"Mr. Luca is awake! You can see him."
The team of doctors wthat was tith Luca at the time came out and gave us the good news as teats dripped from my eyes and stepped up.
"Can...can we see him?"
My question was overflowing with hopefulness, the only thing that I wanted right now was a favourable answer, the answer that I wanted, not the one they thought that was better.
And gratefully they had allowed us to meet him, but only one person was allowed, so I went in there, to meet him.
I was trembling with every action I did, as they made me wear those blue gowns and the green surgical cap, and gloves.
I was trembling when I walked towards the ICU, I was trembling when I saw him lying on the bed with various machines attached to him.
He was awake, his eyes were opened.
I walked to him as he looked at me, white bandage was wrapped around his head, with IV in his hand.
I took his hand in mine, plastering a soft peck on it, and within seconds my whole face was wet with tears, dampening the mask with them.
"Sorry...I'm sorry, you got hurt because of me!"
While wearing the oxygen mask, he smiled at me, as he tightened his hold on my hand, with the one I was holding.
And slowly removed the mask from his face.
"Who said you had hurt me? No one did, I just took the wounds they would have given to you, you didn't do anything to me, you saved me...you went there alone, because that man told you, that I was there...you got hurt because of me, and look we both are... perfectly fine!"
His voice was different, unusually gruff, and weird but he was doing everything to keep it normal, clearing his throat again and again, talking slowly.
But that couldn't bring his voice back to normal.
"D-don't talk too much, it's not good for you!"
He smiled at me, as he intertwined his fingers in mine.
"Little flame."
He said softly.
"What?"
"Nothing." He said smiling as he shook his head.
I smiled at him, my thumb caressing the back of his hand, bringing it closer to my lips, pecking it again and again.
"Did they arrest Franklin?"
"No, he ran away after shooting you!"
"Shooting me?" He looked confused,as I understood that he had no memory of it, due to concussion.
"Don't stress yourself out okay? It's not good for you, when you will get discharged I'll tell you everything."
He first kept looking at me with skepticism, before nodding his head.
I spent the next 30 minutes with him, with his hand in mine, making sire he wasn't feeling any pain.
After 30 minutes, the doctors have came back to take me from thete so Luca could rest.
And we bid farewell for the time being then and there.
When I came out lf the ICU, there were some more people, standing with Kalix, Xavier, Cassian and Cecily.
All of them had bouquets with them, as soon as I came out all of them were looking at me.
Kalix walked to me helping me take off the gloves I was wearing, the surgical cap, and then undid the knot of the surgical gown I was wearing.
Cecily also came to me, and helped me with it, since my left hand was injured and I couldn't work with it.
And at the very moment, a nurse walked to us and began talking to Xavier and Kalix about the rooms that were prepared for me and the other for the people who had came to meet Luca.
Kalix had taken me in the room and Cecily and Cassian had also came in there, while Xavier was out, looking after Luca.
What I had not notice was the bag in Cassian's hand, as he kept it on the tabke and took out a lunch box from it, handing it over to Kalix.
As he opened the lunch box, that was filled with chicken soup and began feeding it to me.
I was hungry already, and after confirming Luca's health with my own eyes, I had gotten quite relaxed,
Then he fed me some sandwiches before helping me lay down on the bed, and tucked me in.
"Now sleep, Luca is fine, and you have seen him with your own eyes, take rest, I will be here when you will wake up...hmm."
He assured me, and I had gotten more relaxed and began feeling sleepy and in less than 5 minutes I was asleep.
I was happy, I was relaxed...Luca was fine.
He was alive.
But what I had forgotten was the book, the plot, the fated end...and the prayer I had made.
Please, god, let me...let me die, just not him...let him live, any way, even if it means that I will have to be separated from him, love away from him.
The words I had said in helplessness, the words that I had said in spur of the moment, the words that I had used because I wanted Luca back.
I didn't know, I had no idea that those words were going to be the words that will make me regret everything that I had misspoken.
When I woke up, I was all alone in the whole room with no one by my side.
I frowned and looked up at the clock, 4 hours had passed since I had gone to sleep.
"Kalix?" I called out his name, hoping he would be somewhere, as he had told me that he would be, when putting me off to sleep, but hearing no response, my brows fell in confusion.
Something's not right.
I sat up straight on the bed, looking at every corner of the room, and there really was no one there.
I got out of the bed, walking to the door, there was a weird kind of obnoxious feeling that was creeping out inside me.
I went to the ICU ward, where Luca was, but there was no one there. Nor Kalix, nor Xavier...not even Luca himself.
The whole hospital staff was walking past by me, as if I wasn't even there, even when I called out to them, no one replied back to me.
Looked at me, but then chaged their course of sight.
"Excuse me? The patient-"
I got cut off by the doctor Infront of me who was apparently talking to the nurse with her.
"Why are you not listening to me?"
"Excuse me I'm talking to you!"
I said as I tried to shake the same doctor in front of me, but she didn't even move by my touch.
Infact my hand, it couldn't even grab her, like she was air...but in actual it was me...who had turned into thin air.
I swallowed a lump that had formed in my throat.
My eyes not ready to believe what I had just saw.
What the...hell?
This... can't be real, I'm still sleeping maybe! Yes,this must be it!
Right when I was about to walk back to my room, or force myself to wake up I felt a weird sensation inside my heart, goosebumps ran all over my body as I quickly turned around to the direction where I was sensing it from.
A nurse, her body language was quite weird, wary about her surroundings, as she she walked like a rat, with something in her hand that she was trying hard to hide.
Curiousity got the best of me, and I chose to follow her, I was brought to a patient's room following her.
I still couldn't see who the patient was, since a curtain was drawn over him, and I peeked inside.
I gasped, staring at the man who was lying in the bed.
It was Kalix?
The nurse without wasting a second stabbed the syringe in Kalix's arm and pushed the liquid in him, and quickly ran away from there.
"What the heck!"
I gasped as I sat up straight, I was in the hospital room.
All alone, there was no one other than me myself there.
My body was trembling with fear, after what I had just seen in my dream, and waking up in the room alone, I was feeling over cautious.
What if? Kalix is in danger.
Getting out of the bed, I didn't care of how I looked at the moment and rushed to the room, where I had followed the nurse in.
As soon as I opened the room, I was taken back looking at the amount of doctors there.
And the man, it wasn't Kalix, it wasn't someone I knew...just a stranger.
I backed away slightly, cursing myself for my overthinking.
That's when I heard a girl's muffled voice...as if being she was being forced to keep quiet.
I heard it more carefully.
Cecily!
