"Broly, come with me," Gohan said, extending an invitation.
"No. I'm not going."
Broly glanced at Paragus, then shook his head.
Gohan was genuinely surprised. In such a short span of time, this Broly had shown filial piety, simplicity, and deep attachment to others.
It completely changed Gohan's view of him.
He could hardly believe that among Saiyans, there was someone this… adorable.
If he hadn't grown up without proper education or basic common sense, Broly would have been an outstanding person.
"Broly, you're a good kid. Loyal, devoted, and filial. But your father doesn't treat you like a normal person. Come with me," Gohan couldn't help but say again.
"Bring him too."
After a moment's hesitation, Broly pointed at Paragus.
Gohan's brows furrowed.
"In that case, just kill him already. Broly, you bastard, how dare you defy me!" Paragus roared, venting his frustration at Broly.
"In that case… killing you really is the best option," Gohan decided inwardly.
The only question was how.
How to kill Paragus in a way that wouldn't make Broly hate him.
A real-life case of playing the villain yet still wanting a spotless reputation…
"Broly, come on. Let's fight. Looks like we won't get anywhere if we don't. We'll talk after we're done." Gohan issued his challenge.
Broly froze for a moment, looked again at the seething, hate-filled Paragus, then nodded.
Gohan powered up. His base battle power of one hundred billion made the entire Planet Vampa tremble.
The sheer pressure sent Paragus flying like a ragdoll.
At this point, Broly's power level was at most around twenty thousand. The heavens-shaking aura Gohan released crushed down on him so hard that, even though a part of Broly longed to fight, his body simply couldn't move.
"No… impossible… impossible…"
Paragus, who'd been blown away, stared at Gohan in a daze.
The hatred he'd been nursing for thirty years was instantly snuffed out, replaced entirely by fear.
He had never felt such terrifying pressure before not even from Broly when he went berserk and lost all reason.
"Right. I forgot you're still this weak."
Gohan, seeing that Broly hadn't moved, immediately understood that he'd overdone it with his ki.
He slowly drew his aura back, suppressing his battle power down to Broly's level.
"Come on, Broly."
"Haaah!"
Broly struck first, leaping in with a flying knee.
Gohan pressed down with his palm and stepped back lightly. Broly lost his balance, about to face-plant but in that exact instant, Gohan's uppercut crashed into Broly's chin.
Boom.
Broly was sent flying, but he quickly stopped himself in mid-air and rushed back in.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
Every blow Broly threw was effortlessly caught by Gohan, who countered every chance he got.
In just a few minutes, Broly's body had been pounded by hundreds of punches.
The absurd part was: he wasn't actually hurt. If anything, he was getting stronger.
The power inside him kept surging up. His aura climbed rapidly.
"He can really take a beating…"
Gohan raised his own power accordingly.
Twenty thousand.
Thirty thousand.
One hundred thousand.
Five hundred thousand.
One million.
Within a few minutes, Broly's battle power had shot up to one million.
At the same time, he'd picked up bits of fighting experience. His moves started to mimic Gohan's.
"What a proper Legendary Super Saiyan… interesting. Way too interesting."
Gohan was getting more and more excited.
He slammed a heavy right hook into Broly's face but to his surprise, Broly didn't fly back this time. He straightened his head against the force of the punch instead.
The muscles on his body swelled. His height increased by a few centimeters.
"Rrraaah!!"
As the battle pressed on, that violent energy in Broly's body began to erode his mind.
Rationality faded from his eyes. His aura turned wild and savage.
His battle power soared again, rocketing up to five million.
Still bracing against Gohan's fist, he suddenly kicked straight at Gohan's chest.
Gohan was still marveling at the changes in Broly's body and got caught off guard, sent flying across the landscape.
He crashed hard into a distant mountain.
"Cough… I got careless.
"But this is getting fun."
Gohan dug himself out of the rubble, excitement burning brighter in his eyes. He wanted to see just how far Broly's growth could go.
"Yah!!"
He flared his ki, shattering the mountain behind him and charging straight back in.
Using his towering frame, Broly whipped out a devastating roundhouse kick. The thick, corded muscles on his thigh were almost as thick as Gohan's waist.
Gohan dipped low and drove a fist into the inside of Broly's thigh.
Broly's face twisted with pain. The inner thigh was not a gentle spot to be hit.
But the pain only drove him further into madness.
Crack.
The aura around his body suddenly turned grass-green, and even the tips of his hair gleamed with a faint green hue.
His battle power instantly jumped to one hundred million.
That fan-sized hand suddenly clamped down on Gohan's head.
Boom!
Gohan was slammed headfirst into the ground, blasting out a huge crater.
"Yaaah!!"
Broly charged, pushing Gohan's face into the dirt as he ran. Like a living bulldozer, he carved a deep trench across the ground with Gohan's head.
"Get off me!"
Gohan finally snapped and stopped suppressing his strength.
One hundred billion in battle power roared out of him, blasting Broly away in an instant.
"Ptui! Pah, pah! Damn…"
Gohan spat out dirt and gravel.
"You've made me mad now."
He flashed forward, appearing in front of Broly.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
His body barely seemed to move, but Broly's chest was hammered by hundreds of punches in the blink of an eye.
"Gah !"
Broly spewed a mouthful of blood.
"Rrraaahhhh!!"
With each roar, his body bulked up again, growing another thirty centimeters taller.
His black hair suddenly flared into gold.
"A Super Saiyan, huh?" Gohan's lips curled upward. He didn't look worried in the slightest.
Broly's battle power spiked again, clearing two and a half billion.
"That grass-green aura from before… looks like that was the Legendary Super Saiyan trait manifesting the full power of the Great Ape form while staying humanoid.
"And now he's stacked a Super Saiyan transformation on top.
"Heh. Completely broken."
Gohan instantly figured out the logic behind Broly's transformations.
In his Super Saiyan state, Broly appeared in front of Gohan again.
His entire body shone with grass-green light. A condensed orb of grass-green energy formed at his chest and detonated point-blank.
Chest Beam.
Gohan didn't dodge. A formless barrier flared around his body. The explosion of green light crashed into it as if slamming into invisible glass, then scattered in all directions.
"Parlor tricks."
Gohan spread his palm.
Boom, boom, boom!
Three invisible shockwaves fired from his hand, smashing into Broly and sending him flying.
"Rrraaaah!!"
Broly's ki was still creeping up. After tanking three air cannons head-on, he roared again and charged Gohan, refusing to fall back.
But no matter how he attacked, he couldn't touch Gohan.
Instead, Gohan's fists kept slamming into him, battering his body, though that endless well of energy inside Broly would instantly repair his injuries.
That only drove him further into bloodthirsty madness.
He soared high into the sky, his entire body glowing grass-green. The heavens seemed to lose their color, turning black-and-white in an instant.
Twin orbs of green energy appeared in his hands, then shot down toward Gohan.
"Death Shockwave."
Gohan drew on a sliver of the Death Rule within him. A gray energy sphere fired from his hand, erasing Broly's blasts the instant they met
Then hurtled toward Broly.
Buzz.
Even though Broly had lost his rational mind, his instincts screamed danger, and he instantly conjured a shimmering, circular energy shield.
The green dome lasted less than a heartbeat before the Death Shockwave shattered it.
Broly twisted his massive body at the last possible instant, narrowly dodging the attack.
"Hmph. So even when you lose your mind, your body can still feel death coming." Gohan snorted coldly.
The truth was, the moment he fired that Death Shockwave, he'd had the intent to kill.
If Broly hadn't dodged, he might have died right there.
"Yaaah!!"
Broly's roar grew more frenzied. His ki continued climbing.
He charged at Gohan again, clearly set on fighting to the bitter end.
"Almost enough. Time to find a chance to get rid of Paragus."
While fending off Broly's blows, Gohan was trying to figure out how to kill Paragus without turning Broly against him.
Paragus, seeing Gohan once again being driven back and chased all over by Broly, couldn't hide his joy.
"Good, Broly, that's it! Kill him! Kill him!"
He never noticed the shadow rising behind him, from a crater in the ground.
A green-furred giant beast slowly lifted its head.
On closer look, one of its ears was missing.
Because Paragus was facing the battlefield, he didn't see Ba behind him.
But Gohan did.
"Perfect. Maybe I won't have to do anything at all…"
He immediately understood. That was Ba the giant beast Paragus had ambushed, tearing off its ear.
Gohan deliberately pulled back his aura, making it look like he was about to lose.
"Yes! That's it, Broly. Finish him in one go. Kill him!" Paragus shouted at the top of his lungs.
Suddenly, he noticed a shadow fall across the ground.
"Grrrraagh!!"
Ba opened its maw and chomped down on him.
"Broly! Save me!" Paragus shrieked.
But it was far too late.
Ba bit him in half and swallowed.
Broly heard Paragus's scream and looked back in time to see Ba gulping his father down.
His pupils vanished completely, leaving only white.
His golden hair shifted again, turning grass-green. His body shot up to three meters tall.
His muscles coiled and knotted under his skin, bulging as if sculpted from stone.
A crushing wave of power rolled out of him.
His battle power spiked to ten billion.
"It's finally here. The true Legendary Super Saiyan form.
"Grass-green hair, grass-green aura, that savage, feral ki…"
Gohan could hardly contain his excitement.
In just a short time, Broly had gone from twenty thousand to ten billion.
"Monstrous…"
Even Gohan, a walking cheat code himself, couldn't help calling him a monster.
