As Shiranami Hakusei walked through the alleys, he suddenly sensed shadows flitting around the corners of the street, quick, four-legged figures darting through the dark.
With a sweep of Observation Haki,
"Hm? Four-legged? Are these the Judiciary Hounds?"
Just as he guessed, those creeping figures tightening the net around them were indeed the law hound cavalry dispatched by the Chief Judge.
"You'll go no further." The lead rider snorted arrogantly, nostrils flared.
Receiving no response, he lowered his gaze toward Shiranami's group, only to instantly erupt in fury.
They weren't even looking at him. Shiranami and his crew just walked forward nonchalantly, as if the squad didn't even exist.
"You four intruders! Stop right there!" he bellowed.
Shiranami furrowed his brows slightly. "What's the matter?"
What's the matter?!
You're the damn intruders!
We're here to arrest you!
The whole hound squad nearly choked in disbelief. Was this brat for real?
"Brothers! Get them! Let's show this punk exactly what we're here for!"
"Yes, sir!"
With that, a wave of blades, chains, bloodletting discs, and Seastone nets rained down on the group.
"Leave the ones using Seastone to me and the Earl. You guys handle the rest," Shiranami ordered plainly. They moved instantly.
To be fair, the law hound cavalry was fast, fast enough to be a real threat to average pirates.
But Shiranami's crew? Each one was a speed demon. Even the slowest, Crocodile, still outran this so-called elite cavalry.
Sure enough,
Before long, cries of agony and canine howls echoed across the courtyard.
This time, the saying became literal: men screamed, dogs whimpered.
The law hounds, who were considered elite in others' eyes, couldn't even slow the group down.
Seeing the fearsome cavalry crushed so effortlessly, the stragglers hiding in alley corners trembled.
"Good thing I held back! I'd be dog food by now!"
"For real! We're not even in the New World yet, how can monsters like that exist here?!"
"Screw this, just play dead. Or we'll end up as pavement stains."
"Yeah, yeah, dead it is."
With no resistance left, the four moved forward unhindered and soon arrived at the courthouse. Shiranami looked up and said calmly, "The check-in point's up there?"
He headed for the stairs.
"Intruders! You think you can ignore me?!" The Chief Judge bellowed in rage as he leapt down with his massive blade.
"If you want to pass, you go through me first!"
Sensing how close the check-in point was, Shiranami didn't feel like wasting time on ants.
"Old Sand, he's yours. We're going up."
Crocodile gave a nod. He didn't love being ordered around, but he stepped forward anyway.
"Desert Spada!"
"Let's go," Shiranami said to the remaining two, continuing up the stairs.
Before long, they reached the rooftop. Shiranami looked across the deep chasm between outer and inner islands, frowning slightly.
"Ah, right. Forgot we need to lower the bridge. Should've had Old Sand tag along."
Just then, inside the main building, the CP9 agents spotted them.
"That bastard… he really followed us here," Lucci muttered grimly.
CP9's chief, Spandam, was still clueless. "Who?"
"They came to rescue Robin and Franky."
"Oh? Someone's got a death wish, huh? You guys just standing there for what? Go take care of it!"
Kaku rolled his eyes. You say it like it's easy. Why don't you go?
"Don't worry. We'll handle it," Lucci said with a steely gaze.
"Kaku, Kalifa, how's your mastery over your Devil Fruits?"
"We've got the hang of it."
"Good. Last time we held back to avoid compromising the mission. This time… we show them what true strength means."
"Yes!"
"Chief, take the prisoners to the Gates of Justice. Leave the rest to us."
Watching his subordinates' fighting spirit, Spandam stretched and walked over to Robin and Franky, delivering a few kicks and insults before dragging them to the window. He wanted to see who was bold enough to cause this mess.
Naturally, Shiranami, with his domineering Observation Haki, had long since located the CP9 agents.
But he didn't care.
He had already found the check-in point: right at the base of the World Government flagpole.
Without hesitation, he kicked off a massive chunk of wall and launched it across the air toward the opposing rooftop. Then, he and the others leapt onto it, riding the slab through the air.
The crash shook the whole island.
At that moment, the Straw Hats had arrived below. Through the gaping hole in the roof, they spotted the CP9 members.
"There they are! Let's go!" Luffy shouted.
The crew rushed up the stairs to the rooftop where Shiranami had stood moments earlier.
And there she was, Robin, chained and battered on the opposite tower.
Their eyes burned with rage.
Then came the scene everyone had been waiting for,
"Robin! I want to hear it from you! Say it! Say you want to live!"
Seeing her friends rushing to save her, Robin's tears flowed uncontrollably.
Her final wall of resistance crumbled.
Never before had she wanted to live this badly.
"If I… if I could choose again… I want to live! Luffy, take me to sea with you!"
"Hahahaha! Touching. But do you have any idea what's waiting for you?" Spandam jeered.
"I do now. Sniper King, shoot that flag."
"Roger!" Usopp said, pulling out his newest slingshot.
But before he could let it fly, someone else ruined the emotional climax.
A purple-haired youth casually strolled up beside the flagpole.
He didn't say much. Just raised his fist, and smashed the entire pole into the sky.
The World Government flag? Torn to shreds by the crackling thunder around his fist.
Who else could it be, if not Shiranami Hakusei?
Turns out, the check-in point was right there beneath the flag.
"What a damn nuisance," he muttered while dusting off his gloves.
"Check-in complete."
