Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

I looked at her in confusion and then glared at Kalix after understanding the whole matter, and he just passed me a nervous smile, shrugging his shoulders.

"When I was pregnant with Ayla, I aslo used to throw up a lot because of the nausea, so Cassian used to give me ginger beer, it's not alcoholic, plus it's really good for git health too... there might be some stocked from last month when we came here to stay, I will bring it."

Cecily left the room, and Cassian stepped up, walking closer to my bed.

"You look so weak, are you okay now?"

His voice was very soft, and just when he was about to bring his hand closer to me, to touch me.

Luca grabbed his hand in a tight grip.

"What are you doing? Let go off me!"

Cassian roared, and yanked his hand oit of Luca's grip.

"Then stay away from my girlfriend!" Luca's voice had turned deadly, the low growl, and murderous eyes.

But something in Cassian's eyes shattered, right in front of me, within a few milliseconds.

It all broke, what happened, why it happened? I couldn't catch on it.

And he just looked at Kalix with that same broken expression, and my brother turned his face away, to the other side.

And he left the room, leaving me and Luca shook.

While both Cecily and Kalix were looking at each other, as if they had known, that what's wrong with Cassian, but I didn't bothered asking either.

I was too busy, looking after my own self, Reckoning over the memory of some minutes ago, hardly of over an hour.

Luca resumed feeding me food, while I was looking at Kalix and Cecily, who were whispering god knows what in each other's ears.

"Laurel, I'm keeping this here, make sure to take it, it will help with the nausea."

Cecily smiled, before leaving the room with Ayla.

"What were you both talking about?"

I asked as soon as Cecily had walked out.

Kalix shook his head at my question.

"Nothing much, we were just talking about Cassian, it's not that important...you focus on eating your food then you should leave, Luca please drop her at her apartment, It might get late for me to come, I'll wrap things up with Cassian here."

Kalix ordered Luca, and he nodded his head in affirmation.

And when we were all alone again in the room, he looked at me with questionable glance.

"Laurel, I don't know, but why do I feel like, it's something more than just that woman's picture all over the room in the house, your acts have gotten weirder every passing moment, forst those pictures, then that weird book and then that hooded man."

His words had me an choke hold, and I began coughing loudly.

Handing me the glass of water, I slowly sipped on it, calming myself down...

"Luca, I need to tell you something!"

I took a deep breath, gathering all the courage in my body, made up mind and said it out loud.

Maybe he was confused as to my sudden determination in my tone, or whatever it was...he did looked a bit, taken off guard?

"What happened?"

"Can we, go home right now? I can't tell you anything here!"

Luca agreed, and then packed up everything before we got ready to leave.

Kalix helped me sit in Luca's car, caressing my head lovingly.

"Take care, Laurel, and I'm really sorry, for that day."

He closed the door of my side, and then Luca started the engine driving back to my apartment.

The roses that he had bought for me, along with Cecily's, they were still kept in the car, the scent of the flowers was spread all in the car.

Luca's hand went to mine, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"What is the problem Laurel? I'm not liking you behaving like this one bit, I want my happy, shy, loving Laurel back..."

I smiled at his words keeping my other hand on his, and gave his hand a tight squeeze.

"I'm fine, just some things over my head, nothing much to be worrying about."

He had taken me to my apartment, while Holding my hand, helped me slowly, made me sit on the couch brought water for me.

"I'm not a patient Luca! I'm alright now."

"I know Fiammetta, and I'm not doing this because of your condition, I'll do this even if I am the one who is sick, I'll be doing this for my whole life just so can be happy."

Fiammetta?

"What does Fiammetta means?"

His lips curved into a smile, turning his neck to the ither side, trying to hide it."

"Nothing much, just a petname I thought suited you the most."

I scrunched my eyes, looking at him as inspecting him.

"It doesn't sound like one, a random pet name!"

His smilef turned a bit shy.

"Are you hiding it from me? Come on Luca tell me? Please...."

I requested, my eyes shining the hope, hoping that he would tell me.

"Little flame." Cassian mumbled.

"What?" I asked again, even though his voice was audible, I still wanted to make sure I had picked up on the correct meaning.

"Little flame!" He said a little louder than before, the words, the meaning all clear to me now.

And my cheeks began heating up at its literal meaning.

"It's an Italian nickname."

The tip of his ears was bright red.

"Italian? And how would you know an Italian nickname?"

"Because I am half Italian!"

He said like it was obvious, this time I was the one who was shocked. And I sat up straight.

"What!"

My eyes widened, straightening up.

"You? You are half Italian?"

Luca nodded, before letting out a chuckle.

"You didn't know? I thought it's a normal thing to know since you are Kalix's sister."

"Of course I would not know, me and my brother don't go talking about our friend's biographies with each other!"

I got frustrated.

He was still laughing.

"It's not that funny!" I narrowed my eyes.

"I know, but the red face of yours...it really suited you...It was so matched to your hair...!"

He was still laughing, I was getting more annoyed by his laughter, as much as it was making my heart flutter, it was making my mind more frustrated.

Taking his waist between my index finger and thumb, I pinched it with my whole strength.

"Ouch!" Luca jumped, with a groan.

Still laughing-

"Okay...sorry... I can't help it, you really looked cute, I'm sorry."

I huffed turning my face sideways, and stood up from my place to go in my room, when he pulled my hand, making me fall back on the couch, with my back, touching his side.

"I'm sorry, don't be angry, I just wanted to divert your mind off from whatever was bugging you, I didn't intended to make you angry on me."

His voice was quite soft, and filled with guilt.

"Okay...now tell me, what did you want to tell me? Do you even have any idea how worried I had been ever since you said that you wanted to talk?"

"I... first promise me, you...you won't react badly, or...worse won't trust me...listen to my whole explanation, and then please try to trust me, okay?"

Luca laughed nervously.

"Laurel, why are you behaving like that? You're scaring me!"

His body was tense, I bit my lips and tool both of his hands in mine.

"Take a deep breath, because... what I am about to tell you, might sound unbelievable but that's true...okay?"

The frown on his face deepened, but he didn't say a word.

"I... I'm not the...real Laurel, actually this world, it's...not even real, this...is a world...made from a...novel...in...my world..."

I looked at him, to see if he is even believing my words, but his face, it was serious, so it was difficult to determine what he was thinking.

"In the novel, Laurel Miller, that is me, is the Villainess who...who is in love with the male lead, but...he loves the female lead...but she manipulates him into marrying her with the help of her brother."

"Humiliates the female lead, tortures her and gets her kidnapped, because of which her husband...the...the male lead, he...kicks her out...and later divorces her...and soon she gets shot and dies...by the main lead, when she tries to kill the female lead...all while being pregnant."

His eyes were widened with shock, with hint of sadness, like he wasn't expecting it at all, anything but this.

"So...you...are saying that...we are not...real?"

Luca looked at me, shocked...in disbelief.

"For god sake, Laurel, if...this is a joke...just please say it...you are trying to prank me."

He looked at me with disbelief, hoping it to be a lie.
