Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Ten Steps to Kill One Person

Mo Yu glanced at the seven or eight Rain ninjas, all of them Chūnin, none being Jōnin.

This was good news.

If there had been a Jōnin among them, combined with their numbers, Mo Yu would likely have been forced to try to escape with Yuko.

"Kill!!"

One of the Rain ninjas coldly shouted, and at the same time, they began to surround Mo Yu.

Mo Yu looked at the Rain ninja closest to him, a murderous glint flashing in his eyes.

"Quick and decisive."

He placed his hand on the hilt of the sword at his waist and drew it with lightning speed.

"Shh!"

A streak of white light slashed across the ninja's neck, blood gushing out like a fountain.

"One down."

Mo Yu muttered to himself.

At the same time, as his sword fell, his left hand had already formed seals.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

The second Rain ninja, caught completely off guard and not expecting Mo Yu to form seals while drawing his sword, was hit head-on by the jutsu. With a blood-curdling scream, he was set aflame, turning into a burning human torch.

In the blink of an eye, two out of the seven Rain ninjas were dead.

The leader of the Rain ninjas was now shocked. He had not expected a Chūnin, someone of the same rank as them, to be so terrifyingly strong.

Seizing this opportunity, Mo Yu attacked again.

Because of Yuko's presence, Mo Yu couldn't use his most powerful techniques like the Eight Gates, as those would be too alarming.

Plus, there was no need to use his trump cards to deal with a few Chūnin.

His basic swordsmanship and regular ninjutsu were more than enough for them.

After killing one Jōnin, Mo Yu had unknowingly raised his own level of confidence.

"Wind Style: Wind Cutter!"

Dozens of wind blades shot out, and the Rain ninjas in front panicked and tried to dodge.

Mo Yu's seal speed was too fast for them to keep up with.

Taking advantage of this, Mo Yu swung his sword once more.

"Shh-shh!"

Two more heads dropped to the ground.

From the original seven, only three of the Rain ninjas remained.

After losing several comrades in a row, the remaining Rain ninjas finally reacted.

The Rain village was famous for its assassinations, and it could be said that every ninja from there had blood on their hands and excellent mental fortitude.

After calming down, they realized that Mo Yu's strangely fast swordplay and his ability to form seals with one hand while releasing jutsu at incredible speed far surpassed their own skills.

Additionally, their numerical advantage had been completely wiped out due to carelessness and mistakes, reducing their numbers from seven to just three.

Fighting to the death would leave them with no chance of winning.

After some quick thinking, the leader of the remaining Rain ninjas made a decision.

"Retreat! Split up and run!!"

Without any hesitation, the three of them turned and ran.

Mo Yu was momentarily stunned by their decisive action, and then he became somewhat annoyed.

"Dammit, not a shred of dignity!"

Mo Yu couldn't accept letting them escape so easily and had no intention of going easy on them.

The most important thing was...

Their lives were worth gold. Each head was worth 50 gold coins.

How could Mo Yu let such a fortune slip away from him? Absolutely not!

However, seeing them run in three different directions, and knowing he couldn't use Shadow Clones, Mo Yu chose the one he thought was the easiest to catch and gave chase.

"Pick the softest persimmon first; if I can kill one, I'll take it!"

Mo Yu's body had been strengthened through rigorous training, and he was no longer the sickly person he used to be.

Once he sprinted at full speed, his velocity was terrifying, faster than Mo Yu himself had anticipated.

Like a bird, Mo Yu swiftly leapt through the trees and quickly caught up to the fleeing Rain ninja ahead.

The Rain ninja, hearing footsteps behind him, turned around and saw Mo Yu drawing closer. His heart nearly stopped in fear, and he wished he could grow extra legs to run even faster.

But in the span of just a fraction of a second, Mo Yu appeared behind him like a ghost.

"Shh!!"

One swing of the sword, and the ninja's head fell from his shoulders.

Done. Sheathing his sword!

Without pausing, Mo Yu quickly dashed in the next direction.

This second Rain ninja had already gained some distance, and Mo Yu had to exert some effort to catch up.

Seeing the ninja ahead desperately trying to escape, Mo Yu calculated the distance and formed seals with his left hand.

A moment later, he completed them.

Then Mo Yu thrust his right fist forward, a wind-based chakra condensing around his fist.

"Wind Style: Cyclone Fist!"

"Boom!!"

The Rain ninja, several meters away, seemed to take a heavy blow; his body slammed like a rag doll into a tree.

Looking closely, a terrifying fist-shaped indentation appeared on his back, deeply embedded in his body, as if he had been punched straight through.

The second ninja was dealt with.

However, when Mo Yu looked around to find the last ninja, he realized that he had already vanished without a trace.

After searching the area for a while, he still couldn't find any sign of him, so Mo Yu reluctantly gave up.

This experience reminded Mo Yu that he needed to master all kinds of tracking techniques. Otherwise, against enemies who excel at escaping and hiding, he would be helpless.

"I remember Kakashi's summoning beast is good at tracking. I wonder if his dad, Zaiyun, could do the same?"

Mo Yu began heading back.

"If only I had a pair of Byakugan, I'd be able to see through all hiding techniques within a thousand meters."

But for now, it was just a thought. Mo Yu hadn't even mastered the Sharingan yet, so he had no time to worry about the Byakugan. Maybe he could figure it out later when the opportunity arose. After all, as long as he had enough gold coins, there was nothing he couldn't exchange from the system.

When Mo Yu returned to the original location, he saw Yuko pacing back and forth, looking worried.

As soon as she saw him, she ran over.

"Mo Yu, are you okay?"

Mo Yu smiled and said, "What could happen to me? It's just a shame that one got away."

"I was going to ask you the same thing. How did you suddenly become so strong?"

Yuko blinked her big eyes, looking at Mo Yu curiously. "Those guys were all Chūnin, yet you managed to kill them all."

Mo Yu corrected her, "Well, I let one escape."

Yuko rolled her eyes at him. "That's still crazy. The last time we met, you couldn't even kill a chicken, and now it's like killing Chūnin is the same as killing chickens. How did you get so strong?"

"I'm a late bloomer, suddenly had an epiphany, and my training is progressing at a rapid pace. All ninjutsu, I learn them instantly, master them immediately. It's just the way it is," Mo Yu said, making up an excuse.

Yuko nodded innocently, believing him.

"Is that so? I wonder when I'll have my epiphany and suddenly become strong."

Mo Yu quickly changed the subject. "Enough about me. Tell me about yourself. How did you end up here, and why were you surrounded by so many Rain ninjas? Also, what happened to those Konoha ninjas on the ground?"

Yuko's face immediately fell, her expression turning sorrowful. Large tears began to fall from her eyes.
