[Now arriving at the world of "Avengers 1." This traversal has no assigned mission.]
The system's voice rang in Saitama's head.
"No mission?"
That surprised him.
Every time he went to Marvel, the system dumped missions on him like homework. Was it finally running out of brain cells? Losing hair?
Now it wasn't assigning anything?
This salted fish suddenly felt… a bit aimless.
[Ding! Faction sequence activated. Contribution system online.]
[Please choose your faction: Human Faction, Saitama Faction, or Neutral. Defeating or killing faction members will earn contribution points.]
Contribution points?
Saitama tilted his head.
[Because of your presence, this world's events will no longer follow their original path. This is now a Chaotic World.]
[Anything from a Chaotic World can be taken back to your own, by spending contribution points.]
"Ohhh…"
So Avengers 1 had become chaotic, and with contribution points he could bring Marvel items back to his own world.
Useful? Maybe.
For Saitama, not really. Whatever—he went with the flow.
"Please choose your faction."
"Faction?"
Human? Or… Saitama faction?
"I'll go Neutral."
He tapped confirm.
At once, both he and Banner were listed as Neutral.
Night.
S.H.I.E.L.D. secret research base.
[Ding! Helicopter descending.]
Director Nick Fury, bald and dark-skinned, strode off the chopper with Deputy Director Maria Hill at his side.
(As for the timeline of One Punch Man vs. Marvel—don't worry. They're not synced. Flow rates differ. Just roll with it.)
"What's the situation?" Fury asked grimly.
Recently, agents had dredged a strange cube from the ocean depths. Their science team tried to unlock its secrets.
And after Thor, Saitama, and even the Destroyer had appeared, Earth was already shaken. Panic grew.
High-level councils convened emergency meetings.
The conclusion: develop weapons beyond current human technology, to defend themselves in this chaotic era.
Self-defense? Or a bid to control the world—or even the universe? That was secondary.
The point: America's leadership wanted the Tesseract, no matter what.
"It's very bad, sir. We still don't understand it…"
Agent Coulson reported.
They had tested it for some time but gained little.
The only solid lead: it might be a gateway to another part of the universe.
But how to open that door?
No one knew.
The trio passed security checks and took a private elevator 100 meters underground.
At the core, countless instruments surrounded a cube the size of a basketball, pulsing with arcane light.
The Tesseract.
As Fury and Dr. Erik Selvig conversed, the cube suddenly surged with violent energy.
Without human input, the Tesseract activated.
A blinding beam carved open space itself.
A void gate opened, and out stepped a figure.
The light dimmed.
The wormhole closed.
A man with a hooked nose stood there, clutching a strange scepter tipped with a glowing gem.
Loki.
Worn from wandering, wearing shades of guilt, he smiled wickedly.
Realizing he had arrived on Earth, his grin widened.
"Sir, stand down immediately!"
Fury barked, tense.
A man appearing from nothing—everyone froze.
Loki laughed. He leveled the scepter—
A beam shot out, striking Fury directly.
Ratatatatata—
Gunfire filled the chamber.
Security unleashed everything they had. But to their horror, bullets bounced harmlessly off Loki.
He strode through the barrage, striking soldiers down without effort.
He pressed the scepter to Barton's chest.
Blue energy poured in, strengthening Hawkeye and bending his mind to Loki's will.
The Mind Stone.
It could invade thoughts, control wills, amplify mental power.
But suddenly, Loki froze. His grin faltered.
His pupils dilated.
From Barton's mind, he saw something.
A bald man.
"…Sai…tama?! You—you know that monster?!"
Moments earlier, Loki had been smug, a max-level boss dropped into a newbie village.
Now he felt like a level 100 player stumbling into a level 10,000 prehistoric raid boss.
His face twisted.
"Damn it! You've come to Earth… and even met with them!"
Saitama's existence shattered his plans.
Even though he saw Saitama wasn't present right now, the mere threat shook him.
"…No matter! You can't stop me!! My plan… will just need some changes!!"
His gaze turned cold as he stared at Fury, Hill, and the others.
