medicines...okay?"

He patted my cheeks softly before walking in the kitchen, leaving me alone with Cassian.

"Cecily was worried for you, she wanted to come but Ayla has a fever so she couldn't... But she said that she will try to visit you as soon as Ayla's fever calm's down a bit."

Giving him a slight nod I turned towards the table and began picking up the things...

And strangely, I was wishing for Luca to be here, all because Cassian was here with me.

It wasn't that I felt uncomfortable with him, or he made me feel uncomfortable...but given the plot of the novel, I had been afraid of Cassian, and Luca...he had been extra over protective of me, whenever Cassian was around...he made sure that I wouldn't notice.

But I did, because he made it so obvious, standing in front of me whenever I felt Cassian was looking at me.

Holding my hand when another man was looking at me.

He did, and made it so casual that just in small amount of time it became a beautiful habit.

But now, it was a scary one.

Because Luca was nowhere to stand in the between me and the person looking at me, he wasn't here to keep his hand on my shoulder, show others that I'm taken by him.

Cassian noticed my tensed self as he stepped back, his lowered with a smile full of hurt.

"Don't do that!"

His voice broke.

"As if I will hurt you...as if... I'm a bad person for you...when I am not."

He backed away and left the apartment.

Kalix walked out of the kitchen when he heard the door open and then close, maybe he didn't hear what he had said to me.

"Where's Cassian?"

"He...left!" I stuttered and quickly walked to my bedroom with the bag.

Locking the door behind my back I kept the bag on the bed and sat on it with my back leaning against the headboard.

Taking out the journal, I opened it and inhaled a deep breath before I began reading it.

The first diary entry,

Today I found the person who murdered my mom and dad, and to my surprise, the family I never knew I had, my mother's biological brothers, they killed not just my mother but my father too.

Why? Because my mother had fell in love with my father and married him, while her marriage was already arranged in-between the other families of the Mafia.

That's it, a small dairy entry...

Mafia? Italian Mafia? Wait-

Cassian's... parents.

In the mid way of the novel was the time when Cassian had began searching for his parents murderers, the person who had assigned the person to kill them, and the reason why h was abandoned instead of being with them, dying with them.

And in the end the truth was unfold, and they were also murdered by... Italian mafia.

Why? Because his mother was engaged with the heir to the next mafiaso but she broke her engagement with him and fled some else where and later on married Cassian's father.

Cassian was still quite young when his parents gave him up in the orphanage and then he grew as an orphan.

To think if Cassian can have a different story line, and have his own family, then this?...

No! this might be just some... coincidence.

A mere coincidence.

While reading his other entries, I got to know more about him than I ever did when he was alive, despite small words, every sentence said and explained a story, it wasn't to pour out feelings like Laurel did, instead it was more like a formality.

Writing not because he wanted to but because he was told to do so.

Just an order by someone that he did like he was told.
