Chapter 29 - 29

It turned out that the villains at the beginning of any story were incredibly foolish, such as the current President of Gotham University and Commissioner Victor; if it weren't for Batman being a rookie now, if it were the Lord in his prime, he wouldn't even spare them a glance.

Fortunately, Maroni, a villain who appeared in the middle of the story, was quite effective; before Batman could even raid his hideout, the production line was already in operation, continuously producing large quantities of Fear Toxin.

Schiller didn't immediately target this batch of Fear Toxin, because once he succeeded, the other party would surely become more vigilant.

Although large quantities of Fear Toxin were produced, they were only temporarily stored in the warehouse, because Maroni also knew that this biological weapon had to be used in large quantities at once, preferably directly covering an entire street, to maximize its effect.

Unfortunately, his actions played right into Schiller's hands.

When the three warehouses of that small chemical factory were basically filled with Fear Toxin, Schiller directly activated the Gray Mist, flying into the warehouse in one go and consuming all the concentrated Fear Toxin liquid.

Schiller dared to do this because the Gray Mist told him that as a Symbiote, the Gray Mist could directly consume and store these Fear Toxins without worrying about running out of space.

But Schiller was skeptical, which was like a drunk telling you that storing alcohol with him would definitely not be a problem.

Fortunately, the Symbiote was relatively obedient; after it dispersed into Gray Mist, it almost instantly emptied all the Fear Toxin in the warehouse and didn't get "drunk."

The bottles containing the Fear Toxin remained unchanged; the Symbiote factor drilled into the molecular structure of the bottles, drinking all the Fear Toxin dry.

The next day, when Maroni came to inspect the warehouse, he was dumbfounded.

The boxes and bottles were neatly arranged, and there was no trace of anyone entering or leaving the warehouse, yet the Fear Toxin was simply gone.

Maroni knew the consequences if this biological weapon were discovered by certain people, so although the chemical factory was small, the security was very strict, especially the warehouse storing large quantities of Fear Toxin, which was almost airtight.

But he couldn't expect the security guards to be vigilant about a sudden mist floating by in the middle of the night; just like that, Maroni was completely ruined.

He had spent millions of U.S. dollars, countless manpower and resources, and owed favors to several people; the results obtained after a long time were just one step away from completion, but everything was stolen.

If this hadn't worked out from the beginning, it would have been one thing, but now he had invested manpower, poured in money, installed new equipment worth several million U.S. dollars, hired high-paid chemists, and fought the Red Crow Gang, losing dozens of skilled men, with funeral expenses paid; and now you tell me all the finished products were stolen???

Who wouldn't spit blood at this!

More importantly, Maroni knew that the Police and some strange Batman were after him; to deal with them, he used many informants he had never activated before, almost all of his intelligence network was alerted by him, causing many informants to lose their lives, and more than half of the intelligence network was shattered, which was his decades of hard work.

Just as Maroni, due to sunk costs, had no choice but to increase investment and produce another batch of Fear Toxin, when he went to inspect the production line again, all the instruments, along with the bottles and jars, had turned into powder.

The sound of Maroni's heartbreak could be heard throughout Gotham.

The Symbiote's performance greatly surprised Schiller; the Symbiote told him that not only Fear Toxin, but also other things, as long as they have a molecular structure, the Symbiote can first disassemble them, mix them into its own Symbiote factors, and then merge them back together when needed to restore the complete object.

This meant that Schiller had a portable storage space that could hold most ordinary items; whether metal, plastic, or fiber, the Symbiote could perfectly consume and store them, then restore them when necessary.

Schiller thought, low-level criminals do bad things while causing destruction, harming others without benefiting themselves; slightly more intelligent ones harm others to benefit themselves, doing bad things while seeking advantages.

But Schiller was different from them; what he was best at was gaining huge benefits for himself while incidentally doing good deeds.

Who would want to be a bad person if they could be a good person? In Schiller's view, those who only harm others to benefit themselves are simply not intelligent enough.

Since he could choose to gain both fame and fortune, and his conscience would not be condemned, why not do so?

What he did this time not only completely annihilated the Red Crow Gang, caused heavy losses to the Maroni Family, but also damaged the trust relationship between the gangs and the Police and the Gotham Mayor; their first close cooperation ended in such a disastrous defeat, so even if Sal was stupid, he probably wouldn't cooperate with these council members and the Police again.

Moreover, looking at the current situation, Sal, who suffered heavy losses, did not want to let this group of people go; it didn't matter if he couldn't find the thief, he could certainly squeeze more out of Victor.

Victor disappeared before he could stand trial; no one knew where he went, and Maroni now had no time to care about Gordon's position, so Gordon naturally became the leader of the Gotham City Police Department's Field Task Force, gaining real power for the first time.

The President of Gotham University, who was involved in this matter, also had an accident; because Batman did not yet have a private prison, after obtaining evidence, he threw the unconscious President back into his office, but late that night, he was hit by a truck; although he survived after being rescued at the hospital, he was left with a lifelong disability, and his ambitions to climb up would probably not be realized.

The situation of the East District gangs became more complex; the Red Crow Gang was eliminated, breaking the standoff between the two sides, but the Maroni Family also lacked the strength to unify the East District again.

Several small gangs united, wanting to bite off a piece of the tiger, and Maroni certainly would not allow his family's interests to be swallowed.

For a time, the entire East District became a battlefield for gangs again; after a mutually destructive exchange of fire, the Maroni Family could only reach an agreement with the emerging gang families, temporarily refraining from mutual aggression, but for the Maroni Family, this was already a huge loss, and some small gangs within his jurisdiction began to disobey.

Jonathan was ultimately not thrown into jail because he indeed had a mental illness; this was not the result of someone exonerating him, but the authoritative conclusion reached by the attending Doctor of Psychiatry at Arkham Asylum.

It didn't matter whether Jonathan went to Gotham Prison or Arkham Asylum, because he was not yet Scarecrow and had no ability to escape from these two places.

In addition, the Wayne Family caught the pestilent owner of Wayne Chemical Factory, Batman gained a small reputation in Gotham for the first time, Miss Christine was rescued and suffered no substantial harm, and Schiller also obtained a large amount of Fear Toxin as a weapon.

A World where only gangs and criminals are harmed has been achieved.

Although neither the Gotham President, nor Director Victor, nor Maroni, were major figures in the script of the Batman World, at most they were just cannon fodder at the beginning of the story, so they all seemed more or less foolish, but Schiller knew that the curtain of the Batman World had not yet been drawn, and those truly dangerous and deranged criminals had not yet appeared on the stage.

It was just that under his intervention, Batman grew faster, and perhaps he would gain a greater advantage when he faced his old opponents.

With a vision for the DC World, Schiller once again fell into a dream, waking up back in the bustling New York.

But unfortunately, the first guest he saw that morning was the person he least wanted to see.

"Please sit, Miss Natasha, I won't bother with pleasantries."

Natasha, across from him, was dressed in casual clothes, looking less like an Agent and more like a housewife out for a morning run; she wore light makeup, giving her a good complexion, and her hair was tied up instead of being down, making her look nothing like Black Widow.

However, this was more consistent with common sense; after all, appearing in Hell's Kitchen wearing a black tight-fitting leather suit, with a gun and various tools strapped to her waist, would surely invite various sneak attacks, even Rocket launchers.

Natasha took a sip of coffee and said, "Mr. Schiller, first of all, I want to apologize to you on behalf of Coulson; we initially wanted to approach you purely because you were Stark's psychologist, and we wanted to understand more information about Stark's mental problems, after all, you know how much impact it would have if a large corporation like Stark Industries collapsed."

"But now we come to you because we genuinely need your help, because we truly cannot find a better psychologist than you."

It must be said that this Agent was truly versatile; sitting at the table in casual clothes, holding coffee, and speaking eloquently, combined with her beautiful face, it was really hard to feel any ill will towards her.

It seemed Black Widow was not just aggressive; she was indeed an excellent Agent, capable of changing her style according to the situation.

Schiller said, "You don't have to beat around the bush with me; I know very well why I left Elders Hospital, but you found nothing there, right?"

"The only thing that attracted me there was useless to you; I was just there to complete my research, but you got me fired because of some baseless wild guesses, and we should settle this score properly."

"We are not aware of the personnel arrangements at Elders Hospital, but we do have a better job offer here," Natasha said.

Then she took a document out of her bag and handed it to Schiller, Natasha said, "We now formally invite you, Mr. Schiller Rodriguez, to become a specially invited Senior psychologist for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, to provide psychological counseling services for one or more specific Division members."

Schiller said, "I'm sorry, I don't..."

"Just like you discussed with Mr. Stark, the compensation is 1 million U.S. dollars per hour."

"Thank you, pleasure working with you." Schiller smiled and extended his hand, shaking Natasha's.
