Penny's POV
The next morning, I wake up to the smell of coffee and buttered toast filling the air like any other Saturday morning except that it isn't.
Last night, Mrs. Harrison dropped her little bombshell and now the weight of it hangs in the house like smoke.
By the time I walk downstairs, Nick is already at the table demolishing a plate stacked high with scrambled eggs and sausages. He's eating like he's in a competition only he knows about.
Jess sits across from him, delicately buttering her toast with her raised eyebrow that silently screams judgment. "You chew like a caveman."
Nick shrugs, mouth full. "And yet somehow, this caveman is still more charming than you."
Jess doesn't even look up. "You keep telling yourself that, Nick."
I stifle a laugh as I take a sit in my chair before pouring myself some juice. "You two are like an old married couple."
"Blasphemy," Nick says around a bite. "I would never marry Jess."
