Chapter 10 - I apologize for suspecting you

Thanks to my house mysteriously catching on fire again, I was freed from the charges and released, given back my wallet and bank book.

It's crazy how a house that had been frozen solid and completely drenched by the thawing ice suddenly caught fire again.

Even I have trouble believing it.

'Well, let's not think too much about it.' With my wallet in hand, I walked into the nearest clothing shop and bought something I could wear right away with the money in my wallet.

And after that, I went to the insurance company to get money from my fire insurance.

Even if there were suspicions before that I had something to do with the fire, those suspicions were cleared once the police reported that, even while I was in jail, the house, which had been frozen, suddenly caught on fire.

Quite a bizarre situation.

Anyway, the fire insurance agency told me I would probably get paid after a month or so. I jsut hope it doesn't delay too much cause they have such a habit even in a broken world like ours.

Anyway, I didnt waste time and began to look for a house with the funds I had in hand. But it wasn't exactly looking for since I already knew where I wanted the house.

There were a lot of vacant houses there, since it was an area close to a crack.

And most families would be scared out of their wits to live there with their kids so they would relocate.

And as such, it wasn't a very popular place to move into. That was why the house agent kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to move there.

They would've been thrilled if that was a normal area but it was an area with a crack. What if after a month, I get too scared and decide I don't want to stay there anymore?

They received such complaints from people who suddenly want to move there cause they think it's cool to be staying close to a crack and had faith that the Espers would protect them.

Life in such areas... Wasn't so normal.

"I'm sure," I said.

Even if it wasn't a popular place, there were still a lot of people living there, thus warranting the massive number of casualties.

"If I may ask," the agent began, perking up his glasses as he interrogated me. "What's the reason you want to move into such a dangerous residential area?" He asked, looking at me suspiciously and I smiled.

"Because it's cheap."

"Oh."

Due to it being a dangerous area, living expenses and lease were all cheaper compared to the normal market price.

A fully furnished house went for half the market price with full house insurance in case the monsters broke out and destroyed the house before the lease was completed.

Life there was easier, if you just brainwashed yourself to forget about the crack that was just around the corner.

"My house caught on fire last night, and I don't have that much money, but I need a house, so I can only go for the viable option." I said, "Please understand."

I flashed my commercial smile at him and he cleared his throat.

"Ahem, I understand. I apologize for suspecting you."

"No, it's fine. I understand you had good reasons for that so I don't mind."

Since my reason was viable enough, they decided to sell me a house.

I went there with the house agent to look around but I didn't really care which house I'd take. I wasn't planning to stay there for long, anyway.

It was only a matter of time until I moved in with Sung-min, hehe.

I got myself two more pairs of clothes and placed them in the empty wardrobe of my room.

The place was quite clean for a house that they didn't know when it would be taken.

But I still did a bit of cleaning. I had the entire day after all.

And after that, I went out to eat something. Breakfast was cancelled so I just had brunch at a nice little restaurant in the area. And while it did seem like a normal day, I was secretly planning my course of action.

How would I get Sung-min to come over to my house and then take him on a walk close to the crack at the exact moment the fire dragon was going to come out?

It all comes down to Sung-min. He needed to be there; if not, the entire plan would fall.

I sipped my latte while thinking of this as I waited for a little dessert, only for my eyes to catch the devil himself.

Ah, no, how do they say it again? Oh, yes. Speak of the devil.

He was standing outside the shop, just in front of the see-through glass walls. It didn't look like he had discovered me yet but he did look like he was looking for someone.

He looked at his watch and I watched him. That ambiance of his... How much I had missed it.

Oh, right.

I snapped out of my little daydream and decided to approach him. This was the only time I could get his attention and get him to come over to my house.

My phone was gone and I didn't have his number either. I couldn't waste this opportunity.

I rushed outside and just as I walked out of the cafe, he turned.

Our eyes met and I paused, words escaping my lips and sinking back into my throat.

Just looking at his face under the hot rays of the sun quickly made me recall a sunny day with him, in his arms.

Gosh, I was being a bit too melodramatic right now.

I rubbed my neck, took a deep breath, released it, and then walked towards him.

Activating shameless mood.

"Hey, there handsome." I flashed a smile at him. "Looking for me?"
