And an unexpected giggle erupted from my lips because of which his eyes softened even more, tilting his head slightly towards his left shoulder, staring at me as if in that whole farm house, it was just me and him there.
I could feel my insides, my cheeks getting hot at his loving stare as I turned him around pushing him playfully towards his friends.
"Go!" I pushed him there and began striding towards Cecily...
I could hear him chuckling with that deep voice of his while walking back to his friends.
Forgetting the actual reason I had gone to Luca for.
Taking one look back I saw how all those men he was standing with, were now teasing him, and he kept taking glances at me.
As soon as I had walked to Cecily, Cassian and Kalix had also walked to her on the same time.
Elodie who had been there for this whole time, scooted closer to Cassian without even hiding it.
"What happened?" Cecily asked her brother, as he gave me a glance before taking to Cecily about starting the event now.
Kalix had been continuously looking at me, and that's when his eyes went down, landing on my hand.
Which I had not taken it seriously before he came close to me grabbing my hand, my left hand in which I was wearing Luca's ring.
"Why are you wearing this?" His demanding voice made me furious.
Who does he think he is?
"What do you mean by that? I wear what I want to wear!" I retorted, keeping my volume low, since we were siblings and in public.
"Do you–" He was about to shout when he saw that Cassian, Cecily and Elodie, all three of them were staring at us.
As he grabbed my hand and took me inside the farmhouse and then locked us in one room.
"Do you even have any idea what this ring symbolises?"
I stared at the ring, for the first time I had gotten quiet because I also didn't know what the ring meant or if it had any meaning to it.
"Luca gave it to you didn't he?"
He asked, this time the anger in his voice had lowered.
"What? I mean how do you know?"
I looked at the ring and then at him.
"It is the heirloom of the Black family, This is the ring wore by the future wives of all the heirs."
"So If you are wearing this ring, it means that you are now His fiance...are you even ready for this level of commitment?"
I was stunned at the news he broke at me, as I raised my hand slightly, looking at the shiny stones fitted in each corner and end of petals.
Then back at him.
"So? I don't care, at least he didn't humiliated me like you did in front of everyone... did you even for once allow me to explain? No you just accused me, hurt me and then left me all alone..."
"If you do care that much about me, then where were you this whole week, and please...for god sake don't talk about the night you had came...it was too late...you could have came the next day when everyone was scandalising me...you could have at least stepped up for me! So please, leave me alone! And don't you dare say a word to Luca!"
That was the last thing I said to him before I unlocked the door and excited the building.
My breath was elevated and eyes were filled with tears, composing myself, I stood next to Luca, who was looking here and there, through the whole venue.
He let out a sigh of relief when he saw me beside him.
"What happened? Where were, I got so worried."
"Nothing, I just went to use the restroom, my lipstick had came off."
I smiled at him, shrugging it off.
"The event is starting, let's go closer to the stage...there are all men here, it's not appropriate."
Wrapping his arm around my shoulder, we walked closer to the stage.
Cassian was on the stage, and Cecily with Ayla in her arms...he was talking about his sister and his neice.
When I became the centre of their words.
"And I would like to thank Ms. Laurel Miller, so much, because she also played a very big, and important part, in my niece's birth."
Now everyone's eyes were on me, I was flabbergasted, while Luca was standing pride besides me.
"The night my niece was born, there was no signals or help that could be found who could help my sister, but then, she stepped up, and assisted in my sister's delivery...and helped her give birth normally and because of her... I can be with my sister and admire her daughter...thank you so much Ms. Laurel Miller."
The whole venue was now echoing with claps, and now Cassian was talking about other things, and that's when I felt as if there was someone standing near the fence of the farmhouse that was also connected to the abandoned farmhouse next to it.
I turned around fully and the person was no longer there.
Walking there, I stood at the same place, that person was standing at.
How did he went in there?
I kept touching the fence when all of a sudden the wooden board of the fence slid away...
Bingo!
A big warm hand grabbed my shoulder just when I had taken a step inside the property of the abandoned farmhouse.
I turned my neck to see the person, who had stopped me.
"What are you doing!"
"Shhh! Don't make noise, I don't want anyone hearing a sound!" I scolded Luca for talking loudly, even though the noise of the party was pretty loud.
I stepped inside, as Luca followed me in there too.
"Why are we going in here?" He asked just as he entered fully.
"I saw someone coming here, why would anyone come in an abandoned farmhouse when the party is on the other side."
"It's abandoned? Woah that's something new to hear."
Shit-
Luca was still amused, as he opened tbe flash light of his phone, lightening the way for us.
I remained quiet and carefully walked inside the four walls of that decade old farmhouse, the whole property looked quite old, cobwebs, dust, and darkness everything had been surrounding the building.
We were trying to get inside when a rattling sound came from inside.
Halting over my steps, I signed Luca to do the same.
1 minute, 2 minute....
"Let's go!" I searched for an opening when my eyes went towards the broken window on the corner and I jumped inside through it.
Luca held me up by my waist making it easy to get inside.
The whole house was in the same condition like it had been from outside, wandering around the whole house there was nothing special to be seen.
Just dust and some locked rooms.
Until we came across a room, the door was opened a little, emitting light from there.
An orange light...
I gulped, taking slow and alarmed steps as I pushed the door open and walked inside.
I gasped, my breath frozen in my lungs as I stared at the view before me.
My body shivering while my eyes darted all over the wall.
Dr. Sarah Junes.
Written in a big font, pasted in middle of all the pictures.
My pictures.
Me at the hospital.
Me treating my patients.
At the shopping mall.
Every where I had been.
My memories of all those moments flashed in front of my sight as my eyes looked at those pictures.
And then there was, the last picture, it was me, bending down on a shelf, picking up a packet of bread, another one, me standing on the cash counter, paying for the cash.
"What the hell!" Luca's words were what that brought me back to reality.
"A stalker has been here..."
He went closer touching every single picture, and then there was biodata, my biodata.
When I became an orphan, in which orphanage I was living at, every institution where I had studied, the hospital I worked at.
Each and every thing was there.
Candles burning near every single picture , making all of them visible
I was trembling staring at my old self, Terror had filled me from head to toe, Oxygen was stuck inside of me, as if I had forgotten how to breathe.
I was still in shock, staring at the pictures and Luca who was reading and observing the pictures.
I walked closer to the wall where there was a picture of me in the convenience store, when my leg hit a box, maybe I had missed to see it here since, the candles were not enough to light up the floor.
I bent down on the floor when Luca also came to me flashing the light on the box.
